Chapter 245 I Have Always Loved Her

Elizabeth shrank back in fear, but being in the car, she had nowhere to go. Looking around in disbelief, she asked, "Why am I in your car?"

She then looked at Michael and said, "Did you kidnap me?"

He rolled his eyes and replied, "Why would I kidnap you?"

Elizabeth asked again, "How did I get here? Did you knock me out?"

Michael rolled his eyes again and said, "I called you, but you wouldn't wake up. Did I really need to knock you out?"

Elizabeth said, "Did you get my permission to bring me here?"

Michael suddenly turned to face her, and Elizabeth shrank back in fear again. "What are you doing?" she asked.

Michael asked, "Do you know Carter?"

Elizabeth was stunned for a moment when she heard the name. "The big star? The singer?" she asked.

Michael replied, "Yes. Do you know him?"

Elizabeth said, "I know him, but he probably doesn't know me."

Michael said, "Elizabeth, think carefully before you answer!"

"I'm telling the truth. He's a big star with millions of fans. It's normal for me to know him!" Elizabeth responded.

Michael said, "You never used to be a fan! But now, you have so many of Carter's photo albums at home!"

Elizabeth said, "Do you really understand me? When I lived in your house, did I have any personal freedom?"

Michael was at a loss for words. He sat back down, his tone serious. "I'm not joking with you. I need to find Carter. I have something very important to discuss with him," he insisted.

Elizabeth said, "Then you should contact his family! Why are you looking for me?"

"The Jones Group hasn't had any new orders, right?" Michael asked.

Hearing this, Elizabeth turned her head to look out the window and responded, "There will be soon. This is just a temporary setback."

She was afraid he would mock her for not having a business mind and not knowing how to run a business.

But Michael didn't think that way. He grabbed her by the shoulders, his eyes filled with anger.

Elizabeth didn't understand why he was so angry. She hadn't provoked him.

Michael said, "Elizabeth, you're right. The Jones Group will soon turn things around and get new orders. Because you hired a big star to do an advertisement for you!"

Elizabeth was confused. "What?" she asked.

Michael was angry. "You're still pretending with me!"

Hearing this, Elizabeth was anxious. She really didn't know! What was Michael talking about?

Michael continued, "Early this morning, Carter posted a video on his private account, specifically promoting your household robot. He even tagged the Jones Group. Don't tell me you didn't know!"

Elizabeth's eyes widened when she heard this.

What was Carter doing? Didn't she say he needed to rest for at least six months? Why couldn't he stay quiet? Was he deliberately helping her because he knew her company was struggling?

If so, she owed him a huge favor.

Michael grabbed Elizabeth's chin, bringing her face close to his.

"Are you saying you didn't ask Carter to do the advertisement?" he asked.

Elizabeth pushed his hand away. "Are you stupid? If it was really an advertisement for the Jones Group, why wouldn't I post it on the company's official website? And why post it at midnight? You're in business too, don't you understand that?"

Michael snorted coldly and replied, "Who knows what you're up to?"

"Wait a minute. Aren't you supposed to get engaged today?" Elizabeth looked at the sunlight outside. "What time is it? Aren't you going to the chapel? Wouldn't your fiancée be worried?" she asked.

Michael stared at her, not missing any subtle expression on her face.

He asked, "Elizabeth, knowing that I'm getting engaged to Calla, are you heartbroken?"

Meanwhile, back at the old Thomas family mansion, Calla was getting ready in front of the mirror while Anthony stood quietly at the door, watching her.

The makeup artist was finishing up her hair. After putting on the last piece of jewelry, Calla said to the makeup artist, "You can go now."

The makeup artist left with her case.

Anthony closed the door and said, "Are you happy that you're finally getting what you wanted today?"

Calla looked at her beautifully made-up reflection in the mirror and responded, "You don't have to be so sarcastic. If you were marrying Elizabeth, wouldn't you be happy?"

Anthony looked dejected.

"I did like Elizabeth once. But that was many years ago," he said.

Calla asked, "You don't like her anymore?"

Anthony replied, "Time changes people."

Calla laughed and said, "Don't tell me you like me now!"

Anthony looked at her in the mirror, not saying a word.

Calla's smile faded. "Anthony, I'm warning you, I'm getting engaged to Michael today. Don't cause any trouble."

Anthony looked gloomy, but he said, "Don't worry. I'll wish you well."

"What time is it? Has Michael arrived?" Calla asked.

Anthony responded, "Not yet."

Calla stood up, frowning as she looked out the window. "Didn't he say he'd pick me up at nine? It's already past nine."

She lifted her skirt and paced around the room.

Anthony grabbed her and said, "I'll take you there first. Maybe he's waiting at the chapel."

Calla nodded and said, "Alright."

Anthony drove, taking Calla and Mary to the chapel.

In the Rolls-Royce on Sunset Serenity Avenue, Elizabeth crossed her arms, continuing to confront Michael.

She said, "Michael, give me my phone back and let me out. I have to go to work."

"Your company's crisis will be resolved today. Why are you in such a hurry to go to work?" Michael responded.

Elizabeth said, "That's my business! You're illegally restricting my personal freedom! I'll sue you!"

Michael continued, "You haven't answered my question. Can you help me contact Carter?"

Elizabeth replied, "No. I'm not close to him."

Michael opened her phone contacts and didn't find Carter's contact information.

He said, "Second question. I'm getting engaged. How do you feel about that?"

In the city center chapel, the guests were already seated.

Calla sat in the dressing room, frowning. She repeatedly called Michael, but it was unreachable.

Mary came in and asked, "Calla, have you reached Michael?"

Calla shook her head.

Mary was worried and continued, "Did something happen on the way? The bodyguard said he left early in the morning."

Calla said, "Mrs. Thomas, please go to the banquet hall and reassure the guests. I'll try calling him again."

She then took a deep breath and dialed Michael's number again. Finally, it connected.

She smiled with relief. "Michael, you finally answered. Where are you? We're already at the chapel. Just come straight here. The engagement ceremony is about to start."

Michael's voice was cold. "Calla, I'm sorry, there's no engagement ceremony. Cancel it."

Calla stood up abruptly, her expression falling apart. "Why?"

Michael replied, "I've thought it over. I don't love you. We won't be happy together."

Calla asked, "Are you with Elizabeth?"

Michael responded, "Yes. The one I love has always been her. That has never changed."
