Chapter 228 Pregnancy

The folks around couldn't help but get teary-eyed.

Louis walked over and put a hand on her shoulder. "Elizabeth, Mrs. Jones needs to go to the hospital now. We can't waste any more time. Let's step aside and let the doctors take her to the hospital."

Elizabeth suddenly snapped out of it and stood up quickly, wiping her tears. "Yes, to the hospital. How could I waste time?"

She moved aside.

The traffic cop nearby signaled the emergency crew.

Two people in white coats pushed the stretcher into the ambulance.

Elizabeth watched the ambulance speed away.

She grabbed Louis. "Louis, was that ambulance legit? Why didn't it have the siren on? Will it delay my mom's treatment?"

Louis gently hugged her and patted her back. "It's dark now, and there are no cars or pedestrians on the mountain road, so the ambulance didn't need the siren. They'll turn it on once they hit the city."

Elizabeth nodded.

Louis helped her into the car. "Elizabeth, we'll follow the ambulance. I know this is tough, but you need to stay calm. Mrs. Jones still needs you."

Elizabeth numbly nodded.

In the Range Rover, Nolan and Pearl were crying softly.

Pearl asked, "Nolan, will Grandma die?"

Nolan replied, "Pearl, don't say that. Grandma will live a long life."

Dean in the driver's seat and Daniel in the passenger seat exchanged a glance.

Both were very surprised.

Daniel asked, "Pearl, what happened to your grandma?"

Pearl sobbed. "Someone called Mom and said Grandma had a car accident and was badly hurt. Mom and Mr. Cox went to get Grandma."

After saying that, she continued to cry.

Dean's heart twisted.

Nancy had a car accident; Elizabeth must be feeling so heartbroken and helpless. But the only thing he could do now was to help her look after the kids.

Daniel texted Michael: [Mr. Thomas, I'm not sure if I should tell you this. Elizabeth's mom had a car accident, and it's said to be very serious. Maybe you should know. After all, she needs help now.]

At the Thomas family villa, Michael was having dinner with Calla and Eloise.

He glanced at the message and immediately stood up.

He grabbed a coat, changed his shoes, and quickly walked out.

Calla and Eloise exchanged a look.

Was there an emergency?

The food in Calla's mouth suddenly lost its taste, and she put down her knife and fork.

Everything at Stellar Enterprises was running smoothly.

Mary's blood pressure had been stable recently.

Eloise was fine here.

Except for Elizabeth, what could make Michael so anxious?

Calla smiled bitterly.

Even though Michael and Elizabeth were divorced, Elizabeth's every move still tugged at Michael's heart.

Just like this morning at the amusement park. It was Eloise who wanted to go.

They had just arrived not long ago when Michael gave the park to Elizabeth and her kids, showing that Elizabeth's place in his heart was more important than Eloise.

Michael walked into the yard. He called Daniel, "Find out which hospital Elizabeth's mom is in."

Daniel replied, "Mr. Thomas, I asked already. Elizabeth's mom didn't make it... She's at Harmony Health Hospital now."

Michael got in the car and said, "To Harmony Health Hospital."

Meanwhile, Louis and Elizabeth arrived at the hospital entrance.

While Louis went to park the car, Elizabeth rushed into the emergency room, running into every cubicle, but was unable to find Nancy.

Louis parked the car and rushed over.

He held Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, calm down. I'll help you find Mrs. Jones."

Louis led Elizabeth to the door of the special operating room.

She walked in and saw Nancy lying quietly on the operating table.

She gently wiped Nancy's face and hands with a fine gauze.

While wiping, she said, "Mom, you always said you'd take care of everything, so I didn't have to do any work. Look, now you're not moving, and I have to help you wipe your hands."

She picked up Nancy's already stiff right hand and gently pressed it to her cheek. "Mom, I still don't know how to cook. What will I do when I'm hungry? You promised to be with me for a long, long time. Mom, why didn't you keep your word?"

Louis stood beside Elizabeth, staying with her.

Michael hurried to the hospital and saw Louis getting on the elevator.

The elevator went straight to the 31st floor, so Michael took the adjacent elevator to the 31st floor.

He couldn't get into the special operating room.

Michael stood outside the small glass window of the operating room, looking inside.

He saw Elizabeth in near-collapse pain.

He had just decided a few days ago not to bother her anymore. But today, he couldn't help it.

Seeing her in such pain and despair, he wanted so much to hold her, comfort her, and help her solve all her problems.

But he wasn't a god; he couldn't bring Nancy back to life.

He couldn't take away her pain.

Michael glanced at Louis, who had been by Elizabeth's side.

Louis had been with her all day. It seemed she trusted and relied on Louis a lot.

And Michael didn't even have the right to stand by her side and comfort her.

His fist slowly clenched.

Suddenly, the phone rang. It was Calla calling.

What did she want now?

Could it be something that happened to Eloise?

Michael answered.

But it was Mary's voice on the other end. "Michael, where did you go? It's so late; why aren't you home?"

Michael still stared at Elizabeth. "I have something to do outside."

Mary said, "What could be more important than you becoming a father?"

Hearing this, Michael froze. "What do you mean?"

Mary's strong voice came through, "Michael, I have good news! Calla is pregnant! You're going to be a father!"

Michael felt a buzzing in his head.

He put his hand on the wall to support his now weak body.

How could it be?

Calla was pregnant? And it was his child?

That night at the club, he wasn't even sure if anything had really happened between him and Calla.

But she was pregnant with his child.

In that case, he couldn't get entangled with Elizabeth anymore.

If Elizabeth knew about this, she probably wouldn't want to see him again.

Michael put his hand on the glass. It was as if by doing so, he could touch Elizabeth.

Mary was still urging him. "Michael, come back quickly! Calla needs you! She just fainted at home. Fortunately, the family doctor was there."

Michael replied in a low voice, "Got it. I'm coming back now."

He hung up the phone, took one last look at Elizabeth, and closed his eyes in pain.

He had never seen Elizabeth so heartbroken and in pain.

She looked like she was about to break.

Michael turned around and resolutely left the hospital.

In the operating room, Elizabeth had finished cleaning Nancy.

Louis helped Elizabeth up and said softly, "Elizabeth, let's go out first, okay?"

He helped Elizabeth out of the operating room.

The two nurses standing at the door received a signal from Louis. After Elizabeth left, they entered the operating room and pushed Nancy to the morgue.
