Chapter 268 Pregnancy

Surrounded by a bunch of guys in black suits, the man looked like he had his own personal security detail.

Sarah walked over and asked, "Elizabeth, who's this dude? All decked out like that, is he here to rob us?"

Elizabeth burst out laughing. She opened the door and welcomed him warmly.

The guy walked into the living room and gave Elizabeth a big hug. "Elizabeth, finally, I get to see you."

Sarah stared at the young man, totally confused.

He took off his hat, mask, and sunglasses, then smiled at Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, got company? Sorry for barging in; I should've given you a heads-up."

Elizabeth laughed and said, "Carter, no need to be so formal. I'm not some big shot, no need for an appointment."

She pointed at Sarah and said, "This is my best friend, Sarah Martinez."

Sarah's eyes went wide as she looked at him. "Oh my God! Are you really Carter? I'm meeting my living idol!"

Elizabeth playfully scolded, "Sarah, what are you talking about?"

Sarah was still in shock, covering her mouth with both hands, staring at Carter in disbelief.

Carter blushed a bit and said, "Ms. Martinez, are you sure you want to keep staring at me like that?"

Elizabeth patted Sarah's shoulder and said, "Come on, invite Carter to sit down!"

Sarah snapped out of it, "I'm sorry! I almost thought I was dreaming."

Pearl heard the noise and came downstairs. She looked at Carter and extended her hand. "Hi, I'm Pearl Jones. I've seen you on the posters my mom collects."

Carter bent slightly to shake her hand and said, "Hello, beautiful girl. I'm Carter McGinnis. Nice to meet you."

Pearl beamed and said, "You're so handsome, and your voice is amazing. We all love you."

Carter replied, "Thank you, ladies, for your affection."

Elizabeth asked, "Carter, how's your health? Still doing rehab?"

Carter replied, "Elizabeth, don't worry about me. I came to visit to tell you I'm fine now. I've been working on a new song and planning to release a new album."

Sarah said excitedly, "I can't wait!"

Carter smiled and said, "When the album's out, you'll be the first to hear it."

He took a small rectangular box from his bag and handed it to Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, this is a gift for you. I hope you'll accept it," he said.

Elizabeth was about to decline when Carter held her hand and said, "Open it and see. It's not something expensive. If you refuse, I'll be sad."

Elizabeth withdrew her hand and said, "Alright then; thank you, Carter."

Carter left after hanging out for a bit.

Sarah was still buzzing from meeting her idol and hadn't calmed down.

She grabbed Elizabeth's sleeve and said, "Elizabeth, pinch me. Was I really not dreaming? Did I really meet Carter? Did he really smile at me?"

Elizabeth shook her head and lightly flicked her forehead. "It's real!"

She opened the gift box Carter left, and inside was a silver necklace.

The next morning, Elizabeth arrived at the office.

Secretary Cecilia smiled and handed her a bouquet of golden sunflowers. "Ms. Jones, these were delivered to the front desk. You weren't here, so I accepted them for you."

Elizabeth took them and saw the card inside: [Elizabeth: Wishing you a wonderful day! May your mood be as bright as these flowers!]

The signature was a single letter "C."

Elizabeth guessed the flowers were from Carter and smiled as she placed them in a vase.

Cecilia opened the curtains, letting the sunlight stream in, making Elizabeth feel calm and peaceful.

Cecilia then gently closed the door and left.

Elizabeth quietly looked out the window for a while, then glanced at the sunflowers on her desk. She thought that if life could continue like this, it would be pretty sweet.

What she didn't know was that the secretaries outside the CEO's office were buzzing about who Elizabeth's new boyfriend might be.

At noon, Dean came by to take Elizabeth to lunch.

Dean brought a plate of curry beef pasta and sat across from Elizabeth.

As soon as Elizabeth smelled it, she felt nauseous and quickly ran to the bathroom to throw up.

When she returned, Dean looked at her with concern and asked, "Elizabeth, what's wrong? Is your stomach upset? If you don't like the smell, I won't eat it."

Elizabeth shook her head and replied, "No, maybe I haven't been eating much lately, and suddenly smelling something so strong made me feel sick. It should be fine in a few days."

But Dean was still worried. "You often eat irregularly, which is bad for your stomach. A stomach check requires fasting. But you've already had breakfast today. Tomorrow morning, I'll go with you to the hospital for a check-up."

Elizabeth refused, "The company has been so busy lately. You don't need to go. I can go by myself. It's not a big deal."

Dean said, "Then I'll call Louis and ask him to accompany you. After all, Harmony Health Hospital is owned by his family."

Elizabeth stopped him from dialing and said, "Dean, it's just a small matter. Don't bother Louis. I can go by myself. There's no need to make a big fuss."

Dean thought to himself, 'It seems Louis really has no chance with Elizabeth. If she had even a little bit of romantic feelings for Louis, she wouldn't refuse his help. Louis, you should give up early.'

The next morning, Dean went to the company while Elizabeth drove herself to the hospital.

After a series of tests at the hospital, she returned to the Jones Group.

Dean saw her return so quickly and couldn't help but ask, "How were the test results? What did the doctor say?"

Elizabeth replied, "I just finished the tests. The results won't be out so soon. I'll have to wait until this afternoon to see the report."

Dean suddenly thought of something and quickly asked her, "Which hospital did you go to?"

Elizabeth buried herself in work and replied, "Tomorrow's Cure Hospital. Why do you ask?"

Dean muttered, "I thought you would go to Hope Hospital."

Elizabeth frowned and asked, "Why would I go to Hope Hospital?"

As soon as she said it, she realized that Michael was still hospitalized at Hope Hospital.

Was Dean afraid she couldn't resist visiting Michael?

Thinking of this, Elizabeth softly said, "Dean, let's not mention that person anymore, okay?"

Dean said, "I didn't even say who..."

He then glanced at Elizabeth and continued, "Alright! No more mentioning! Let that bastard stay out of our lives forever!"

In the afternoon, while Elizabeth was still working, she received a message on her phone. It was her test report from the hospital.

She thought her body should be fine, so she opened it slowly.

But the moment she saw the test results, she was stunned.

She couldn't believe the significantly elevated HCG levels on the report.

She was pregnant?
