Chapter 364 Uninvited Guest

Elizabeth laughed and patted Carter's hand. "Carter, we're friends. Why are you so nervous? What I'm trying to say is, next time something like this happens, think about yourself first, okay?"

"You're in the entertainment industry, and you rely on your fans' support. Please don't take on unnecessary blame because of me, alright?"

Carter's voice was low but firm. "If I can't follow my heart, then what's the point of staying in the industry? I'm here because I love music, not for fame."

"If telling the truth means getting blacklisted, then so be it. I'd rather have nothing than do something against my conscience."

Elizabeth knew there was no point in arguing further.

'Well, things like this don't happen often. We'll deal with the future when it comes.' she thought.

Carter's tone became serious. "And Elizabeth, I've thought about it. This incident affects Pearl and Nolan too. Pearl is already famous, and her background will eventually be dug up by the media."

"If this isn't resolved properly, you and Pearl will still be targets. She might even face issues at school. Are you willing to bear those consequences?"

Elizabeth looked down, silent.

She had considered this, which was one reason she reported the incident and publicly slapped Octavia.

She wanted everyone to know she wasn't someone to be messed with.

She hoped Pearl and Nolan could grow up without worries.

Of course, she wanted people to trust her, especially those she cared about the most.

Dean, Sarah, Carter—they all chose to believe in her without hesitation.

But the person who mattered most to her didn't trust her... Well, you can't have everything in life.

Elizabeth knew Pearl and Carter would be back today, so she had the kitchen prepare a feast.

The chef pulled out all the stops, creating a table full of delicious dishes.

Carter stayed for a wonderful lunch with everyone.

Afterward, they chatted for a while. Carter and Pearl shared funny stories from the show.

Before they knew it, it was afternoon, and Carter had to leave.

He had traveled a long way and hadn't rested properly. Elizabeth didn't want to keep him any longer. She walked him to the door, reminding him to rest well at home.

At the door, they saw an unexpected visitor.

Elizabeth's face immediately turned cold.

Dean and Carter both looked at Elizabeth.

The driver had already closed the car door. Carter rolled down the window and waved to Pearl. "Pearl, I hope we get to work together again."

Pearl replied seriously, "No problem, Mr. McGinnis."

Carter smiled as he left.

Elizabeth watched his car disappear, then turned back to the yard and said to Dean, "Close the door."

Dean glanced at Michael, who was standing in the sun, hesitated, then looked apologetically at Michael before closing the door.

It was unclear how long Michael had been standing there, just quietly standing. His eyes were filled with pain. But he knew it was all his fault.

He hadn't given Elizabeth enough trust from the start. When the video surfaced, he didn't stand by her and doubted her character, just like everyone else.

He even believed Matthew's words and easily concluded she had betrayed him.

He was the one who hurt her deeply.

Her choice to ignore him was expected.

It showed that his lack of trust had brought their relationship back to square one.

Michael didn't know how long he stood there, but he finally felt faint. His vision blurred, and he swayed.

A bodyguard quickly supported him. "Mr. Thomas, you haven't eaten or drunk anything for hours. The sun is so strong, you might get heatstroke."

"If you collapse, you'll end up in the hospital and won't be able to come back to Whispering Pines Estates. Let's go back and rest. You can come back tomorrow or tonight, okay?"

Michael's lips were already cracked. He nodded slightly. "Alright."

Elizabeth was still angry and wouldn't see him now.

The bodyguard helped him into the car. The car headed to the Thomas family villa.

Elizabeth, standing by the second-floor window, quickly drew the curtains.

Good thing he left in time. If he had fainted at her door, people might think she was to blame!

Then, no matter what she said, she wouldn't be able to clear her name.

But now that he was gone, she didn't know if she felt relieved or angrier.

At FutureTech Robotics Group, Jennifer watched the sudden shift in online opinion with a cold smile.

This Elizabeth was tougher than she thought.

She dialed a number. The phone was answered after one ring.

Margaret's voice was agitated. "Jennifer, are you calling to mock me? I'm in a bad mood! Think carefully before you speak!"

Jennifer chuckled. "Ms. Taylor, you're too used to your comfortable life. You haven't seen real cruelty. Your little tricks can't hurt Elizabeth. If you really want to deal with her, you need to get serious, make her bleed."

"Just like I did with her mother. She hates me, but she can't do anything about it because she has no proof."

Margaret was stunned. Jennifer was so brazen, even admitting to murder without a care.

"Jennifer, aren't you afraid I'll tell Elizabeth?"

Jennifer laughed. "Go ahead! She already knows! Why else would she hate me so much? But without evidence, what can she do? I'm still living freely, aren't I?"

Margaret asked humbly, "What should I do then?"

Jennifer replied, "I'll tell you. Do this..."

Finally, she reminded, "Remember, you can't be involved directly. Find a scapegoat, someone willing to take the fall for you..."

That night, at the Thomas family villa, Matthew came to see Michael.

Michael didn't greet him as warmly as before.

Matthew knew why. If he hadn't jumped to conclusions about Elizabeth and convinced Michael she was unfaithful, Michael wouldn't have doubted her when the pictures and comments surfaced.

Recently, Michael and Elizabeth's relationship had been improving.

Now, there was a deep rift between them.

Matthew felt guilty, knowing his words had caused this. He came to apologize.

"Michael, I'm sorry. I heard you went to see Elizabeth today, and she refused to see you."

Michael, sitting on the couch, looked worn out and tired. "That's my personal business. Please stay out of it."
