Chapter 335 Quarrel

Elizabeth stood up, a bitter smile on her face. "So, you still don't believe me, huh?" Her expression was cold and distant.

"The evidence is at the police station. You can go check it out yourself. I've already proven my innocence to the cops. I don't owe anyone else an explanation."

She pressed the intercom button and spoke into the receiver, "Security, please escort the unauthorized personnel out of The Jones Group."

Her lips were pale and bloodless.

Michael's eyes were filled with pain. "Elizabeth, did you just call me 'unauthorized personnel'?"

Elizabeth didn't look at him. "You chose to side with Calla over me. Why should I consider you on my side? Since you believe her, why should I support you? How pathetic must I be?"

Michael nodded coldly, a bitter smile on his face. "Fine! Very well! You said 'pathetic'! Yes! I'm the pathetic one! The shameless one who keeps coming back to you for answers!"

Elizabeth closed her eyes and pointed to the door. "Mr. Thomas, please leave! You're not welcome here!"

A knock on the door signaled the arrival of the security personnel.

Elizabeth pressed a button, and the door swung open. The security team entered, looking awkwardly at Elizabeth.

'Isn't this man Elizabeth's rumored boyfriend? Are we really supposed to kick him out? What if they're just having a lovers' quarrel? If we force him out and they make up later, won't we be the ones in trouble?'

The head of security looked at Elizabeth, unsure.

Elizabeth shouted, "What are you waiting for? Get him out!" She gave Michael no dignity.

Michael's face darkened. "No need to force me! I'll leave on my own!" He stormed out, furious.

The security team also left.

In the suddenly quiet office, Elizabeth sat down, holding her head, feeling overwhelmed.

Calla was dead, and her accusations before her death had become a thorn in Elizabeth's heart.

This thorn stood between her and Michael, creating an insurmountable chasm that she had to remove.

Michael stormed out of The Jones Group and headed to the police station.

The chief showed him the video evidence Elizabeth had submitted earlier.

"Mr. Thomas, Ms. Jones indeed had no opportunity to commit the crime. This video proves she was in this office at Harmony Health Hospital all afternoon and only left in the evening."

Michael stared at the office door. The nameplate was clear: [Louis' Specialist Clinic.]

So, she had been with Louis in that office all afternoon.

A man and a woman alone in there, what were they doing? Why couldn't she tell him? If it was something aboveboard, why hide it from him?

Michael left the police station, his mind racing. What were Elizabeth and Louis doing all afternoon? Why couldn't she tell him?

At some point, it started raining again.

A bodyguard saw him and quickly opened an umbrella, helping him into the car.

At The Jones Group, Elizabeth looked out at the rain, remembering what had happened between them that night.

If it hadn't rained that night, she wouldn't have chased him downstairs, and they wouldn't have ended up in bed together.

Frustrated, she closed her files, didn't even grab her coat, and headed downstairs.

She walked out of the building, and the bodyguard tried to follow her with an umbrella. She waved him off. "No need, let me be alone."

She walked into the rain, needing it to cool her down.

The bodyguard, worried about her pregnancy, followed at a distance.

Elizabeth walked further and further, her clothes soaked, her hair dripping, and her steps becoming unsteady.

Seeing this, the bodyguard rushed to support her.

Elizabeth fainted.

The bodyguard called Dean and the driver.

Dean arrived first, hurriedly getting out of the car. "What happened? Why is Elizabeth out here?"

The bodyguard felt guilty. "I didn't realize Ms. Jones was in such a bad mood. I thought she was just taking a walk. I didn't expect her to walk so far in the rain."

Dean was furious. "Did you forget she's pregnant? Pregnant!"

The bodyguard hung his head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Palmer."

Dean picked up Elizabeth. "Forget it, it's not your fault. It's good you followed her."

The bodyguard opened the car door, and Dean placed Elizabeth in the back seat. "I'll take her to the hospital. You go back and watch the kids."

The bodyguard agreed. "Okay."

Dean drove Elizabeth to Harmony Health Hospital.

Louis arrived quickly after hearing the news.

He took Elizabeth's temperature. She had a fever.

Louis spoke with concern. "Dean, why would Elizabeth suddenly want to walk in the rain? What happened?"

Dean replied, "I don't know. The bodyguard called me, and I rushed over when I saw her like this. But I heard Michael went to The Jones Group today."

Louis sighed. "I figured it had to do with Michael. Elizabeth only loses her mind over him."

Dean shook his head, sighing. "Let's get her fever down. She's burning up."

Louis was helpless. "She's pregnant. If she wakes up and finds out I gave her medication, she'll kill me."

Dean was anxious. "What should we do then?"

Louis suggested, "She's like this because of Michael. Why don't you call him?"

Dean nodded. "Okay."

He immediately took out his phone and called Michael.

"Michael, Elizabeth has a fever. She's at the hospital."

Michael was surprised to receive a call from Dean, but he hadn't expected it to be news about Elizabeth being ill.

He was still upset about Elizabeth and Louis spending the whole afternoon together. So, he angrily replied, "She's got Louis. Why call me?"

Dean was infuriated by his tone and response. "Michael, do you have any conscience? Elizabeth is carrying your child!"

Michael growled, "Does she care about the child? If she did, why would she spend so much time alone with another man? Did she consider my feelings?"

Dean was exasperated. "What happened between you two? Yesterday, everything seemed fine. Why would Elizabeth be so upset to walk in the rain? She's got a fever now! Louis doesn't dare give her medication because she's worried about the baby!"

Michael scoffed. "Louis is with her? Let him handle it. I'm not needed."

Dean stared at the abruptly ended call, feeling baffled.

Louis asked, "Is Michael coming?"

Dean shook his head helplessly. "They had a big fight. Michael is very angry. He said he's mad because you and Elizabeth spent the whole afternoon alone in your office!"
