Chapter 208 Sending Her to the Hospital Again
Dean pulled up, hopped out of the car, and slammed the door behind him.
He'd gotten back to the villa super late last night, assuming Elizabeth was already asleep. So, he tiptoed around, cleaned up, and crashed without making a peep.
It wasn't until breakfast that he realized Elizabeth wasn't home.
He asked Nancy, and she said Elizabeth hadn't come back all night.
Nancy asked, "Wasn't Elizabeth with you?"
Not wanting to freak her out, Dean said, "Yeah, we were together at first. Then Sarah showed up, said she hadn't seen Elizabeth in ages, and took her to her place to crash. Elizabeth asked me to let you know. Sorry, I totally spaced."
Nancy just shrugged. "No worries. Go ahead and eat."
After breakfast, he rushed to the office, thinking Elizabeth would be there, but the young girl in the secretary's office said Elizabeth hadn't shown up.
Dean started to freak out.
He called Sarah. Sarah told him she and Elizabeth went to the Sky Entertainment Club, hired four gigolos, and later sent three away. One stayed to chat and drink with Elizabeth.
Dean, panicking, asked, "And then?"
He was super worried Elizabeth might have passed out somewhere like last time, with no idea what happened to her.
Sarah said, "Then I left. Elizabeth was still at the Sky Entertainment Club. That Paul guy seemed to be her type. Elizabeth likes that kind."
Dean wanted to scream. "Sarah! How could you leave Elizabeth alone at the Sky Entertainment Club? And with a stranger! Do you know what could happen?"
Sarah hadn't thought that far. "I just wanted Elizabeth to relax."
Since Sarah was Elizabeth's best friend, Dean couldn't say much and hung up.
He called Elizabeth. No answer.
Just then, Nancy called him, saying Elizabeth had come home and was sleeping in her room, looking exhausted.
Dean bolted from the office and sped back to the villa.
He needed to check on Elizabeth and find out if anything bad had happened last night—if that gigolo had forced her into anything.
As Dean drove up, he spotted a black car parked at the gate of the Jones Villa from a distance. The guy in a black suit standing there looked a lot like Michael.
Dean thought, 'Why is Michael here so early? Is he here to mess with Elizabeth again?'
He floored it and pulled up to the gate. He rolled down the window and yelled, "Michael!"
Michael turned around and saw Dean.
Seeing Michael drenched from head to toe, Dean couldn't help but laugh.
Earlier, from a distance, with Michael in black clothes, Dean hadn't noticed he was soaked.
Now standing in front of him, Dean saw Michael's pale, cold face and felt a bit of pity.
But he didn't hold back. "What are you doing here so early, showering at Elizabeth's doorstep? Did your showerhead break?"
The bodyguard glared at Dean fiercely.
Dean rolled his eyes. "Private property. Unwanted guests, please stay away."
He punched in the gate code and said coldly to Michael, "Come in. Change your clothes with me. If you catch a cold, you'll have to bother Nolan again."
Michael followed Dean into the yard. The bodyguard, who had planned to go in with Michael, ended up waiting outside after being stopped.
Michael was already unwelcome; bringing a bodyguard in would only get them both kicked out.
Inside the living room, Nancy watched Michael quietly. She didn't stop him.
Dean said, "Nancy, I'll take him to my room to change. If he catches a cold, he'll cause trouble for Nolan."
Nancy nodded. "Go ahead."
She was worried too.
Nolan was still a kid, not knowing his limits. She feared Michael might retaliate against Nolan.
After all, Michael had almost killed Nolan and Pearl back then.
Michael thought to himself, 'Do you all think I'm that petty?'
Dean took Michael to his room.
He opened the closet and handed Michael a black suit. "I don't usually wear black suits. Elizabeth bought this one for me. No idea who she intended it for."
Dean left, leaving Michael to change.
Soon, Nancy hurried over. "Dean, go check on Elizabeth. She's burning up!"
Dean hadn't had time to respond when the door burst open.
Michael rushed out. "Where's Elizabeth? What's wrong with her?"
Nancy said, "Elizabeth seems to have a fever and is talking nonsense."
Michael glared at Dean. "Take me to her!"
Dean was startled by Michael's urgency. He pointed to the stairs. "Elizabeth's room is on the second floor."
Michael took long strides, running up the stairs.
The main bedroom door on the second floor was wide open.
Michael walked in to find Elizabeth lying on the bed, with Nolan and Pearl by her side. Nolan was touching Elizabeth's forehead. Pearl was holding Elizabeth's hand.
Both kids looked worried.
Pearl was almost in tears. "Mom, what's wrong?"
Elizabeth's face was flushed, one hand tightly gripping the blanket.
Michael walked over and touched her forehead.
The scorching temperature startled him.
He decisively wrapped Elizabeth in the blanket and carried her downstairs, out of the villa.
Dean shouted after him. "Michael, wait for me."
The bodyguard, seeing Michael carrying Elizabeth, quickly opened the car door.
Michael swiftly placed Elizabeth in the back seat. The bodyguard closed the door and got in the front.
The driver hit the gas, and the Rolls-Royce sped away.
Dean stomped his foot in frustration.
Nancy asked, "What's going on? Where's Elizabeth?"
Dean said, "Michael was too fast! I didn't even have time to react! I'll go after him now. Nancy, you go back. The kids are still home. Don't worry. I'll stay with Elizabeth."
At the hospital, Elizabeth lay on the bed, already receiving an IV.
Dean arrived at the hospital and found Elizabeth's room.
He was out of breath from running. "Michael, why did you run so fast?"
Michael hadn't planned to respond. But considering Dean had kindly given him clothes, he did. "Elizabeth has a high fever. She's already shivering. I was afraid she'd have a seizure and damage her brain."
Dean thought, 'Michael actually cares about Elizabeth.'
The nurse gave Elizabeth a dexamethasone injection.
Michael touched Elizabeth's forehead, feeling it cool down.
She should wake up soon.
Michael said softly, "Dean."
Dean looked up and said, "What?"
Michael looked at Elizabeth and said, "Elizabeth is still in her pajamas. I'm afraid when she wakes up..."
Dean slapped his forehead and said, "In the rush, I forgot. I'll go get her some clothes."
Michael said, "Hurry back."
Dean left.
As he walked out of the room, Dean wondered why he so readily agreed to do what Michael asked.
