Chapter 175 An Ex-family Member
Michael didn't really care where Dean had gone. He frowned and asked Sarah, "Where's Elizabeth? Isn't she here yet?"
Sarah looked worried too. "Dean just called her. She said she was eating at a restaurant and would be here in 20 minutes."
She checked her watch. "It's been way over 20 minutes now. But she's still not here. Dean and I are both scared to call her. It's already dark, and we don't want her answering the phone while driving. It could cause an accident."
Michael pulled out his phone and checked all the hotels and restaurants within a 20-minute drive.
There was only one restaurant, Elegant Eats, near The Jones Group.
The road from that restaurant to here was clear, no traffic jams.
Michael couldn't wait any longer and dialed Elizabeth's number.
The phone rang once and someone picked up.
Michael anxiously shouted, "Elizabeth, where are you? Did something happen? Why aren't you at the hotel yet?"
A stranger's voice came through, "Hello. This is Elegant Eats. Are you a friend of the owner of this phone?"
Michael's brow furrowed even more. "Isn't this Elizabeth's phone? Who are you? What happened to her? Why do you have her phone?"
The man replied politely, "Sir, your friend fainted at the entrance of our restaurant. We just found out and recognize this as our oversight. We deeply apologize. Our staff has already called for an ambulance, and it will arrive soon. If you're worried, you can come over. Our address is..."
Michael didn't wait for him to finish and hung up the phone. He ran out of the hotel and instructed the driver, "Elegant Eats, now."
The black Rolls-Royce shot into the night like a rocket and arrived at Elegant Eats.
Without waiting for the driver to open the door, Michael got out of the car.
He rushed into the restaurant, shouting, "Elizabeth!"
Elizabeth was lying unconscious on a sofa booth, with paramedics performing pre-hospital checks on her.
A man who saw Michael walk in greeted him. "Mr. Thomas? We spoke on the phone. Here are this lady's bag and phone. Please take them for her."
His forehead was already covered in sweat.
Since Eloise went missing last time, Michael had been haunted by the same feeling of almost losing someone important.
He asked the doctor, "How is she?"
The doctor replied, "We did a random blood sugar test for the patient. Her blood sugar level is low. It should be a temporary coma caused by hypoglycemia. She can go to the hospital for a glucose infusion."
Michael nodded. He gently picked up Elizabeth and walked out of the restaurant.
He then placed Elizabeth in the back seat, his movements extremely gentle.
Michael instructed the driver, "Follow the ambulance to the hospital."
Upon arriving at the hospital, the nurse drew blood from Elizabeth and started a glucose infusion.
While Elizabeth was receiving the infusion, the emergency doctor came over. "Are you a family member of the patient?"
He nodded. "Yes."
The doctor said, "The patient is still unconscious. Our pre-hospital paramedics measured her blood sugar, and it was low. We can't rule out a temporary coma from hypoglycemia, but we also need to consider other factors. There could be other dangers."
Michael nodded. "I get it. We'll cooperate. Just make sure she gets the best care."
The doctor replied, "Of course. We treat every patient with care. Now, we need to do a full-body checkup. The blood we drew will be used to measure biochemical indicators and blood cell counts. We need to see if she has anemia or other conditions."
When the test results came out, the nurse handed the report to Michael and explained, "The patient not only has hypoglycemia but also anemia and malnutrition. She needs to supplement her nutrition and get plenty of rest, avoiding overexertion."
Michael looked at Elizabeth's test report, lost in thought.
He put her report into her bag.
By this time, the infusion was already finished.
At the Celestial Garden Hotel Emerald Hall, Louis sat in the guest seat.
All night, he was restless, frequently glancing towards the hall entrance.
He was looking for Elizabeth, but by 8:00 PM, she still hadn't shown up.
The Jones Group employees were busy greeting the guests. Elizabeth's photos and her achievements in recent years were being displayed on the screen.
The guests were all talking about the Jones Group's young and beautiful CEO. Everyone was curious why Elizabeth hadn't shown up tonight.
Louis was uneasy, feeling that something had happened to Elizabeth.
He first called the operating room at Harmony Health Hospital.
The duty nurse told him that Elizabeth had left before 7:00 PM.
Louis thought, maybe Elizabeth finished the surgery, left the hospital, and went home to change clothes and put on makeup or something.
So, he called Nancy.
Nancy was at home playing with the two kids. "Louis, what's up?"
Louis asked, "Nancy, is Elizabeth at home?"
Nancy found it strange. "Elizabeth left early this morning. I haven't seen her all day."
Nancy's voice became tense. "What's wrong, Louis? Is Elizabeth missing?"
Louis replied, "No. Nancy, don't worry. I haven't called her yet. I thought she was at home."
Nancy felt a bit relieved. "It's okay as long as everything is fine. If you see her, tell her that the kids and I have had dinner. Tell her not to worry about the kids."
Louis replied, "Okay. I'll hang up now."
After hanging up, Louis's unease grew.
He called Elizabeth, and the system prompt told him that her phone was off.
At this moment, Louis was certain that something had happened to Elizabeth.
He stood up, his face serious, and walked towards the entrance of the banquet hall where Sarah was pacing anxiously, constantly glancing towards the hotel entrance.
Louis stood at the entrance of the banquet hall and suddenly realized that he had no idea how to find Elizabeth. He had just returned to the country and was almost a stranger here.
He was wondering whether to use his family's connections.
While he was hesitating, he heard Sarah on the phone. "Dean, where did you go at such a critical time? Didn't Elizabeth ask you to stay at the entrance of the banquet hall?"
