Chapter 531 Gunshot Wound
Michael gave Elizabeth's bodyguard a quick nod.
Before Elizabeth could hit the ground, the bodyguard caught her just in time.
"Mr. Thomas, what are you doing?"
Michael's voice was barely a whisper, "Get her out of here, now!"
The bodyguard immediately hoisted Elizabeth over his shoulder and hurried away.
Michael's voice echoed behind them, "Don't let me see her again! Or I'll feed you both to the sharks!"
Nearby guests turned to look, whispering among themselves.
Michael turned and walked away.
Cordelia approached him, "Michael, I couldn't find you and I started to panic."
Michael walked over to her, "Cordelia, the party has started. Let's go get something to eat."
Cordelia nodded, "Okay."
She turned to a nearby waitress, "Where's my dad? I haven't seen him all morning."
The waitress didn't have a chance to respond.
A man dressed in black, wearing a hat pulled low over his face, suddenly drew a gun and aimed it at Michael.
Elizabeth, carried by the bodyguard, was already off the yacht and onto a small boat, leaving international waters.
The boat was indeed prepared by Juan.
When she woke up, she was in a private hospital room.
Elizabeth sat up, touching the sore spot on her neck, "Michael really didn't hold back."
The bodyguard replied, "If he didn't hit you hard, you wouldn't have passed out. And if you didn't pass out, you wouldn't have left. This was the quickest way. I wanted to try it myself but didn't dare."
Elizabeth glared at him.
"Why did you bring me to the hospital?"
The bodyguard looked a bit sheepish, "What if you had some aftereffects from Michael's hit? I thought it was best to get you checked out."
Elizabeth thought, despite his unreliability, the bodyguard did well this time.
She got out of bed and put on her shoes, still feeling a bit dizzy, "Help me. I need to talk to the doctor."
The bodyguard supported Elizabeth as they walked out.
Elizabeth approached the nurse's station, about to speak, when a nurse hung up the phone and shouted to the doctor in the office, "There's a gunshot victim from a yacht, prepare for emergency treatment."
Elizabeth froze.
A yacht?
Her first thought was that something had happened on the Murphy family's yacht.
A gunshot wound?
Elizabeth suddenly felt a wave of dizziness.
When Michael saw her again, he must have known there was danger on the yacht, which is why he knocked her out to force her to leave.
In other words, Michael knew the danger was aimed at him.
Elizabeth's mind was in chaos.
Who got hurt? Could it be Michael? After all, he was alone on the Murphy family's yacht, with no backup. If it was an assassination attempt targeting him, he wouldn't stand a chance.
Elizabeth pulled out her phone and immediately called Michael. She didn't know if he would answer, but she had to know if he was hurt.
The bodyguard suggested, "Ms. Jones, maybe we should go back to your room."
Elizabeth kept dialing, muttering, "Yes, yes, back to the room."
Michael didn't answer.
So she called Juan.
Michael must have known something. Otherwise, he wouldn't have specifically instructed the bodyguard to take her away.
Juan took his sweet time answering, "Oh, you're awake?"
Elizabeth was taken aback. How did he know she had just woken up?
"Mr. Stewart, how did you know I just woke up?" she asked, glancing around suspiciously. "Are you spying on me?"
Juan laughed, "Michael knocked you out in front of everyone. Do I need to spy on you?"
Elizabeth felt a bit embarrassed but then relaxed. If Michael was hurt, Juan wouldn't be so calm.
"Mr. Stewart, did you know there would be a shootout on the yacht?"
Juan laughed again, "Elizabeth, you're not completely clueless."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes dramatically. "Mr. Stewart, how is Michael? Is he hurt?"
"You called just to ask that?"
"What else?"
Juan chuckled, "Right, you boarded the yacht for him in the first place."
His tone suddenly became serious, "Don't worry. Your ex-husband is fine."
Elizabeth didn't argue about his term for Michael. Knowing Michael was safe, she finally relaxed and let out a long breath.
Not long after she hung up, Nolan called. He had been keeping an eye on the news from Majestic City.
"Mom, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, honey. I'll be home soon."
Nolan had seen that Elizabeth was in a hospital. He frowned slightly. What happened to her? Why was she in the hospital?
He needed to find out.
Elizabeth didn't know that shortly after she left the yacht, Cordelia had stood by Michael's side.
She had witnessed everything between them. She also saw the man in black draw his gun. Without a word, she threw herself at Michael.
Michael hadn't even processed what was happening when he heard a gunshot.
The crowd screamed and scattered. The Murphy family's bodyguards quickly surrounded the man.
Cordelia's eyes were closed, sweat streaming down her face. Michael held her, shouting, "Cordelia! Cordelia! What's wrong?"
Cordelia slowly collapsed. Michael held her, kneeling on the deck.
His left hand felt something wet. He looked down to see his hand covered in blood. It was Cordelia's blood. She was unconscious.
He immediately ordered, "Go inform Mr. Murphy! Cordelia is hurt!"
In a fixed room on the second floor of the yacht, Gerald was drinking with his only son, Victor.
"Dad, why didn't you tell me Cordelia was getting married?"
Gerald was indifferent, "It happened suddenly, no time to inform you."
"No matter how sudden, it's Cordelia's big day. It's more important than anything."
"Alright, enough. You made it to the party, didn't you?"
Victor was fuming.
A servant knocked lightly but urgently, "Mr. Murphy."
Gerald didn't look up, "Come in."
The servant entered, hesitating when he saw Victor.
Gerald frowned, "Speak up! What's the matter?"
The servant quickly reported, "Mr. Murphy, Ms. Murphy is hurt. It's a gunshot wound."
Victor looked at the servant in disbelief.
Gerald stood up abruptly, eyes wide, "What did you say? Where is Cordelia now?"
He spoke while hurrying out. The servant followed closely.
"Ms. Murphy was with Mr. Thomas. The target was Mr. Thomas. Ms. Murphy took the bullet for him."
Gerald rushed downstairs. After he left, Victor also hurried out.
As he descended, he angrily asked his assistant, "What happened? How did Cordelia get hurt?"
