Chapter 538 Drunk

Nolan quickly stashed his ID, grabbed his suitcase, and made a beeline for the hotel entrance.

Running into Michael here today was the last thing he expected. He needed to check into another hotel before Michael spotted him.

He couldn't let Michael know he was in Majestic City. He had important business to handle.

Michael finished his inspection of the hotel, and his driver opened the car door for him.

"Mr. Thomas, back to the castle?"

Michael got in. "No, let's head to the Triumph Hotel."

He had just seen Nolan at the Bright Hotel.

At first, Michael didn't think much of it, but when he saw Nolan suddenly turn and leave, he was sure it was him. Nolan must have seen him and decided to switch hotels.

Nolan still didn't want to see him.

In the back seat, Michael texted Elizabeth: [Just saw Nolan. Contact him ASAP and find out why he's here. It's not safe; he needs to leave.]

Elizabeth was having breakfast with her bodyguard.

The bodyguard noticed her expression and asked, "Ms. Jones, something wrong?"

Elizabeth frowned. "Michael said he saw Nolan."

The bodyguard was puzzled. "Didn't he lose his memory? He forgot you but still remembers his son?"

Elizabeth was taken aback but quickly replied, "Let's not get into that now. I need to find out if Nolan is really here."

She called Susan. "Susan, is Nolan there?"

Susan was playing with Francis and replied, "Nolan said he went back to Valoria. Didn't he tell you?"

Elizabeth's heart sank.

It seemed Nolan had lied. He had tricked Susan and come to Majestic City.

Elizabeth stood up and headed out.

"You settle the bill. I'm leaving."

The bodyguard followed her, tossing a hundred-dollar bill to the cashier. "Keep the change."

He caught up with Elizabeth. "Ms. Jones, is Nolan really in Majestic City?"

Elizabeth ignored him. She was calling Nolan, but he wasn't answering.

Nolan was deliberately avoiding her calls. He was too independent and never listened to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth paced anxiously in front of the restaurant.

If Nolan was in Majestic City, Gerald would definitely find out.

If he did, he would capture Nolan and use him to threaten Michael into doing something he didn't want to do.

Elizabeth didn't want Michael to have any weaknesses, nor did she want Nolan to be in danger.

She forgot that her presence was also a weakness for Michael.

Suddenly, Elizabeth felt dizzy, her vision darkened, and the last thing she heard was the bodyguard's panicked shout, "Ms. Jones!"

When Elizabeth woke up, she was in a hospital neurology ward.

The bodyguard saw her sit up and immediately said, "Ms. Jones, you scared me to death!"

Elizabeth was confused. "What happened to me?"

The bodyguard exclaimed, "What happened? You fainted on the street! Ms. Jones, please take care of your health. Okay?"

Elizabeth murmured, "When did I get sick? No wonder I've been having headaches lately. Is it stress?"

As they spoke, a male doctor in a white coat entered the room.

"Elizabeth."

Elizabeth looked up. "Hey, I'm Elizabeth. Are you my attending physician?"

The doctor removed his mask and smiled. "Not just that."

Elizabeth's eyes widened. "Glenn Cole!"

Glenn nodded. "I'm surprised you remember me. I didn't expect our reunion to be like this."

Elizabeth sighed. "Yeah, me neither. Ending up in your care, of all places."

Glenn chuckled. "Your neurology skills are way better than mine, yet here you are needing my treatment. If I run into trouble, can I consult you?"

Elizabeth laughed. "Don't be so modest. The professor always praised you."

Glenn adjusted his glasses. "Your test results aren't back yet. I'll let you know when they are."

Elizabeth nodded. "Thanks, Glenn. Knowing a familiar face is here makes me feel a lot better."

Glenn smiled and left to continue his rounds.

Outside Elizabeth's room, a young doctor whispered, "Dr. Cole, haven't you seen her results? Are you..."

Glenn frowned, looking serious. "Don't tell her yet. It would be too much of a shock."

The young doctor glanced at Elizabeth's room and whispered back, "But Dr. Cole, she has the right to know."

Glenn sighed. "I know. I'm not withholding the information. I just want to delay the bad news a bit. Didn't you see how exhausted she looked? She must have a lot on her mind."

At the Murphy Castle.

Michael returned from inspecting the hotel and was about to go to his room when Gerald called him to the dining room.

Gerald had invited many guests today. He wanted Michael to gradually get acquainted with his business, so he was introducing these people to him.

Michael was in a bad mood. The guests offered him drinks, and he didn't refuse any. Soon, he was passed out on the dining table.

Gerald apologized to the guests. "I'm very sorry."

He signaled Michael's bodyguard to take him back to his room.

In the room, Cordelia was resting on the bed.

After waking up, she had insisted on leaving the hospital because she disliked the atmosphere and smell.

Gerald had arranged for a medical transport to bring her back to the castle and set up a private medical team to care for her.

Hearing a knock, Cordelia signaled the maid to open the door.

The bodyguard handed the drunken Michael to two maids and left.

The maids helped Michael to the bed and asked Cordelia, "Ms. Murphy, should we leave him here?"

Cordelia's face turned cold. "Do you know what you're saying? Michael is the master of this room, my husband. Why wouldn't he stay?"

The maids lowered their heads. "Sorry, Ms. Murphy."

Cordelia continued, "And from now on, show him respect. Use proper titles."

"Yes, Ms. Murphy."

"Now, bring Michael to the bed."

"Yes, Ms. Murphy."

Cordelia's injuries hadn't healed yet, so she moved aside carefully.

The maid placed Michael beside her.

Cordelia instructed, "Help me up."

The maids helped her sit up, and she struggled to turn and remove Michael's suit jacket.

Just doing this made her wound hurt, and she broke into a sweat. She sighed. "Take off his shoes and socks."

If she weren't injured, Cordelia wouldn't want anyone else touching Michael, not even the maids.

The maids helped her lie back down. She lay beside him, turned her head slightly to look at him, and smiled contentedly.

Finally, she and Michael could lie on the same bed.
