Chapter 133 The three of them?

Michael leaned back and said, "Even if Eloise gets better, she'll need to keep up with her exercises. You could be her family doctor. Your skills will always be in demand."

Calla sighed, looking down. "Mr. Thomas, it's not that I don't want to keep treating Eloise. It's just... I'm not getting any younger. I've spent my whole life focused on my studies and career, and I've never even dated. Now, my family is all over me to find a boyfriend and get married. They don't care about my career anymore. It's all about marriage—they call me every day about it, and it's driving me nuts."

Michael shrugged. "That's easy. There are plenty of great single guys at Stellar Enterprises. I can introduce you. You can meet them and see if anyone clicks."

Calla looked at him seriously. "Mr. Thomas, have you thought this through? If I get married or start dating, treating Eloise will just be part of my job. My main focus will be on my boyfriend or husband."

Michael frowned, catching the hint in her words. "Dr. Griffin, for Eloise's sake, I will never marry again."

Calla pressed on. "Mr. Thomas, you can spend money on Eloise without a second thought, and you can stay single for her. So why not accept me as a girlfriend who can always treat Eloise?"

She watched his face. Seeing he wasn't against the idea, she continued, "Mr. Thomas, I can stay unmarried too. If I can be your girlfriend, I can deal with my family's pressure to marry. It would also make it easier for me to treat Eloise and focus entirely on her care. I think this wouldn't be a loss for you."

Michael thought for a moment. "I'll consider your proposal."

Calla smiled.

Michael said he'd consider it, which meant there was a good chance it would happen.

Calla's goal was to become the lady of the Thomas Group.

From their interactions, she knew she couldn't rush things with Michael. She had to plan carefully.

First, she'd become his girlfriend.

Then, she'd slowly work her way to becoming his wife.

After all, Eloise's treatment would take a long time.

She had worked so hard, studying diligently and striving at work, only to end up working for others.

No matter how hard she worked, she was just serving others.

To enter high society, marriage was her only way.

Michael was a perfect choice.

How could she not seize such a good opportunity?

The biggest problem now was finding someone who could perform surgery on Eloise.

She knew her limits.

She couldn't perform a better surgery on Eloise than the last one, which was already beyond her skills, let alone the upcoming ones.

Calla squinted slightly. What she needed to do next was to first gain Michael's absolute trust, and then find a doctor who could operate on Eloise.

She needed time.

In the evening, Elizabeth, still in the Jones Group, was packing up to go home.

She'd been on her feet all day and was feeling pretty sore.

Her phone rang.

It was Sarah.

Elizabeth picked up.

Sarah's usually upbeat voice sounded a bit off. "Elizabeth."

Elizabeth asked with concern, "Sarah, what's up? Something wrong?"

"Not with me. It's you."

Elizabeth felt a wave of relief and chuckled. "I'm working hard, and everything's fine. What could be wrong?"

Sarah's tone got serious. "Elizabeth, I heard from David that Michael, that jerk, is with Calla now."

Elizabeth was momentarily stunned.

Sarah, not hearing a response, got worried. "Elizabeth, you okay? You don't still have feelings for that jerk Michael, do you? Doesn't he already have Eloise? And now he's with Calla too? I just don't get it! Michael already moved Eloise into his house. Calla's staying at Moonlit Grove. The three of them? It's a mess. Elizabeth, you should be glad! It's a good thing you divorced him early! Otherwise, you'd be dragged into this chaos, and your reputation would be ruined too."

Elizabeth tried to speak but found her throat dry. "Sarah. Why would anything be wrong? We're officially divorced. We're strangers now. He can love whoever he wants, sleep with whoever he wants, even marry whoever he wants. It has nothing to do with me."

Sarah, always in tune with Elizabeth's feelings, noticed the tremor in her voice. "Elizabeth, should I not have told you this? But even if I didn't, you'd find out eventually. Better to be prepared. And you'll find someone better, I promise. Michael isn't worth your tears, Elizabeth. There are plenty of good men waiting for you!"

Sarah paused, then added, "Elizabeth, I'm not defending Michael, but David said the reason Michael agreed to be with Calla is because she threatened him with continuing Eloise's surgery and treatment. He did it all for Eloise."

Elizabeth didn't want to continue that topic. "Yeah, Sarah, I get it. I'm busy wrapping up work now. The company's just starting to redevelop, and I'm swamped."

"Alright, we'll chat later when you have time." After hanging up, Elizabeth put down what she was packing and slumped into her chair.

She had pretended to be busy to end the conversation with Sarah.

In reality, her mind was in turmoil.

Who could threaten Michael?

If he didn't want to, who could force him to do anything?

How did she ever fall for someone like Michael?

She had made herself so miserable for Michael.

Elizabeth stood up and took a deep breath.

She thought, 'Michael can be with whoever he wants! I don't care! He's just a bad guy I don't want anyway!'
