Chapter 136 Is This Child Yours?

Outside Elizabeth's office, the phone at the secretary's desk rang.

The secretary quickly stopped chatting and picked up the phone.

"Is Ms. Jones's guest still there?" the receptionist asked.

The secretary replied, "You mean that tall, handsome guy? Yeah, he's still here."

The receptionist said, "Just now, a Mr. Thomas went up. He's looking for Ms. Jones. He looked pretty intense! I couldn't stop him at all! Mr. Martin happened to be here, and he said he knew Mr. Thomas. He caught up with him and took him up the elevator to find Ms. Jones!"

As soon as the secretary hung up the phone, she heard the elevator on the top floor ding.

The elevator doors opened.

Ryan respectfully led Michael over.

Michael was tall and muscular, even more so than the guy who had just been there.

His features were chiseled, and his eyes were deep-set.

His entire face looked like it had been meticulously sculpted by the most famous sculptor—it was flawless.

The only imperfection was his current expression.

His face was clouded with anger, as if he was about to explode any second.

When the secretaries saw Dean earlier, they thought he was a sunny, cheerful guy.

But Michael, they didn't even dare to look up and examine him closely.

Ryan asked the secretary sitting at the outermost desk, Cecilia Thorne, "Cecilia, is Ms. Jones in her office?"

Cecilia didn't dare to look up, almost burying her head on her computer screen. "Ms. Jones is in, but she's a bit busy."

Ryan smiled. "Busy at work? What's so inconvenient about that?"

As a long-time employee of the Jones Group, Ryan knew that Michael and Elizabeth had an unusual relationship.

Without delay, he pushed open the wooden door to the president's office.

At the moment the door opened, Ryan was stunned. "Indeed, not very convenient."

Elizabeth was leaning back in her office chair.

Dean was leaning sideways on her desk, and the two were talking face to face.

The desk was directly facing the door.

To an outsider, their posture looked very intimate.

The secretaries outside craned their necks, trying to see inside.

Ryan said, "Ms. Jones, Mr. Thomas is here!"

He turned around and quickly closed the door from the outside.

He lightly patted his chest. That was close.

He didn't want to stay in such a situation.

What if he got caught in the crossfire?

He quickly escaped.

As soon as he came out, the secretaries grabbed him. "Mr. Martin, is that handsome guy also Ms. Jones's man?"

Ryan replied, "Stop talking nonsense and get back to work. Don't pry into her business!"

One of the secretaries said, "But he's so handsome! Even more so than the first guy!"

Ryan said, "No matter how handsome he is, he's not for you! Do you know who that is? Mr. Thomas from Stellar Enterprises! Can you handle him?"

The secretaries exclaimed. "Mr. Thomas? Stellar Enterprises? Michael? The legend in the business world?"

"Oh my God! This Mr. Thomas is so handsome, but it seems like he's not very welcome with our Ms. Jones."

"All of Ms. Jones's men are so handsome."

"I wonder if Ms. Jones can handle it?"

While they were discussing, the atmosphere in the office was intense.

Michael stared intently at Dean.

Dean walked over to him, smiling and extending his hand. "Hello! Elizabeth's ex-husband!"

Michael's icy gaze shot toward Elizabeth. "Who is he? How does he know so much about our relationship? Did you tell him everything? Is he your lover from abroad all these years?"

Elizabeth didn't say anything. She pulled Dean back.

Michael's anger was about to boil over. "How long have you known him? You're protecting him in front of me?"

Elizabeth wasn't backing down. "Michael, get your facts straight. We're already divorced. Even if we weren't, I have the freedom to make friends. It's none of your business."

Michael took a step forward, closing the gap between them.

He towered over her, his eyes blazing with anger.

Elizabeth felt a bit uneasy seeing him like this.

This was the calm before Michael's storm.

Elizabeth opened the door and pushed Dean out. "Wait for me outside."

Then, she slammed the door shut.

Elizabeth barely had time to turn around.

Suddenly, she let out a startled cry.

Michael had somehow already moved behind her.

He grabbed her arm and pressed her hard against the wall by the door.

Michael's left hand was propped up beside her, his tall body looming over her.

Elizabeth felt a strong sense of oppression.

She wanted to escape, but Michael's right hand was tightly gripping her arm.

His eyes were like they were spitting fire at her.

Elizabeth couldn't stand his gaze. She turned her head away.

Michael reached out his large hand, pinched her chin, and forced her to turn her head and look at him.

Elizabeth was flared up too. "Michael! Enough! We're already divorced! What you're doing now is illegal! I can sue you for sexual harassment!"

Michael ignored her accusations.

He glared at her with bloodshot eyes, breathing heavily as he questioned her, "Who exactly is that man to you?"

Elizabeth slapped away his hand that was gripping her chin and slowly put some distance between them. "A friend."

"What kind of friend?" Michael followed closely behind her, pressing her step by step.

Elizabeth glared at him. "A good friend! A very good one! What does it have to do with you? Have you sorted out your own affairs? One living in your house, another kept in a villa outside! And you come to question me? What right do you have to question me?"

She was no longer afraid of him and shouted at him.

The people outside the door were wide-eyed. "They have a complicated relationship."

"Is this a case of mutual infidelity? She finds a lover, and he finds a lover?"

Dean leaned against the secretary's desk, also listening with his ear to the door.

The door had excellent soundproofing.

Unless Elizabeth and Michael were very loud, he couldn't hear anything.

In the office, Elizabeth had already sat back in her chair.

She crossed her arms and looked coldly at Michael. "The door is behind you. You can leave. I'm very busy. We're already divorced, so don't come and disturb my life again."

Michael walked up and placed a piece of paper on her desk.

Then he stared at her face, not missing a single change in her expression.

Elizabeth looked at it curiously. Where did Michael get this paper from? What was on it?

She looked at it nonchalantly.

She thought, 'This is Nolan's enrollment form at Global Horizons International School! Does he notice Nolan? What is he going to do to Nolan? How could the school give Nolan's information to Michael so casually!? They are so irresponsible!'

Elizabeth's initial tension and fear turned into anger.

She couldn't let Michael see any clues. "What are you showing me this for?"

Michael's voice trembled, even though he didn't notice it himself, "Elizabeth, is this child yours?"
