Chapter 135 Ms. Jones's Man
Michael rubbed his temples, feeling dizzy and nauseous from the cockroaches. His brain was in a fog.
Daniel kept talking, "Look, they know it's tough to get to you directly. So, they took a roundabout approach. First, a hacker got into Anthony's phone and snagged some of your info. Then, they used that to get to you. The hacker found a way in and hit Stellar Enterprises, right? And remember when Global Horizons International School got hacked? Think about it, where did you leave the most detailed info? Wasn't it at Global Horizons? That's why they went after the school! From the start, their target was you!"
Michael nodded. Daniel's logic was solid.
But something still felt off.
The cockroaches on his computer were gone. The IT department said they didn't remove them; the hacker did. And none of the company's confidential files were touched. This whole network mess seemed like a prank.
Michael couldn't believe it. A hacker caused all this chaos just for fun? Who would be that bored?
He sat back in his chair and told everyone to get back to work. He needed some time to think.
Previously, Global Horizons International School had suffered a hacker attack, and everyone had assumed it was an attempt to kidnap Eloise
But Eloise was safe and even had her surgery early because of it. The hacker wasn't after Eloise. Even if it was related to her, Michael's gut said the hacker didn't mean her any harm.
Everyone's computers were paralyzed, but only his had those gross cockroaches. It seemed like the hacker was targeting him specifically, just to mess with him.
This didn't seem like a competitor's move. Who had such a grudge against him that they'd pull a prank like this? If it were a competitor, they'd steal confidential files and cause real damage.
Who could it be?
Suddenly, Michael remembered Nolan, the kid who had poured water on him. He was too focused on finding Eloise at the time to pay much attention. But now, he recalled how Nolan had deliberately bumped into him and spilled water. Even though Nolan wore a hat, Michael could see the provocation in the lower half of his face.
Michael frowned. Why would a three or four-year-old boy have such a grudge against him?
He had to personally find out who Nolan was.
Without wasting any time, he drove to Global Horizons International School.
In the principal's office, he found Nolan's enrollment form on the desk.
[Name: Nolan Jones.]
[Mother: Elizabeth Jones.]
[Age: Four years old.]
Michael stared at the name "Elizabeth" on the form, deep in thought.
A storm raged in Michael's heart. Nolan was Elizabeth's son?
It all clicked now.
Elizabeth hated him so much. It made sense that Nolan would hate him too. But Nolan being four years old? What did that mean?
It meant Elizabeth was already pregnant shortly after they got married.
Whose kid was Nolan? It couldn't be Anthony's. Was it his?
She did have an abortion back then. But later, they had sex several times without any protection. She could have gotten pregnant again.
Michael pressed his lips tightly together. He had to get to the bottom of this! Nolan could very well be his son!
Michael urgently asked the principal, "Where is this kid now? I need to see him! Right away!"
The principal said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Mr. Thomas. Nolan's mother specifically instructed that Nolan has a unique psychological condition and is very averse to strangers. If he does something to harm you, it would be difficult to handle."
Michael asked curiously, "Then how does he attend classes?"
The principal replied, "Nolan has his own classroom with two teachers watching over him. He has no interaction with the teachers; they don't interfere with each other. The teachers are just there to ensure his safety. He doesn't need any teaching from them."
Michael nodded. "He is indeed a strange child. What does he do at school every day?"
The principal replied, "He brings a laptop every day. He just plays on the computer in the classroom."
Michael was shocked by this. Nolan liked to play on the computer! A four-year-old child was the culprit behind his company's network paralysis. This sounded unbelievable. But Michael felt that the skilled hacker must be related to Nolan! At the very least, related to Elizabeth!
Michael picked up the information on the desk and strode out. He was going to the Jones Group to confront Elizabeth in person!
At the Jones Group, the receptionist called Elizabeth, "Ms. Jones, there's a gentleman here to see you. He doesn't have an appointment, but he says he knows the code to your private elevator."
Elizabeth was flipping through product information with one hand. Hearing this, she smiled lightly. "Alright, let him come up."
Soon, a tall, handsome man arrived. He stood outside the CEO's office, leaning against the doorframe, and knocked lightly. His eyes were lazy and charming.
Elizabeth looked up and saw him, giving him a helpless smile. "The door's open, just come in. Do I have to come and greet you?"
Despite saying this, she put down the documents in her hand, left her seat, and walked over with a smile. The man at the door walked towards her and gave her a big hug. He held Elizabeth close and whispered in her ear, "Elizabeth, I've missed you so much."
The secretaries outside the office immediately gathered and whispered among themselves, "Oh my God! He's so handsome!"
"Really! He's so tall! And his eyes are so charming!"
"So what if he's handsome? Don't even think about it! Didn't you see him hugging Ms. Jones? Do you still want to covet Ms. Jones' man? Do you want to lose your job?"
"Just looking is fine! It's not like we have to be with him."
"Exactly! It's rare to see such a handsome guy; we should take a good look."
"Ms. Jones has great taste, finding such a handsome boyfriend!"
