Chapter 357 Self-Verification
In the office of the Director of Technology at The Jones Group, Dean took screenshots of the top-liked comments under the video.
He checked the accounts of those commenters and noted their follower counts. Then, he deleted all related videos, screenshots, and comments from the internet.
He even set "Elizabeth" as a banned word.
Any further negative comments about Elizabeth would result in an immediate account ban.
Dean called Elizabeth, "Hey, Elizabeth, that video is completely wiped from the internet now."
Elizabeth stayed calm, "Good. Dean, did you keep the evidence?"
Dean reviewed the screenshots he had saved, "Yeah, I kept everything and sent it to the company's legal team."
Elizabeth nodded, "Great. Let's not worry about those people for now. Folks online just like to follow the crowd. Have the legal team focus on those accounts with big followings. They can expect a court summons. I want financial compensation and a public apology from them."
"And don't forget to issue a statement on the company's account. I don't want this happening again."
Dean felt relieved, "Exactly. Elizabeth, that's how you handle things! Otherwise, people will think you're an easy target."
Elizabeth sincerely said, "Dean, thank you. You and Sarah have given me the confidence to know I'm not fighting alone."
"Elizabeth, you know I'll always be on your side."
As Elizabeth packed her things, she said, "I need to go see Aiden."
Dean guessed, "Are you looking for evidence?"
"Yes." She sounded weary, "I really hate this. Every time I'm slandered, I have to find evidence to prove my innocence. Why should I have to?"
Dean heard her soft sobs, and his heart tightened.
At the Ramirez family hotel, Elizabeth sat in Aiden's office.
Aiden waved his assistant away, "You can go now, and close the door."
The assistant placed a glass of water down and quietly left.
Elizabeth gently pushed the glass away and smiled slightly, "I'll pass on the water. I don't dare consume anything from Mr. Ramirez's place anymore. I don't want to be disgraced again."
Aiden blushed with guilt, "Ms. Jones, I am deeply sorry. I've seen the online comments, and they are very unfair to you. I never expected someone in my hotel to be so malicious. That person not only slandered you but also implicated my hotel."
"Personally, I absolutely don't believe the person in the video is you, Ms. Jones. Unfortunately, online rumors spread like wildfire and are hard to contain."
He shook his head and sighed.
Elizabeth remained composed, "Mr. Ramirez, you don't want your hotel to lose business over this, do you? After all, potential guests might hesitate to book, wondering if there are hidden cameras in the rooms or if they'll be secretly filmed."
Aiden frowned slightly, "Our PR team has been discussing this issue today."
Elizabeth raised her chin, "Has your company come up with a solution?"
Aiden shook his head helplessly, "In the hotel industry, any mention of hidden cameras is a major taboo. To attract guests, we might have to lower our room rates temporarily."
Elizabeth immediately responded, "Absolutely not! The Ramirez family hotel is known for prioritizing guest experience and has an impeccable reputation in the industry."
She continued, "Your service and accommodations are top-notch in Aurora Bay. If you lower the rates, it will be seen as an admission of guilt and will be exploited by others."
Aiden was taken aback. He had considered this but was desperate to save the hotel as many guests were canceling their reservations, including long-term VIP clients.
He looked at Elizabeth and sincerely asked, "Ms. Jones, what should I do?"
Elizabeth replied earnestly, "Mr. Ramirez, by asking me this, you show your trust in me. I need your help to provide evidence to clear my name."
Aiden pounded his chest, "That's my responsibility! No problem! Leave it to me!"
Elizabeth said, "Mr. Ramirez, you were also implicated because of me. We just need to find evidence proving I was framed, identify the person who set us up, and let the law deal with them. That will solve everything."
Aiden slapped his thigh, "Why didn't I think of that?"
In truth, he was lying. Initially, he had thought of it, but when he first saw the video, he also believed the woman was Elizabeth.
After all, the woman's face, voice, and pregnant belly all matched Elizabeth's.
He had been afraid to confront Elizabeth, fearing it would damage his relationship with The Jones Group, a major client.
Now that she was here, confidently asserting her innocence, he believed her.
Aiden, experienced in dealing with people, could tell Elizabeth was not lying.
Having decided to cooperate with her, he was ready to show his full support.
Aiden returned to his desk and called on the intercom, "Who was in charge of security on the second floor last Sunday night? Send them in."
Soon, a young security guard entered.
Aiden asked, "Were you responsible for security on the second floor during the banquet last Sunday night?"
The young guard, nervous to be in Aiden's presence, replied, "Yes, Mr. Ramirez."
Aiden spoke gently, "I'm not here to blame you, just to ask a few questions. Just answer truthfully."
The guard nodded, "Yes, Mr. Ramirez."
"Is there still surveillance footage from that night on the second floor?"
"Yes."
"Send it over."
"Mr. Ramirez, I sent it to your company email before coming here."
Aiden and Elizabeth exchanged glances.
Aiden nodded, "Did you notice anything unusual?"
The guard respectfully answered, "Mr. Ramirez, on Sunday night, Ms. Jones was escorted to her room by a waiter. The waiter only swiped the room card for her and did not enter the room. After Ms. Jones went in, the waiter left quickly. No one else entered the room until Ms. Jones left. She was alone in the room the entire time."
Aiden frowned, "Then how did Ms. Jones..."
He wanted to ask how Elizabeth was filmed but realized the woman in the video wasn't her.
The guard continued, "Mr. Ramirez, I heard from the front desk staff that a young woman checked in earlier that day. That woman..."
He glanced quickly at Elizabeth and then looked down, "That woman looked very much like Ms. Jones. But she was younger... and more attractive..."
