Chapter 353 Dispute
Dean looked at her with concern. "I'll keep an eye on things for now. You should stay offline for a bit. Don't let any of those negative comments get to you, alright?"
Elizabeth nodded. "Got it."
There was no doubt about it; this had to be Margaret's doing. She wanted Elizabeth out of Michael's life for good.
Dean went back to his room, opened his laptop, and logged onto the dark web using a fake identity.
Some time ago, Nolan discovered the existence of the dark web. When the dark web detected Nolan's surveillance, it activated its self-destruct protection system.
Dean didn't want to alert anyone, so he created a new identity and re-entered the dark web. He had already found some evidence of human trafficking.
The dark web's management seemed chaotic, but it actually had a complete industrial chain. The black market even included the trade of live organs.
Dean just wanted to find out Octavia's true identity as soon as possible.
The president's office at Stellar Enterprises.
Michael had been discharged from the hospital and was back to work.
Matthew sat on the couch across from Michael's desk. "Michael, I heard you were in the hospital? The night of the Ramirez family party, I didn't see you or Mr. Taylor when I left. I called you, but you didn't answer. How are you feeling now? Everything okay?"
Michael sat in his office chair, looking at him. "Nothing serious. My phone was probably on silent."
He had already told Daniel to keep quiet about the aphrodisiac incident that night. It wasn't something he wanted to publicize.
Officially, he had been hospitalized due to drinking too much and aggravating his stomach condition.
Matthew frowned deeply. "Michael, as a friend, I have to advise you to stay away from Elizabeth. She's not a good woman. And you should stay out of the Jones Group's affairs. Don't let her drag you down."
Michael hadn't been paying much attention to what Matthew was saying, but hearing him speak so harshly about Elizabeth made him a bit unhappy. "I know what I'm doing."
He turned his attention back to the documents on his desk. "I know better than you whether she's a good woman or not."
Seeing that Michael was unmoved, Matthew stood up and walked over to him. "Michael, have you ever thought that the Elizabeth you see is just the image she wants you to see? Do you know what she's like when you're not around? Have you ever tried to find out?"
Michael looked up at him calmly. "I don't know, but do you? Why are you so interested in my ex-wife? No matter what, she's the mother of my children. You've liked Margaret for so many years, but do you really know her? Do you know what she's done when you're not looking, what kind of person she is?"
There were several urgent matters at STellar Enterprises that Michael needed to handle, or he would have dealt with Margaret immediately.
For what Margaret had done to him that night, Michael would make sure she suffered, even if she didn't die.
In all his years running STellar Enterprises, no woman had ever dared to scheme against him so blatantly.
His repeated tolerance of Margaret had only fueled her arrogance.
Did she still think she was unique to him?
Years ago, her brother Samuel had plotted against him. If Elizabeth hadn't saved him from the mountain in time, he would have died there.
He had let the Taylor family off once because of her years of dedication to the company.
Later, she had brought Calla to the Thomas family, making amends, and he had agreed to let her return to STellar Enterprises' PR department, starting from the bottom.
After some time, he had promoted her to PR manager. To appease the previous PR manager, he had assigned them to a branch office to lead independently.
Margaret had only been back at STellar Enterprises for a short time, and she was already restless. She was truly incorrigible. She even dared to take such risks.
Who gave her the courage?
Matthew ignored the coldness in Michael's eyes and shouted, "Michael! I'm trying to give you good advice, and you're bringing up Margaret?"
Michael looked at him, his gaze probing. "You get so emotional when I mention Margaret. What's going on?"
Matthew opened his mouth but ultimately swallowed his words. He decided not to tell Michael. He was afraid Michael would lose control if he knew.
His eyes flickered. "It's nothing. I just suddenly thought about Elizabeth having the baby soon. After carrying the child for nine months, she might not want to leave the baby and could fight you for custody... Michael, I'm always on your side."
Michael ignored him and continued working.
Matthew persisted. "Michael, don't take what I'm saying lightly! Elizabeth is divorced from you. She can find another man to be happy with. Are you sure the baby is yours? Have you thought about getting a paternity test?"
"What if, just what if, the baby isn't yours? Will you still pay child support? Or will you take the baby from her and raise it yourself? Michael, you..."
Michael's gaze grew colder. "Matthew, in what capacity are you saying these things to me? As a subordinate or a friend? If you're a subordinate, it's work hours, and you're spreading rumors in your boss's office?"
"If you're a friend, I've tolerated your badmouthing her because we're friends. But if you keep slandering Elizabeth, our friendship will end."
Matthew hadn't expected Michael to defend Elizabeth so fiercely. He stared at Michael, speechless.
Michael completely ignored him. He pressed the intercom button for his secretary. "Come and get these documents."
Matthew sighed and left.
He had to find a way to make Michael see Elizabeth's true colors.
He couldn't just watch his good friend get played by a bad woman. Otherwise, Michael would be the one hurt in the end.
As soon as he entered the finance department office, he closed the door and called Daniel.
"Daniel, send me Elizabeth's phone number."
Daniel was puzzled about why Matthew suddenly wanted Elizabeth's number.
But he didn't see any harm in giving it to him. So, he found Elizabeth's number in his contacts and sent it to Matthew.
Matthew immediately called Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth, it's Matthew."
Elizabeth was puzzled by Matthew's call. They weren't close.
She figured Matthew must have gotten her number from Michael.
But what could he want?
"Hello, Mr. Anderson. What can I do for you?"
Matthew was momentarily taken aback by her formal tone.
"Elizabeth, I'm calling to warn you to stay away from Michael. You know why better than I do."
