Chapter 118 What Was Michael Calling So Late?
Pearl and Eloise were doing a roleplay. Pearl was playing the mom and Eloise was playing the baby.
It was time for Eloise to go to bed, so Pearl held her in her arms and gently patted her.
Eloise closed her eyes and hummed softly.
While patting her, Pearl gently said, "The moon is asleep, the stars are asleep, and baby need to sleep too. Be good."
Eloise, with her eyes closed, softly said, "Baby's asleep, I am asleep."
She reached out and gently patted Pearl, "Mommy needs to sleep too."
Elizabeth stood outside the door, unable to feel any hatred towards her anymore.
Even if Michael loved Eloise deeply, so what? Eloise herself felt nothing. She didn't even remember who Michael was.
Elizabeth sighed softly. She turned around and quietly walked down the stairs.
BY then, Nancy had already brought Nolan home.
Nolan came up to Elizabeth. "Mom. I'm sorry that I took Eloise home without permission. At school, she begged me. If I didn't take her away, she would have been hurt. I felt sorry for her, so I took her home."
Elizabeth anxiously asked Nolan, "Was there any commotion at the school? Didn't they look for her? Didn't her family go to the school to find her?"
Nolan lowered his head. "The school sent people to look for her. There are also people she knows looking for her."
Elizabeth patted Nolan on the shoulder. "Alright, you were just trying to help Eloise. But in the future, before you do something like this, you need to think about the consequences."
"Yes, Mom." Nolan lifted his head, saying, "So, Mom, can you help Eloise with the surgery? I know. You're the only one in the world who can help her."
Elizabeth patiently told Nolan, "Nolan, performing surgery in a hospital is not that simple. Before surgery, you need the patient's or the patient's family's written consent. Of course, in Eloise's case, you need the consent of her guardian before you can perform the surgery. Because no surgery can guarantee success. There can be complications, or aftereffects, or other unforeseen events. In short, it's very complicated, not as simple as you think."
Nolan lowered his head again, "Mom, I just want to help her."
Nolan's feelings were actually very complicated.
He knew about the relationship between Michael and Eloise. He also knew about the relationship between Michael and Elizabeth.
He hoped Elizabeth could cure Eloise quickly, so she could leave their home and never appeared in front of Elizabeth again.
Although, when Nolan first saw Eloise at Global Horizons International School, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity. But her presence had hurt Elizabeth.
Nolan felt extremely guilty. Elizabeth and Pearl were the most important people to him in the world. He wouldn't show any kindness to anyone who hurt them.
He hoped Eloise recovered quickly and left their home. That way, he couldn't have to face her anymore.
Elizabeth patted his shoulder, "Let's have dinner first. You must be hungry."
Michael still had no news about Eloise in the evening. He decided to post a missing person notice online.
After a long day, he got into his car and headed back to the Thomas Villa.
His phone received a message. His account had received $300 million.
Michael frowned. Where did $300 million come from?
Soon, his lawyer called, "Mr. Thomas, I am calling to inform you that the real estate purchase contract with Ms. Jones, which you authorized me to sign, has taken effect. The purchase amount of $300 million has been credited to your personal account. Please check it promptly."
Michael asked, "$300 million? Wasn't it $150 million? How did it double?"
His lawyer replied, "Ms. Jones insisted on it. She said she didn't want to take advantage of you, nor did she want your pity. She said she didn't want you to suffer a loss."
After a long day, Michael heard this news and frowned.
He hung up and rubbed his temples with his fingers.
It had been four years, and Elizabeth still hadn't changed her temper. She still liked to go against him, always trying to make him angry. He sold it to her for $150 million, couldn't she just accept it? Why did she have to give him an extra $150 million? Did she always have to prove herself in front of him?
Michael suppressed his anger and called Elizabeth.
Whispering Pines Estates.
Elizabeth, who was about to wash up, saw Michael's name on her phone and her heart skipped a beat.
Why was Michael calling so late? Did he check the surveillance and find out Eloise was at her house? Was he calling to accuse her of kidnapping a mentally challenged person?
He had been looking for Eloise all day; he must be in a terrible mood. Would he scold her harshly?
Suppressing her nervousness, Elizabeth answered the phone.
As soon as the call connects, Michael's roar came through, "Elizabeth! You made some money abroad, and now you look down on me?"
Elizabeth didn't understand. What did hiding Eloise at her house have to do with how much money she made?
Michael continued questioning, "Elizabeth! Aren't you so capable? Why aren't you talking? Feeling guilty?"
Was it still not too late to admit Eloise was at her house?
Elizabeth tried to explain, "Michael, listen to me..."
Michael interrupted her, "I sold it to you for $150 million, and you gave me $300 million? Do you have so much money you can't spend it all? If so, why not just give me a few more billion?"
Hearing his words, Elizabeth felt relieved. "Oh, you're talking about that?"
Michael snorted coldly, "What else? Do you have something else to hide from me?"
Elizabeth replied, "Nothing. I don't think I've made a lot of money. I just don't want to owe you any favors."
Hearing her say this, Michael got even angrier. He angrily hung up the phone.
Four years ago, Michael had bought the Jones Group building, thinking that one day, when Elizabeth rebuilt the Jones Group, he could give her the building as a gift.
At that time, he naively thought he and Elizabeth would be together forever.
He never imagined that the building would return to Elizabeth in this way.
On the other side, Elizabeth looked at the phone with the call cut off and got angry.
Elizabeth cursed inside, 'That damn Michael. After four years, his bad temper hasn't changed at all? He's still so volatile, hanging up the phone at the drop of a hat. He doesn't even let me finish speaking. Since that's the case, I won't tell him that Eloise is here. Let him worry.'
Elizabeth threw her phone onto the bed and angrily went to the bathroom to wash up.
