Chapter 480 Pervert
Sherry stood with her back to the bedroom door, completely naked.
She was just about to put on her clothes when she heard a gasp behind her, followed by the sound of dishes crashing to the floor.
Terrified, she turned around and saw Matthew standing there, equally shocked.
She screamed, "Matthew! You pervert! What the hell are you doing here?"
As she spoke, she quickly grabbed a towel to cover herself.
But Matthew had already seen everything.
At that moment, Matthew was also extremely embarrassed. He hadn't expected Sherry to be undressed and for him to walk in on her like that.
He turned around quickly, stammering, "I-I just thought you might be hungry, so I brought you some soup. It's really good."
Sherry's heart was pounding. Taking advantage of Matthew not looking, she hurriedly put on her clothes. "Why didn't you knock before coming into someone else's room?"
Matthew felt wronged. "I did knock, but you didn't answer."
Sherry was furious. "If I didn't answer, it means I'm not decent! Why did you come in?"
Matthew, realizing his mistake, apologized, "I'm sorry. I'll remember next time."
He quickly opened the door and ran out.
Sherry sighed as she looked at the spilled soup on the floor. The freshly cleaned floor would need to be cleaned again.
The next day, Michael and Elizabeth arrived in Aetheria.
As soon as they got to their hotel room, Elizabeth received a message from an unknown number.
[Elizabeth, did you come to Aetheria to confront me?]
Elizabeth didn't need to think twice. She was sure it was Louis.
She glanced at Michael, who was unpacking, and took her phone into the bathroom.
Sitting on the toilet, she replied to the number: [Louie?]
The response was immediate: [Yeah, it's Louis.]
Elizabeth let out a long breath. [Did you put a tracker on us?]
Louis replied: [I just happened to find out you were coming to Aetheria. I'm not that omnipotent.]
Elizabeth had countless questions. [Louie, why are you here?]
Louis: [A medical retirement center here offered me a job with a high salary. I needed the money, so I came.]
Elizabeth thought for a moment. The reason seemed plausible.
She asked the question she most wanted to know: [What about Eloise? Where is she? How is she?]
This was also what Michael most wanted to know.
She wanted to know the answer first. If Eloise had really passed away, Michael would be devastated.
Elizabeth hoped she could gently break the news to Michael, in case he couldn't handle the truth.
Soon, Louis' message came, making Elizabeth's heart skip a beat.
Louis: [As you guessed, Eloise is still alive.]
Elizabeth's hands trembled with excitement as she quickly replied: [How is Eloise? Where are you staying? I want to see her. Michael definitely wants to see her too.]
Louis: [After I finish my work here, I plan to take Eloise to Valoria. The medical facilities here aren't as good as in Valoria.]
Elizabeth's heart sank again. Why did Louis mention medical facilities? What was wrong with Eloise? Had she fallen ill again?
Her body must have been severely damaged after losing so much blood.
Elizabeth: [Louie, stop beating around the bush. Just tell me, what's wrong with Eloise?]
There was no reply for a long time.
Michael called from outside the bathroom, "Elizabeth, you okay in there?"
Elizabeth quickly answered, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a sec."
She stood up and flushed the toilet.
She turned on the faucet, pretending to wash her hands.
Her phone remained silent. She couldn't stay in the bathroom any longer, or Michael would get suspicious.
Distracted, she continued unpacking.
Michael held her hand. "Elizabeth, what's up? You seem off since you came out of the bathroom. Something happen?"
Elizabeth was startled and quickly shook her head. "No, I'm good. Michael, let's finish unpacking and then take a nap."
Michael gently took her hand. "I'm sorry. We should rest after such a long trip."
Elizabeth felt guilty. "Michael, don't apologize. You haven't done anything wrong. Let's take a nap to adjust to the time difference, then find a restaurant for dinner. I found a great place nearby."
Michael smiled. "Sounds good. I'll follow your lead."
After a quick wash, they put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, closed the curtains, and fell asleep in each other's arms.
Elizabeth thought she wouldn't be able to sleep with so much on her mind, but she quickly drifted off in Michael's arms.
Knowing Eloise was alive had lifted a weight off her shoulders.
Just before falling asleep, she wondered when Louis would reply.
Michael listened to her steady breathing and smiled, tightening his embrace before falling asleep himself.
They slept deeply and woke up feeling refreshed.
The hotel driver took them to the restaurant.
While waiting for their food, Elizabeth observed the people around them.
Since Louis knew they were in Aetheria, he probably knew which hotel they were staying at.
He might also guess that, as tourists, they would choose this restaurant.
Elizabeth wondered if Louis was nearby.
Michael looked at her and asked cautiously, "Elizabeth, you still tired?"
Elizabeth gently held his hand and smiled. "Michael, you don't have to tiptoe around me. Just be yourself. Otherwise, I feel like I'm bullying you."
Michael shook his head. "No. I was too rough with you before. I owe you too much. Even if I give you my whole heart and all my possessions, it wouldn't be enough."
Elizabeth moved to sit beside him, hugging his arm and leaning on him. "Michael, the past is behind us. We need to focus on our future. We will be very happy."
Michael nodded firmly. "Yes, we will be very happy."
The waiter brought their food. "Enjoy your meal."
Elizabeth's eyes lit up at the sight of the food. "Wow, this looks delicious."
Michael looked at her lovingly. "You must be starving. It does smell good. Let's eat."
Elizabeth picked up her fork and eagerly dug into her plate.
Just then, her phone beeped.
She glanced at the screen and saw a message from the familiar Aetheria number.
