Chapter 156 You Seduced Me First

Matthew glanced at Michael, who was still keeping quiet, and reluctantly started talking, "Ms. Jones, a while back, the surveillance system at Global Horizons International School got hacked, and that's when Eloise went missing. Later, our company, STellar Enterprises, got hit too. The network went down, and computers crashed. Michael's computer got hit the worst. Our tech team couldn't fix it and said it was a hacker. We looked into it and found your tech director, Dean, as the main suspect..."

As he continued speaking, he became less confident, and his voice grew quieter. "Ms. Jones, we had no other choice but to do this."

Elizabeth sneered, "You really don't mind throwing Daniel under the bus, do you?"

Michael and Matthew both looked down, a bit embarrassed.

Elizabeth turned to Dean, "Did you do what he said?"

Dean waved his hands frantically, "No, Elizabeth, you gotta believe me! Sure, I'm good at this stuff, but I have no reason to do it! I'm not that bored!"

He turned his back to Michael and mouthed to Elizabeth, "Nolan."

Elizabeth was stunned.

She knew Nolan had been learning a lot about computers and hacking from Dean.

But little did she know that Nolan had already reached such a high level and she never thought Nolan would be bold enough to go after Michael.

Despite the chaos in her mind, she stayed calm and told Michael, "It's not Dean. You've got the wrong guy."

Michael stood up, glanced at Dean, and said to her, "You really trust him, huh?"

Dean put his arm around Elizabeth's shoulder with a smirk.

He taunted Michael, "Of course, you should see the kind of relationship Elizabeth and I have."

Michael glanced at his hand draped over Elizabeth's shoulder, clearly infuriated.

He turned to Matthew and said, "Let's go. We'll find that hacker. I'll personally throw him in jail and make him regret messing with me!"

Elizabeth shook off Dean's arm and stepped forward. "Michael!"

Michael stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her, his gaze condescending.

Elizabeth carefully chose her words, "It's almost noon, are you hungry? Why don't you stay for lunch?"

Matthew was about to decline, "Thanks, but we..."

Michael had already grabbed his wrist. "Matthew, didn't you say you were hungry on the way here?"

Matthew stared at him in disbelief.

Could Michael be any more obvious? It wasn't even lunchtime yet!

Why did Michael lose all his cool when it came to Elizabeth?

He thought, 'I hope you never escape Elizabeth's grip in this lifetime.'

Matthew had to change his tune, "Yeah, we're hungry."

Elizabeth quickly called the restaurant's internal line, asking them to prepare a luxury private room and the best dishes to entertain them.

She led Michael and Matthew down the private elevator.

Dean asked, "Where's Daniel? Didn't he come? Is he scared to face me?"

Matthew replied, "Daniel's got a lot of work and couldn't make it."

Dean told Elizabeth he was going to find Daniel.

Matthew reminded him, "You can't bully him!"

Elizabeth also said, "Don't be impulsive."

Then Dean left.

Elizabeth and the others went to the company's employee cafeteria.

The restaurant manager respectfully led them to the luxury private room.

Elizabeth handed the menu to Michael.

She turned to the restaurant manager and said, "Bring out a few of the signature dishes first."

Michael chimed in, "No need to bring too many dishes."

Matthew was speechless.

Michael had been so aggressive on the way here, but as soon as he saw Elizabeth, all his aggression vanished. He even wanted to save her a bit of money.

Elizabeth asked casually, "Was the hacker attack on your system very serious?"

Michael and Matthew exchanged a glance.

Elizabeth's attitude had been so tough at first, but suddenly it changed. There must be something going on.

This hacker, even if it wasn't Dean, must be someone she knew and cared about.

Otherwise, she wouldn't be so eager to please them.

Matthew said seriously, "The network was down for nearly an hour, and the losses are incalculable. What we do know is that we lost a nearly $100 million contract because we couldn't provide the contract on time. Also, Michael's computer was the most severely damaged, with all his important files destroyed by the hacker."

He glanced at Michael and continued, "We are still assessing the losses, and we will pursue criminal charges against the hacker and seek compensation for our economic losses."

Elizabeth's hand trembled slightly as she set the table.

Michael glanced at her, then gave Matthew a reproachful look. "It's not that serious, don't listen to him. We can recover the economic losses. I have backups of all my files. The loss isn't that big. You don't need to worry about me."

Elizabeth let out a long sigh of relief.

Matthew was utterly speechless.

Michael couldn't bear to see Elizabeth worry even a little bit.

Dean arrived at the lobby of STellar Enterprises.

He approached the receptionist, proactively stating his identity and the person he was looking for.

Dean said, "I'm here to see Daniel. I'm Dean, the technical director of the Jones Group."

The receptionist respectfully replied, "Please wait a moment. I'll make a call."

The receptionist finished the call and then told Dean, "Sorry, he is very busy and can't see you."

Dean was angry. "Tell him that Michael and Matthew sent me. Let's see if he still dares to hide."

The receptionist, hearing Michael's name, reluctantly made another call.

After hanging up, the receptionist said, "Mr. Taylor will see you now."

The receptionist led Dean to Daniel's office door, opened the door for Dean and then left.

Dean stared at Daniel without blinking, not saying a word.

Daniel avoided his oppressive gaze.

Dean, filled with anger, slowly walked around Daniel's desk and stood by his office chair.

He pressed down on Daniel's chair, spinning it around to face him.

Dean's long arms rested on the desk, trapping Daniel and his chair in the middle. "Mr. Taylor, you really are a busy man!"

Daniel felt an unprecedented sense of pressure. He shrank back in his chair, his voice trembling slightly, "If you have something to say, just say it. No need for sarcasm."

Dean smiled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes. "Mr. Taylor, you were the one who seduced me first, persuaded me to drink, and took advantage of my drunkenness to extract secrets from me. Then you told Michael I bullied you. That's a bit much! I trusted you completely and spoke to you openly. Who would have thought you were a spy!"
