Chapter 98 Just Try Touching Her

Elizabeth thought Jennifer had lost it.

"You knew what kind of guy he was, but you still pushed me to marry him. What were you thinking? Trying to get rid of me so you could have the Jones Family all to yourself? Are you really that innocent? Didn't you do everything you could to mess with me? How long has it been? Have you forgotten already? And when you got your brother Kieran Johnson into the company, wasn't it to embezzle? You two stole so much money from Dad. Don't you feel guilty?"

Jennifer, hearing Elizabeth's accusations, was about to slap her.

A bodyguard rushed over and grabbed her hand firmly.

He glared at Jennifer, "Try touching her."

Jennifer quickly backed off.

She sneered at Elizabeth, "Elizabeth, you've gotten tough. So many men at your service now. If Kieran took the money, so what? The company isn't just Robert's. I should have a share too. He wanted to leave everything to you. I stayed with him for years, and he left me with nothing. I was stupid to marry him."

Elizabeth stood next to the bodyguard, feeling safe.

With the bodyguard here, Michael must be nearby.

She glared at Jennifer and warned, "I'm serious. The billion dollars you and Kieran stole, you'll pay it back with interest. And I'll make sure he goes to jail. I mean it."

If it weren't for Jennifer and Kieran embezzling funds, the Jones Group wouldn't have gone bankrupt, and Robert wouldn't have died of a heart attack.

Jennifer tried to lunge at her again.

The bodyguard grabbed her and tossed her aside.

Jennifer fell to the ground, wailing and not caring about her image. "You bitch! You ungrateful brat! Now you're bold enough to bully your mother in public! Your dad died early! How am I supposed to live alone? Look at this! Elizabeth Jones, after marrying into the Thomas Family, has become richer and doesn't care about her mother anymore."

Elizabeth saw Jennifer's true colors.

The bodyguard helped Elizabeth towards the Rolls-Royce.

He said, "Mrs. Thomas, Mr. Thomas said you shouldn't get too entangled with Jennifer."

Elizabeth looked surprised, "Does he care about me that much?"

The bodyguard got anxious, "Mrs. Thomas, how can you say that? Don't you know how good Mr. Thomas is to you?"

Elizabeth didn't bother responding. She opened the car door herself and got in.

Michael was sitting in the back seat.

Elizabeth said to Michael gratefully, "You got here so quickly."

Michael looked at her warmly, "Jennifer has no way out now. Someone like her acts recklessly. I was afraid she might hurt you."

As he spoke, Michael handed a thermos cup to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth opened it and took a sip of water.

Michael took the cup back, opened the lid, and took a sip too.

Elizabeth looked at him, surprised, thinking, "How could he drink from the cup I used? Doesn't he have a cleanliness obsession?"

Michael asked her, "It's almost noon. What do you want to eat?"

Elizabeth quickly snapped back to reality. "How about we eat out for lunch today?"

Michael replied, "Sure, whatever you want."

Elizabeth felt that Michael seemed particularly gentle today. She thought he might agree if she made a request.

Elizabeth lowered her head, fiddling with her fingers. "Michael, I haven't had a meal with Sarah in a long time."

Michael glanced at her, "You can invite her to join us, and she can bring David along."

Elizabeth immediately hugged Michael's neck and kissed him on the cheek. "Michael, you're so kind."

Michael, still in a daze, thought, 'Inviting her friend Sarah for a meal makes me a good person? So simple. If I had known, I would have invited them earlier.'

At the Gourmet Haven, Elizabeth and Sarah were ordering food while Michael and David were chatting. Actually, the one really ordering was Sarah, and the one talking was David.

Sarah secretly asked Elizabeth if she had received a gift.

Elizabeth was puzzled, "What gift?"

Sarah glared at her, "Of course, a Christmas gift. Christmas is coming soon. Has Michael prepared a gift for you?"

Elizabeth took a sip of water. She didn't care much about gifts. "As long as there's love, it will be enough. Why do you need a gift? Can a gift prove someone's love for you?"

"I don't know if it can prove the love, but when David gives me a gift, I'm very happy," Sarah said, smiling at David.

David received her loving gaze and winked at her.

Elizabeth glanced at Michael. In contrast, the two of them seemed to have lost the passion of love. When they were together, it was just eating and sleeping. There was no feeling of being in love.

Elizabeth sighed quietly. It wasn't because she didn't receive a gift. She didn't expect that Michael saw her sighing. Michael took it to heart.

Sarah asked, "Elizabeth, do you have a performance at this year's Christmas party?"

"Yes. A cello performance," Elizabeth replied.

Sarah was excited. "Wow, your forte. Will Mr. Thomas be there to watch? He hasn't seen you perform, right? Won't he be mesmerized when he sees it?"

Elizabeth glanced at Michael. Michael's eyes sparkled with longing to attend the party.

Elizabeth paused and answered Sarah, "He might find it too boring. After all, there is also a Christmas party in the company."

Michael, feeling misunderstood, said, "I..."

David raised his hand, "I want to attend the university's Christmas party too."

Sarah gently put his raised hand down, "Be good. You can attend the company's Christmas party instead."

David was dissatisfied, "Why? Why can't I go?"

Michael glanced at him sideways, "The school doesn't allow non-students to enter."

David was deflated, "Alright."

Michael then asked, "When is your party?"

Elizabeth was surprised, "Are you planning to go?"

Michael raised an eyebrow, "Why not?"

David queried, "Michael, didn't you say non-students aren't allowed?"

Michael gave a wicked smile, "I was talking about people like you. It doesn't include me."

David immediately hugged his arm. "Michael, please, take me with you."

Michael mercilessly brushed his hand away. "No."
