Chapter 591 Coercion

Elizabeth looked at Michael. "Three people?"

Michael nodded. "Kirk and the others?"

Elizabeth turned to the bodyguard. "I'll go check."

Soon, she returned with Kirk, Juan, and Alfonso.

"Michael, you were right. It's Kirk, Juan, and Alfonso here to see you."

The small hospital room felt even more cramped with the three of them inside.

Michael seemed a bit annoyed. "What's so fascinating about seeing me like this?"

Kirk chuckled. "It's just that it's rare to see you like this, so we had to come."

Juan plopped down on the bed. "Have you decided? When are you leaving?"

Michael glanced at Elizabeth. "Ask Elizabeth. Whenever she says, that's when."

Alfonso asked, "Did the doctor say when you can be discharged?"

Elizabeth answered, "In his condition, it'll be at least two weeks before he can leave. Even then, he'll need crutches or a wheelchair."

Juan stood up. "So, another two weeks before we can leave?"

Elizabeth replied, "It doesn't have to be that long. We can continue his treatment once we get back to Aurora Bay."

Juan thought for a moment and nodded. "Alright, that's settled then. Leave as soon as possible and take my plane. Don't delay, or more trouble might arise."

Elizabeth and Michael exchanged a glance, neither of them objecting.

The next morning, Cordelia brought breakfast to the hospital.

The nurse informed her that Michael had been discharged the previous day.

Cordelia couldn't believe it and questioned the nurse. "He just woke up! His condition is still unstable. Why did you let him leave? What if something happens to him on the way? How will you be responsible?"

The nurse, trembling, replied, "Ms. Murphy, Mr. Thomas signed a waiver, acknowledging the risks of leaving against medical advice. This isn't a prison; we can't restrict his freedom."

Cordelia's eyes widened in anger as she shakily dialed Michael's number.

Her voice was filled with anguish. "Michael! Where did you go? You can't leave me! I'm carrying your child!"

"Cordelia, thank you for taking care of me. But I've also helped secure the Murphy Group's assets. We're even now."

Cordelia sobbed. "No! We're not even! My child can't grow up without a father! Michael, you can't leave!"

"Cordelia, my children are waiting for me in Aurora Bay. They need me too. Or, you could follow my advice and terminate the pregnancy, then you can be with Zander without any distractions."

Cordelia, supported by a servant, felt her body weaken and slide down.

"No, I don't want Zander. I only want you, Michael."

The call ended.

Cordelia cried uncontrollably.

The servant, feeling sorry for her, tried to comfort her. "Ms. Murphy, if Michael is so heartless, maybe you should consider terminating the pregnancy. Only Zander can help you now. But if you're carrying someone else's child, will Zander..."

Cordelia's expression hardened, and she replied coldly, "Now, all the Murphy family assets are in my hands. I'm the new head of the Murphy family. I have nothing to fear. If Zander wants to leave, he can leave. If he wants to stay and help, he can stay. I don't need to terminate my pregnancy to please him."

The servant quickly nodded, not daring to say another word.

Cordelia sat on the couch, gently touching her belly, her eyes fixed on a distant point. "I'm keeping this child. This is Elizabeth and Michael's child. One day, I'll tell them the truth. I want them to regret it."

The servant cautiously asked, "Ms. Murphy, are you planning to use this child to threaten Michael and Elizabeth?"

Cordelia tilted her head slightly, her gaze icy. "Exactly. If anything happens to me, this child will be my shield."

Aurora Bay.

David sat in his office, repeatedly opening his chat with Sarah.

He didn't know what to say to her.

She had blocked his number, so he couldn't call her.

Since their last encounter in the parking lot, they had been giving each other the cold shoulder.

David wanted to explain the surrogacy incident to Sarah, but he didn't know where to start.

After all, it was Jolin's idea, not his. He had always been against it.

But he didn't know how much Sarah had overheard that morning. If he asked her directly, who knew what she would think.

David leaned back in his chair, frustrated.

After a moment, he decided he needed to talk to Sarah face-to-face. He grabbed his car keys and drove to the Martinez Group.

The receptionist recognized him and smiled. "Mr. Franklin."

David walked over. "I'm here to see Sarah."

The receptionist maintained her professional smile. "Mr. Franklin, Ms. Martinez hasn't been to the office for two days."

David was surprised but didn't doubt her. He immediately called Wren.

"Mom, is Sarah home?"

"David, Sarah is here," Wren said, putting the call on speaker.

David felt relieved.

"Mom, I know. I'm coming over now."

Wren glanced at Sarah, who was lying on the couch watching TV.

"Mom, don't let him come. I don't want to see him. He doesn't want to see me either. Tell him not to bother."

David heard her voice and shouted, "Sarah, I don't not want to see you! You blocked my number. I couldn't call you. I went home, but you weren't there. I went to your office, and the receptionist said you weren't there. So I called Mom."

Wren's gentle voice came through. "David, Sarah's been a bit emotional lately. The doctor said she needs to rest. Maybe you should come another day?"

David tensed at the word "doctor." "Mom, what's wrong with Sarah? Is she sick? Is it serious? What did the doctor say?"

He gripped the steering wheel and sped up. "No, I have to see Sarah today. I won't be at ease otherwise."

Wren replied, "David, don't worry too much. Sarah isn't sick. She's pregnant. You know how hard it was for her to conceive. She's been through a lot."

"The doctor said the first three months are critical, and she needs to rest and avoid stress. So, she's staying with us. Her father and I are taking care of her. She's not going to the office for now."
