Chapter 303 Revenge
By the time they finished getting dressed and walked out of the lounge, they had no idea how much time had passed.
Elizabeth was so exhausted that she collapsed onto the couch in the outer office for a quick nap.
Michael walked over to his desk and picked up the phone.
"Mr. Thomas, we have news about Calla and Anthony."
"Go on."
"They're living together. They just got back from a trip abroad."
"Got it."
"Do you need us to bring Anthony in?"
"No need. Handle it yourselves."
"Understood, Mr. Thomas."
After hanging up, he walked over to her and started massaging her lower back. "Just a little exercise, and you're already this tired?"
Elizabeth ignored him.
He continued, "Looks like you haven't been keeping up with your workouts lately. That's not good."
Elizabeth finally turned to face him. "I'm pregnant. It's not exactly easy to exercise."
Michael scoffed, "That's just an excuse. There are plenty of pregnant women working out in the gym."
Elizabeth raised her hands in surrender. "Please, give me a break."
Michael didn't stop. "I'm just worried that if something happens, you won't be able to run fast enough."
Elizabeth replied, "What could possibly happen to me? Aren't you always around?"
Michael sighed. "There will be times when I can't be there."
Elizabeth gently tugged at his sleeve. "What do you think we are now?"
Michael didn't answer. He wanted to be with her forever, but Eloise was already living in the villa. Her presence constantly reminded him of their family's genetic disease.
He wanted to build a family with Elizabeth and have a bunch of adorable kids. But that terrifying diagnosis haunted him, preventing him from feeling secure enough to marry.
He cleared his throat, feeling a deep bitterness. "Isn't this good enough?"
Elizabeth was taken aback by his response. She had made her intentions clear. She had initiated intimacy, decided not to dwell on his past.
Calla, Eloise—she was willing to forgive him and be with him if he made his stance clear.
She could forgive all the hurt he had caused her. She would try to be with him again and let Nolan and Pearl slowly accept him.
But she never expected that in his heart, she was just his mistress, not even considered a lover. Even her pregnancy couldn't change his mind.
Elizabeth's heart sank, as if it had dropped to the bottom of the ocean. She felt like she had been submerged in icy water, her face a mask of frost.
She stood up, silently straightened her clothes, and left without a word.
Behind her, Michael sat quietly, lost in thought.
In the CEO's office at FutureTech Robotics Group, Jennifer was on the phone.
"What did you say? The owner of that Bentley is Michael? Are you sure there's no mistake?"
"I'm sure. The person driving that car was Michael's bodyguard."
"Michael's bodyguard hit me. He must have been following Michael's orders. I haven't had any conflicts with Michael recently. Why would he do this to me? Could it be that the past isn't over yet? My daughter already paid with her life!"
"There's one more thing. We've sent the parking records from that day to your phone, along with the owners' name. You can take a look and see if there's anyone who might hold a grudge against you."
"Okay." Jennifer hung up and started reviewing the parking records.
Soon, she saw a familiar name. Her eyes turned red, and she glared at the name as if she could burn it to ashes.
[Elizabeth Jones.]
Jennifer's face twisted with rage. She gripped her phone tightly, clenching her teeth. "Elizabeth, so it was you! I'll make you pay!"
Jennifer called Calla. "I know who's been sabotaging me."
Calla remained calm. "Elizabeth."
Jennifer was surprised. "How did you know?"
Calla sneered. "Do you even need to guess? Who else has a deep grudge against you?"
Jennifer said, "I'm going to retaliate. I'll ruin her! She'll never have peace."
Calla's tone was indifferent. "Go ahead."
Jennifer asked, "Why aren't you saying anything about me going after Elizabeth?"
Calla replied, "Good luck."
Then she hung up. She needed to avoid Elizabeth, fearing she might bring up her affair with Anthony to Michael. She didn't want to provoke Elizabeth.
Elizabeth had Michael's support now, and Calla couldn't deal with her.
It had been a few days since Elizabeth went to Stellar Enterprises to see Michael. He hadn't contacted her since.
Elizabeth enjoyed the peace. She spent her days handling affairs at The Jones Group and her evenings playing with Pearl and Nolan. Life was quite leisurely.
One evening, she walked into The Jones Group parking lot, ready to drive home. As she approached her Range Rover, someone grabbed her.
Startled, she screamed.
She raised her purse, ready to strike.
"Elizabeth."
She lowered her purse, her expression relaxing but quickly turning cold. "What are you doing here?"
Michael leaned against her Range Rover. "I'm coming home with you. I'll cook."
Elizabeth pushed him aside, opened the driver's door, and got in.
But within a second, she screamed and jumped out, throwing herself into his arms. "Help! Michael! Help me!"
Michael quickly realized there was something dangerous in her car. He pulled her close and called to his bodyguard. "Check the car."
The bodyguard obeyed and climbed into the Range Rover.
Elizabeth trembled, her face pale, clinging to Michael's shirt.
Michael held her, one arm around her, the other gently patting her back.
Being this close, he could clearly feel her fear.
Soon, the bodyguard emerged, holding a bag with a rat inside. "Mr. Thomas, I found this in Ms. Jones's car."
Elizabeth heard the rat squeaking and buried her face in Michael's chest, shouting, "Get it away!"
Michael's face turned cold. "Get rid of it."
The bodyguard nodded.
He took her cold hand and led her away. "Come with me, we'll take my car."
Elizabeth tried to move, but her legs felt like they were rooted to the ground, unable to take a single step.
Michael picked her up. "Check the car thoroughly. Clean it. Make sure there's nothing else."
The bodyguard nodded and drove the car away.
Michael placed Elizabeth in his Cullinan.
He sat with her in the back, gently comforting her.
Where did the rat come from in the parking lot? Even if there were rats, how could one get into the car?
This was clearly someone's malicious act, meant to disgust her.
Michael silently vowed to find the person responsible and make them regret their actions.
