Chapter 520 His Child

Matthew shot Alfie a disdainful glance.

Trying to please, Alfie said, "Mr. Anderson, once you see what I have to show you, you'll understand."

Owen sneaked a look at Matthew's reaction, only to catch a fierce glare from him. Terrified, Owen quickly ducked his head.

Alfie continued to persuade, "Mr. Anderson, please come with me. I promise it will be worth your time."

Matthew stood up leisurely. "I want to see what you have to say. If I find out you're covering for someone, I guarantee this bar won't stay open."

Alfie nodded obsequiously. "Thank you, Mr. Anderson."

He led Matthew to his office. As soon as they entered, Alfie signaled to his bodyguard, who stood motionless by the door.

Alfie closed the office door.

Matthew casually sat on the sofa, crossing his legs. "Alfie, what kind of game are you playing? Where's the thing you want me to see? Hurry up and show it."

Alfie placed a laptop on the table in front of Matthew and opened a video.

Matthew immediately recognized it as footage from the bar's security cameras.

He frowned. "Is this about what happened to Sherry that night?"

Alfie nodded repeatedly.

Matthew focused on the video. He saw Sherry, unsteady on her feet, running to a room and knocking frantically. The door opened from the inside, and she quickly rushed in.

Matthew's frown deepened.

Sherry stayed in the room for a long time without coming out.

In her condition, it was clear the drug had taken effect. Someone was already in that room, and she knew it. In fact, she knew the person inside.

So much time had passed, and she still hadn't come out. It was easy to imagine what had happened inside.

Matthew looked coldly at Alfie. "Who else was in that room?"

Alfie cleared his throat but said nothing.

Matthew raised his voice. "Who was it?"

Alfie gave a bitter smile. "Mr. Anderson, just keep watching. You'll see who comes out of that room."

Matthew had no choice but to fast-forward the video.

In the early hours, Sherry emerged, wearing a man's jacket.

The jacket looked familiar to him.

He fast-forwarded even more, finally seeing the man who slowly walked out of the room.

Matthew's mind went blank.

He stared at Alfie in disbelief.

Alfie stepped forward and took the laptop away.

He didn't dare look at Matthew, cautiously asking, "Mr. Anderson, you saw everything, right? You should know who got Ms. Reed pregnant."

Matthew stood up, dazed, and walked out of Alfie's office, then out of the bar.

He stood on the street, staring at the bright sun overhead, unable to believe that Sherry's baby was his.

Matthew remembered what Elijah had told him: Sherry never said the baby was his.

She never used the baby to threaten him or force him to marry her.

Instead, he had always treated her poorly.

He realized he owed her an apology and needed to ask for her forgiveness.

With that thought, Matthew drove straight to Whispering Pines Estates.

Sherry had no family in Aurora Bay and no money for a hotel. Even if she had money, she wouldn't spend it on a hotel. She would definitely go to Elizabeth.

Matthew called Sherry while driving, but she didn't answer.

So he called Elizabeth.

"Elizabeth, where are you?"

"Mr. Anderson? Why are you asking me this?"

"Sherry ran away from my house. I think she went to you."

"If she ran away, you should be happy. Why do you care where she is?"

"Elizabeth, I'm worried about her! I'm afraid she'll run into trouble!"

"Aren't you the biggest trouble?"

"I get it, she's at your place."

Matthew hung up and drove to Whispering Pines Estates.

At the gate, the security guard stopped his car.

Matthew had no choice but to call Elizabeth again.

"Elizabeth, Ms. Jones, I'm at your gate, and the guard won't let me in."

"Letting you in would be a mistake! Outsiders can't just come and go."

"Elizabeth, I'm begging you. I need to see Sherry today. I have something important to tell her."

"What's so important? Is it about the baby?"

Matthew paused. "How do you know?"

Elizabeth chuckled. "What else could it be? Marriage?"

"Not quite."

"I need to ask Sherry. I can't decide for her. She has the right to choose whether to see you."

Matthew took a deep breath. "Okay, I'll wait."

Elizabeth called Sherry.

"Sherry, Matthew is here to see you. He's at the gate, but the guard stopped him."

In a room on the second floor of Whispering Pines Estates, Sherry bit her lip and whispered, "Elizabeth, I don't want to see him. Can you send him away?"

Elizabeth immediately replied, "Of course, I respect your decision."

"Elizabeth, I'm so confused. I haven't made up my mind. This happened so suddenly, and I'm not ready to be a single mom. Besides, I don't even like Matthew."

Elizabeth patiently said, "Maybe you should meet him. You two can sit down and talk openly. If he's here, he might already know who the baby's father is."

Sherry's hand trembled. "How could he know?"

"Sherry, if Matthew wants to find out, he will. I need to ask, is the baby his?"

Sherry's voice was low. "Yes, but he was drunk that night. He wasn't aware."

"So, Matthew's actions were because he didn't know the baby was his, right?"

Sherry lowered her head. "Maybe, but we have no feelings for each other. Even if we forced it, we wouldn't be happy."

"Sherry, I respect your decision. He's at the gate. If you want to see him, have Susan call the guard to let him in. If not, let him wait. You don't need to feel guilty."

Sherry made up her mind. "Okay, I'll see him. I want to hear what he has to say."
