Chapter 497 Agreement
The spacious office suddenly fell into an unusual silence.
Elizabeth glanced at Dean quietly, "Dean, I know I'm being selfish. The Jones Group isn't just a company; it's your hard work. Giving it away must be hard for you."
Dean forced a smile, hiding his emotions, "Elizabeth, no matter what you do, I'll support you without hesitation. Just like when you gave up everything in Valoria to come back here, I followed you. Although I've poured my heart into the Jones Group, it can't compare to your sacrifices. It's your company; you can give it to whoever you want. You must have your reasons. In the future, whatever plans you have, I'll be by your side supporting you."
He stood up, walked over to her, and patted her shoulder, "Elizabeth, even though giving up the Jones Group is really tough for me, I know it's even harder for you. After all, it's your father's legacy. No one understands you, but as your best male friend, how could I oppose you? Elizabeth, no matter what happens, remember, I'm always your last resort."
Elizabeth's eyes reddened, and she fought back tears, hugging Dean tightly, "Dean, thank you!"
Dean laughed and gently pushed her away, "Don't be like this, Elizabeth. I'm afraid Daniel will get jealous. If he comes to fight you, I wouldn't know how to handle it."
Elizabeth laughed at his joke.
Dean then said seriously, "I still hope you can tell Michael everything. You two are married, and you should share everything. You shouldn't keep this from him, especially since it involves Eloise. That's his bottom line."
Elizabeth looked down, "I will tell him, I just haven't figured out how yet."
Dean left her office, closing the door behind him.
Elizabeth immediately contacted William and arranged to meet at a café.
Anthony refused to join this time; he had developed a dislike for cafés.
They agreed that William would bring Quinn along.
Elizabeth arrived early at Serenity Brew Café.
As soon as William sat down, he reminded Elizabeth, "Ms. Jones, let's keep this brief. Ask your questions quickly and let Quinn leave. I'm worried Michael might have someone following you."
Elizabeth glanced out the window. It was nearing noon, and the sun was high in the sky, making the street clearly visible.
She didn't see anyone suspicious across the street.
Elizabeth spoke, "Quinn, I have something to ask you."
Quinn smiled and nodded at her, "I know. William told me on the way here."
Elizabeth turned to William, "Mr. Thomas, could you please give us some privacy? I want to talk to Quinn alone."
William didn't move.
Elizabeth frowned, "Mr. Thomas, are you afraid I'll run off with Quinn? I'm here alone without any bodyguards."
William thought for a moment, then picked up his coffee cup and moved to a nearby table, but kept his eyes on them.
Once he was out of earshot, Elizabeth spoke softly to Quinn, "Quinn, this is really hard for me to ask. I don't know if I should."
Quinn kept smiling at her, "Dr. Jones, can I call you 'Elizabeth' like everyone else?"
Elizabeth nodded immediately, "Of course."
Quinn smiled, "So, Elizabeth, what do you need from me?"
Elizabeth couldn't look directly at his smiling face. She lowered her head and spoke quietly, "Quinn, your twin sister Eloise has a severe kidney disease. She needs a kidney transplant to survive..."
Quinn interrupted her, nodding quickly, "Elizabeth, do you need one of my kidneys? Take it! Save her!"
Elizabeth was shocked, "Quinn, you agreed so easily? You haven't even met Eloise."
Quinn's smile seemed permanent, "Elizabeth, if it weren't for your surgery, I'd still be living in a daze. A day or a year means nothing to me. I don't plan to marry or have children, nor do I hope for a long life. If there's another relative of mine in danger and I can save her, why wouldn't I? If I refuse, she'll die, right?"
Elizabeth nodded, then shook her head, "Not necessarily. She just needs to wait for a matching kidney, but we don't know how long that will take."
"Then let's not wait. She might not survive the wait. I'd like to meet her, my sister whom I've never met."
Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears. She reached out and gently held Quinn's hands, "Quinn, thank you so much! On behalf of Eloise, thank you! You and Eloise are both wonderful, kind people."
"Elizabeth, you are the truly wonderful one. This situation originally had nothing to do with you, did it?"
Elizabeth shook her head vigorously, "No! Quinn, don't think too highly of me! I have selfish thoughts too. I hesitated before deciding to save Eloise. She once saved my son, and that's why she's in danger now. I can't ignore her. Plus, she was my husband's sister, and I don't want him to worry."
Quinn nodded, "Alright, Elizabeth, I respect your choices."
He suddenly frowned, "But, Elizabeth, are you sure you can take me away?"
He looked at Elizabeth, still smiling, his voice very low, as if his frown was just her imagination.
"Elizabeth, William and Anthony watch me closely. You'll need a good plan to take me away."
Elizabeth was about to say something when William came over and pulled Quinn up, "Time's up. We're going home."
He led Quinn out of the café.
Quinn looked back at Elizabeth with concern as they left.
Across the street, on the second floor of a clothing store, a man was watching through binoculars.
Behind him, a woman called out, "Honey, how does this outfit look on me?"
The man didn't even glance up, "It's beautiful, just perfect."
The woman stomped her foot in frustration, "I knew you weren't paying attention to me!"
The man quickly put down the binoculars and ran over, grabbing her arm, "Baby, I wasn't! You're all I think about!"
The woman pushed his hand away, "You're just brushing me off! I'm wearing the same outfit I left the house in! I've had it on all day!"
