Chapter 190 Differentiated Feelings

Now, Michael and Elizabeth were already divorced.

Michael had a girlfriend, at least in name.

Logically, they shouldn't have any more interactions.

But feelings were tricky like that. They always seemed to defy logic.

Elizabeth had promised Calla she wouldn't contact Michael anymore, and she was determined to stay out of his life.

She tried her best to control herself, to not think about him.

But there were always countless ties between them.

They both lived in Aurora Bay, so they kept running into each other.

Elizabeth shook her head, as if trying to shake off all these troubling thoughts. She then glanced at the time. "Dean, I gotta go. Nolan's at Global Horizons International School today. He should be getting out soon. I'll drive over to pick him up. If you need anything, just call me."

Dean nodded.

After that, Elizabeth drove to Global Horizons International School and waited for Nolan outside his classroom.

Nolan packed his school bag, walked out, and took Elizabeth's hand.

Eloise was also in the hallway.

She saw Nolan and greeted him cheerfully. "Nolan, heading home?"

Nolan didn't really want to talk to her, but he remembered she helped him get into Michael's villa last time.

So, he pulled down the brim of his hat and mumbled, "Yeah."

Eloise beamed when Nolan finally spoke to her. "I'm going home too. Michael's picking me up."

Michael, who was standing behind them, seemed used to Eloise's enthusiasm towards Elizabeth and Nolan.

He took a few long strides and walked over. "Elizabeth."

Elizabeth wanted to pretend she didn't hear him.

Michael grabbed her shoulder bag strap.

Elizabeth rolled her eyes and snapped, "Mr. Thomas, this is a public place. Please keep your distance."

Michael was taken aback for a moment, her words sounding familiar.

He blurted out, "So, if it's not in public, we don't have to keep our distance?"

Elizabeth was also stunned by his response.

Memories flooded back, enveloping them both.

Michael stared intently at Elizabeth.

There was a subtle emotion flowing between them.

Nolan tugged at Elizabeth's hand. "Mom."

Elizabeth snapped back to reality.

She brushed off Michael's hand from her shoulder bag and turned to leave.

Michael stepped in front of them, blocking their way. "Elizabeth, let's have dinner together."

Eloise heard Michael and happily ran over, grabbing Nolan's hand. "Nolan, Elizabeth, let's have dinner together."

Elizabeth suddenly felt a headache coming on.

She looked at Michael. "Michael, sometimes I really want to cut open your brain to see what's inside." Pointing at herself and then at Eloise, she continued, "You want me to have dinner with you? You and Eloise, together with me? What are you thinking?"

Upon hearing this, Eloise couldn't help but hold her head and look at Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, what's inside my brain?"

She thought Elizabeth had performed surgery on her, cutting open her head, so Elizabeth knew what was inside her brain.

Elizabeth realized she had said the wrong thing. She shouldn't have said that in front of Eloise.

Michael, however, didn't think much of it. He frowned. "Elizabeth, it's just a meal. Why are you so against it?"

Elizabeth pushed him away. "Don't block the way!"

Michael grabbed her arm. "We're having dinner together! I said it!"

Elizabeth yanked her arm free, fuming. "Michael! What the hell is wrong with you? Is this how you invite someone to dinner?"

It was school dismissal time, and the hallway was getting crowded.

People started to stare.

Michael grabbed Elizabeth and Nolan, pulling them into a classroom.

Then, he pulled Eloise over and shut the door.

Elizabeth was stunned by his actions.

Inwardly, she cursed Michael as nothing short of a madman.

Michael stood with his hands on his hips, looking down at them.

He turned to Eloise. "Eloise, you and Nolan go sit over there."

Then, he looked at Elizabeth. "I just want to have a meal with you. Is it that hard? Are you afraid someone will misunderstand? Don't worry, no one around here knows us."

Elizabeth ignored him, thinking, 'He has no idea what the real issue is. Having dinner with Eloise? Him, his ex-girlfriend, and his former ex-girlfriend all together? What kind of dinner arrangement is this?'

Michael asked again, "Elizabeth, you don't want to go because you can't forget me, right? You don't dare to face me? Are you afraid that once you see me, you'll rekindle old feelings? Is that it? Did I guess right? That's why you don't dare to go!"

He sneered.

Elizabeth jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. "Michael! Dream on! Rekindle old feelings for you? Don't dare to go? It's just a meal! What's there to be afraid of? Let's go!"

She pulled open the classroom door and was startled. Was Michael using reverse psychology?

She turned to look into the classroom.

Eloise and Nolan were leaning their heads together, both tilting their heads, looking at them.

Elizabeth awkwardly called, "Nolan, let's go. It's time for dinner."

Michael smiled. "Eloise."

Eloise smiled and ran over to him.

Just now, this person was talking to her in a commanding tone, but when he turned to talk to Eloise, he was so gentle!

The difference was so obvious!

And he said Elizabeth would rekindle old feelings for him?

Facing Eloise, how could she, the ex-girlfriend, rekindle any feelings?

More likely, anger would be rekindled!

Elizabeth grabbed Nolan's hand and walked out of the teaching building angrily.

Nolan held his school bag strap with his left hand and Elizabeth's hand with his right hand tightly.

He struggled to keep up with her pace with his short legs, running alongside her.

He leaned close to Elizabeth and said in a low voice, "Mom, I know you're not happy. But, can you... walk slower? I can barely keep up."
