Chapter 207 What Exactly Happened
Calla's eyes widened in shock.
No wonder Elizabeth was so scared of Michael finding out about the parentage of her two kids. Turned out, back when they were still together, Michael was a total control freak! His actions were downright terrifying!
Calla wondered if Michael had changed at all.
She knew Michael had once forced Elizabeth to get an abortion, but she never imagined he had been so violent about it.
How did Elizabeth put up with it?
No wonder she insisted on divorcing him.
No way. Calla couldn't make the same mistakes as Elizabeth.
She still needed Michael for her own plans. Without this kid, she'd have no leverage.
She had to figure out a way to save herself and get some allies.
At Stellar Enterprises, in the President's Office, Michael called Daniel in. "Where were you last night?"
Daniel was confused by the sudden question. 'Last night, you took me to Elizabeth's party. It's only been one night. You don't remember? Are you prematurely entering old age? Showing signs of dementia already?'
Daniel said, "Mr. Thomas, last night I was at Elizabeth's party."
Michael frowned. "What about me?"
Daniel thought Michael really had forgotten everything.
He said, "Mr. Thomas, you drank too much at the party last night. Elizabeth saw you weren't feeling well and got you a room on the 28th floor. She helped you up to rest."
Did Michael forget all this?
Michael tried to remember.
A room on the 28th floor? Elizabeth helped him to rest?
He had a vague memory of it.
He said, "Then what happened? How did I end up at Sky Entertainment Club? Isn't that place just for women? They only have male escorts there. There's no way I'd go there for no reason. How did I end up there?"
Daniel felt pretty awkward. "Mr. Thomas, last night David's girlfriend had a gift for Elizabeth at that club..."
Michael frowned, signaling him to continue.
Daniel said, "The gift was those gigolos. You heard Elizabeth was going to hire one to drink with her and got really mad. Without a word, you rushed over. We couldn't keep up with you."
"So, you didn't go?" Michael asked.
Daniel replied, "Yeah."
"Only I went?" Michael asked again.
Daniel said, "The driver took you there. Later, Calla also went."
Michael said, "Calla went later?"
Daniel said, "Yeah. She went to your room to find you, but you weren't there. Then she called us to ask where you went. We told her. I think she went to the club to find you right away."
Michael's heart raced.
He really did see Elizabeth last night.
As for what exactly happened in that private room at Sky Entertainment Club, he'd have to ask Elizabeth.
Michael signaled Daniel to leave.
After Daniel left, Michael called Elizabeth.
He wanted to ask her if they were really together last night.
The sweet kisses, the passionate embrace, and those intimate words in his memory—he needed to confirm if they were with Elizabeth.
He called three times in a row, but Elizabeth didn't answer.
Michael frowned.
Why wasn't Elizabeth answering the phone? Was she hiding something? Or did she not want to face him?
Michael called the Jones Group.
The receptionist told him Elizabeth didn't come to work today.
Michael went downstairs. He needed to go to her house and ask her face to face.
He couldn't believe he might've slept with Calla.
At Whispering Pines Estates, Elizabeth lay in bed, shivering from the cold.
She had the heater on and was wrapped in a thick blanket.
But she was still freezing.
The blood vessels in her temples were throbbing.
Her head hurt, her forehead was burning, but her limbs were ice cold.
She knew she was sick. But she didn't have the strength to get out of bed and call for help.
Her phone kept ringing. She heard it and wanted to pick it up, but it was on the table, out of her reach.
She was already delirious with a fever.
The doorbell rang, and Nancy went to the monitor and saw Michael standing outside. She decisively closed the living room door.
Pearl asked, "Grandma, who is it?"
Nancy replied coldly, "Michael. Someone not welcome here."
With that, Nancy returned to the kitchen.
Pearl climbed up to the second floor to find Nolan.
The two of them didn't go to preschool today.
Pearl said, "Nolan, Michael is here, ringing the doorbell. Grandma didn't let him in."
Nolan listened and looked out the second-floor window towards the front gate.
Michael and his bodyguard were standing outside.
Pearl came over and stood next to Nolan. "Nolan, do you have an idea? Do you need my help?"
Nolan shook his head. "No, I have Falcon to help me."
Falcon was the robot Dean had sent from Valoria.
Nolan had already upgraded Falcon's functional system and was now inputting commands into its remote control panel.
He thought, 'Michael came to provoke us on his own? Well, he can't blame me for what happens next.'
Nolan said, "Falcon, go."
Falcon received the order and left. It exited the main building, entered the yard, and walked to the front gate.
Its infrared eyes scanned Michael outside the gate.
After confirming the target, Falcon repeated the task command. "Begin cleaning."
Falcon sprayed a stream of water at Michael through the wooden gate.
Caught off guard, Michael was drenched.
The bodyguard quickly pulled Michael away, but it was too late.
Michael was soaked.
The bodyguard asked with concern, "Mr. Thomas, are you okay?"
Michael wiped the water off his face and retorted angrily, "Do I look okay to you?"
The bodyguard quickly fetched a towel from the car to help Michael dry off.
Michael's clothes were already soaked, and to make matters worse, the autumn wind blew, bringing a biting chill. He sneezed.
The bodyguard was a bit angry. "How could Elizabeth do this to you? You didn't do anything excessive to her!"
Michael waved his hand. "It wasn't her. She's not that childish."
Such childish behavior couldn't possibly be Elizabeth's doing.
There was only one possibility, Nolan was home. This was his doing.
Controlling a robot to spray water at him. This was a piece of cake for Nolan.
One couldn't look at him as an ordinary four-year-old.
Michael took out his phone and called Elizabeth.
The system prompt sounded, "The number you dialed is powered off, please try again later."
Michael looked at his phone in disbelief.
Since Elizabeth was at home, she should have charged her phone. It shouldn't be off due to a dead battery.
Could it be that she deliberately turned off her phone to avoid his calls?
Could it be that something really happened between them last night that he forgot?
He was about to call again.
A familiar male voice rang out. "Michael!"
