Chapter 181 How Did You End Up in My Bed
Elizabeth was out cold, sleeping like a log. It made Louis reluctant to disturb her.
She wasn't under the blanket; she was hugging it like a teddy bear.
Louis noticed her clothes were still on and her long stockings were perfectly in place.
He felt a bit better. He quietly closed the door and headed downstairs.
"I'll wait for her in the car tonight. Mr. Thomas, let me know the second she wakes up," Louis said, giving Michael a stern look. "I trust you're a gentleman, so don't do anything you shouldn't."
Michael just crossed his arms and didn't say a word.
Louis opened the door and stepped out.
Tonight, he was going to keep watch outside the Thomas Villa.
As he left, Michael turned to Susan and said, "Don't worry about him, Susan. You go get some rest."
With that, Michael went to the guest room on the first floor.
Early in the morning, just as the sky was starting to lighten up, Louis was still in his car, staring at the second-floor window of the villa.
It was still dark, no lights on.
That meant Elizabeth was still asleep.
He silently kicked himself.
When he gave Elizabeth that medical record, he didn't think about how hard she'd push herself.
If he'd known, he would've told her to take it easy and not rush.
But knowing Elizabeth, she wouldn't let a patient stay in a coma if she knew there was a way to help. She'd work herself to the bone to find a solution.
Luckily, she fainted and got rescued just in time.
Otherwise, Louis would never forgive himself.
Over at Whispering Pines Estates, Nolan was up early.
Last night, he overheard Nancy on the phone.
He knew something was up with Elizabeth because she hadn't come home.
He also knew she was still at Michael's place.
He woke Pearl up.
Pearl rubbed her eyes and sat up. "Nolan, why are you up so early?"
Nolan looked serious. "Pearl, Mom didn't come home last night."
Pearl was wide awake now. "Where did Mom go? Was she out having fun? It was her birthday yesterday. I wanted to wish her a happy birthday when she got home. I even made her a birthday gift at kindergarten. I folded a bouquet of roses with colored paper."
Nolan cut her off, "Pearl, listen. I'm going to Michael's house to find Mom. Grandma will be up soon. When she comes to the room, tell her you want to go to kindergarten early today and that you want me to take you."
Pearl nodded. "Nolan, why is Mom at that bad man Michael's house?"
Nolan said, "I think Michael took her there."
Pearl frowned. "Michael is so bad! I'll never call him Dad!"
Nancy had made breakfast and came to wake the kids up.
When she opened the door, she was surprised to see they were already dressed and ready.
Nancy exclaimed happily, "You two are quick today!"
Pearl looked up, trying to act normal. "Grandma, I want Nolan to take me to kindergarten today. He hasn't seen my kindergarten yet. I want him to stay with me all day."
Nancy thought for a moment. The kindergarten was within the community, with security guards everywhere. Plus, she would be following the kids, so nothing should go wrong.
She smiled and said, "Okay, Pearl. Let's see what Nolan thinks first."
Nolan nodded. "Grandma, I think it's a good idea. I'll take her."
Nancy agreed with a smile, and they went to have breakfast together. She took Pearl's hand and walked downstairs.
Meanwhile, Nolan sneaked into Elizabeth's room, picked up her laptop, and stuffed it into his backpack. As he passed by Dean's room, he noticed the bed was neatly made, indicating that Dean hadn't come home last night.
After quickly finishing breakfast, they headed to the kindergarten. Nancy followed them from a distance, watching as they entered the kindergarten.
Only then did she return home and call Louis to check on Elizabeth's condition.
At the Whispering Pines Estates Kindergarten, Nolan hid by the door, watching from a distance as Nancy returned to the villa.
He tapped his smartwatch to call Dean.
Dean, who was still sleeping in a big bed at the Celestial Garden Hotel, was woken up by the phone ringing.
He moved the leg draped over him aside, followed the sound, and found his phone on the carpet. "Hello, who is it?"
Nolan said, "Dean, whose bed are you in this time? Do you know Mom didn't come home last night? Neither of you did!"
Dean snapped awake.
He sat up. "What did you say? Elizabeth didn't come home? Didn't Louis go to find her? He didn't find her? Where is she?"
Nolan sighed helplessly. "Did you drink too much again?"
Dean rubbed his temples. "Yeah, I think I did."
Nolan said, "I heard Grandma talking to Louis. She said Mom is at Michael's house."
Dean was shocked. "What? Michael's house? Why would she be there?"
"Michael must have taken her while she was unconscious," Nolan said.
Dean was alarmed. "What? How could Elizabeth be unconscious?"
The blanket beside Dean moved.
Nolan asked, "Dean, I'm going to Michael's house to find Mom. Are you coming?"
Dean got out of bed and started dressing. "I have to go! Wait for me! Where are you now? I'll come to you right away!"
Nolan replied, "I'm at the Whispering Pines Estates kindergarten."
"Okay. Wait for me." Dean hung up and tossed his phone onto the bed.
From under the blanket, a voice groaned.
Daniel emerged from under the blanket.
He held his head and frowned. "Dean! Did you hit me?"
Dean was startled. "Daniel! Why are you in my bed?"
