Chapter 99 She Made a Decision

David cried out, "Why won't you take me with you?"

Michael just ignored him, thinking, 'It's all because you gave Sarah a gift. And no one informed me. It made me feel embarrassed.'

David wondered, 'What's up with Michael? Why's he acting so unreasonable?'

The four of them finished eating and left the restaurant.

David drove off with Sarah.

Michael grabbed Elizabeth's hand and headed towards the Rolls-Royce.

In the car, Michael helped Elizabeth with her seatbelt.

Michael reminded Elizabeth, "For a while, if Jennifer calls or wants to meet, you gotta tell me. Don't meet her alone. She might try to hurt you."

Elizabeth nodded, "Okay. I wasn't planning to meet her anyway."

Michael said calmly, "With Patricia gone, she might lose it."

Elizabeth sighed, "I get it. A mom will always protect her kid."

Michael blurted out without thinking, "You've never been a mom, how do you understand that?"

As soon as he said it, Michael regretted it.

He glanced at Elizabeth.

Sure enough, Elizabeth's face changed immediately, "Michael, I had the chance to be a mom. But you took that away from me. Let me ask you one last time, if you could go back, would you still force me to have an abortion?"

Michael averted his eyes from Elizabeth. "No need to ask again. Even if you ask a hundred times, my answer won't change. I don't regret it. I won't let my child exist in this world."

Tears of pain streamed down Elizabeth's pale face. "Michael, even if it's me? Can't you make an exception for me?"

Michael answered her with silence.

Back at the villa, Elizabeth stayed in her room every day, either practicing her cello or reading medical books.

She and Michael seemed to have gone back to their old ways.

Not seeing each other, not talking. Eating at different times.

But could things really go back to how they had been?

Because of the Christmas holiday, the Christmas party was held a few days early.

Elizabeth and Sarah sat in the audience, watching the show.

Sarah leaned close to Elizabeth's ear and whispered, "How much longer until your performance? Aren't you going backstage to get ready?"

Elizabeth looked around. She hadn't seen Michael.

Even though she was mad at him, she still hoped to see him in the hall.

The party had been going on for half an hour, and he still hadn't come.

Maybe he wouldn't come tonight.

Elizabeth said goodbye to Sarah and went backstage to do her makeup and change clothes.

At 8:15 PM, the host announced Elizabeth's performance.

Elizabeth wore a loose, pure white long dress, with layers of white gauze cascading down. When the wind blew, the hem of the dress lifted slightly. It was like a dream.

It perfectly covered her slightly rounded belly.

Her long hair flowed, and she wore a simple flower crown on her head, like a woodland fairy.

After bowing to the audience, Elizabeth stood straight, stepped back, sat down, and picked up her cello.

With just one glance, she saw Michael sitting in the front row.

He sat there, watching Elizabeth's performance intently.

Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat. She closed her eyes and focused on her performance.

After the performance, Michael stood up from his seat.

He was holding a bouquet of flowers.

His outfit today was totally different from his usual black or gray suits. Today, he rocked a white casual suit, walking gracefully, smiling, and just oozing elegance.

The audience went wild.

People started whispering.

"Oh my God! He's so handsome! Where did he come from? He looks like an angel."

"Could anyone in our school really be that good-looking?" a girl asked.

"I don't think he's a student. Maybe he's someone's relative," another girl said.

"So what if he's older? I like mature and wise men. He totally fits my type," someone else chimed in.

"How can someone be so perfect! Look at that straight nose, those deep eyes, full lips, broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs! Oh my God, I'm falling for him!" another girl screamed.

Michael walked onto the stage, smiling as he handed the flowers to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth took them, looking puzzled.

Pink petals rained down from above the stage.

All the girls in the audience were envious. There were gasps and exclamations of admiration.

Michael took out a necklace and put it on Elizabeth.

Elizabeth whispered to Michael, "You have good taste in gifts. The diamond is big and bright. Looks like something those nouveau riche would like."

Michael chuckled, "Are you sure it's a compliment?"

The party ended in a joyful and pleasant atmosphere.

Back at the villa, Michael went upstairs to change clothes and take a shower.

Elizabeth was about to check if anyone had messaged her but suddenly realized her phone was missing.

She wanted Michael to call her phone to find it.

But Michael was already in the shower. His phone was on the bed.

Elizabeth picked up Michael's phone and tentatively unlocked the screen.

He hadn't set a password.

She dialed her own number, and the ringtone sounded.

Following the sound, she found her phone. Just as she was about to lock his phone, her finger accidentally tapped on the photo gallery.

Her heart sank instantly. She secretly made a firm decision.

In the following days, Elizabeth was especially gentle with Michael.

Michael told Elizabeth that Susan had taken a few days off.

Elizabeth said, "It's okay, I'll cook for you."

Elizabeth searched for recipes online every day and cooked for Michael.

In her free time, she cleaned the house. Like a typical housewife.

Michael would often wake up and see Elizabeth busy in the kitchen. He would stand at the door, watching her.

He felt a deep sense of contentment and happiness.

As Christmas approached, Aurora Bay had a heavy snowfall.

Early in the morning, the servants had already shoveled snow in the yard.

Elizabeth ran out to the yard, crounching on the untouched snow.

Michael brought her a coat and draped it over her shoulders.

He whispered gently in her ear, "Aren't you afraid of catching a cold, coming out dressed like this?"

Elizabeth's nose was red, and her eyes were bright.

She held Michael's hand, swinging it back and forth. "Michael, let's build snowmen, okay? One for you, and the other for me. When it snows, they'll keep each other company. When the snow melts, they'll turn into water, and we'll be part of each other. Isn't that romantic?"

Michael wanted to refuse, but he said, "Okay."

He smiled gently at Elizabeth.

The two of them built two snowmen in the yard. One tall, one small.

Michael's eyes were bright when he looked at Elizabeth.

Around his neck was the scarf Elizabeth had knitted for him.

His mouth was always turned up in a smile. It was clear he was very happy.

The servants in the villa watched in amazement, as if they had never known Michael.
