Chapter 519 Who Bullied Her
Gerald didn't wait any longer. "Yeah. By then, Michael was already with Cordelia. He'd definitely think about her feelings."
"Mr. Murphy, Ms. Murphy is the dream girl for a lot of guys. You just handed her over to Michael? Are you really okay with that?"
"I've put so much into Cordelia. She's my pride and joy. If she can help me use Michael to get what I want, then she's done her job."
Midnight Bar in Aurora Bay.
Matthew sat in a private booth, quietly sipping his drink.
Owen walked over and clapped him on the shoulder with a grin. "Matthew, why are you sitting here drinking alone?"
He waved at the hostesses in the booth. "What's the deal? Why isn't anyone keeping Matthew company?"
Matthew gently brushed Owen's hand away and scooted a bit further from him.
Owen, being quick on the uptake, laughed. "Are you avoiding me? I guess I deserve a drink for that!"
He grabbed a bottle, poured a full glass, stood up, and downed it in one go.
Everyone in the booth gasped.
That was some strong liquor, and Owen just chugged it.
He let out a big burp and plopped back down on the couch.
"Matthew, did I do something to piss you off? Just tell me straight."
Matthew slowly swirled his glass, crossed one leg over the other, and replied coolly, "I heard something and thought I'd ask you about it today."
Seeing Matthew's demeanor, Owen started to sweat.
He forced a smile. "Matthew, whatever it is, just ask. I'll be straight with you."
Matthew put his leg down and set his glass on the table.
The glass clinked against the marble.
Owen seemed to swallow hard.
"Mr. Miller, I had a friend's younger sister, Sherry, who I was asked to look after. I even told Alfie to keep an eye on her. But then I heard you threatened Alfie and gave that girl something nasty to drink."
Matthew finished speaking and shot a sideways glance at Owen.
Owen immediately dropped to his knees at Matthew's feet.
Everyone in the booth was stunned.
Owen grabbed Matthew's leg, his voice shaking. "Matthew, I didn't know Sherry was someone you were looking out for. I thought she was just... your..."
Owen knelt there, his face red.
Matthew snorted. "Just what?"
Owen whispered, "I thought she was just your plaything, someone you were done with."
Matthew sneered. "My plaything? Owen, do you even know who Sherry's brother is? If he finds out what you did, the Miller family won't be able to stay in Aurora Bay!"
Sweat poured down Owen's face. He panted, kneeling at Matthew's feet, almost collapsing. "Matthew, please, you have to help me. You must have a good relationship with him, or he wouldn't have asked you to look after Sherry."
Matthew kicked Owen's hand away and brushed off his pants like he was dusting off dirt. He spoke with a chilling politeness. "Owen, after you drugged Sherry and got her pregnant, how do you plan to make up for that?"
The simple question made everyone in the booth fall silent, each person breaking into a cold sweat.
Owen frowned and waved the hostesses out of the booth.
Matthew stared coldly at Owen on the floor. "Mr. Miller, what, you can't own up to what you did? I'm wondering if I should tell my friend about this and see if he decides to wipe out the Miller family."
He glanced pointedly at Owen's lower body.
Owen felt like Matthew's gaze was a knife, cutting into his flesh.
He instinctively clamped his legs tighter.
A man in the corner cautiously approached and whispered something in Owen's ear.
Owen's face lit up with sudden hope, as if he had found a lifeline.
Matthew glared at the young man, who couldn't withstand his gaze and also knelt down.
"Matthew, Matthew, it's not that I wanted to rebel, but that night, Owen didn't actually succeed. I swear."
Matthew frowned. "Then how do you explain Sherry's pregnancy?"
He called out, "Get Alfie in here."
Someone quickly went to fetch Alfie.
Alfie entered the booth, saw the situation, and knew Owen's misdeeds had reached Matthew.
He smiled, slightly bowing, and approached Matthew. "Mr. Anderson, is there something we didn't do right? Did we upset you?"
Owen, still kneeling, looked at Alfie with pleading eyes.
"Alfie, tell Matthew, you were my witness. I didn't touch Sherry that night."
Matthew gave Alfie a cold look. "Is that true?"
Alfie laughed nervously, wiping nonexistent sweat from his forehead. "Mr. Miller may be a bit wild, but he didn't actually harm Sherry."
Matthew snorted. "Didn't harm her? You gave her a drug, and you call that not harming her?"
With that, Matthew stood up and threw his glass on the floor, shattering it.
A piece of glass cut Owen's cheek, drawing blood. He didn't dare wipe it away.
He knew Michael and Matthew were close, and he had already guessed who Sherry's brother was.
In Celestria, especially in Aurora Bay, everyone knew Michael's ruthless reputation.
Matthew, usually seen as a carefree playboy, now showed a different side. If Matthew was like this, how much more brutal would the infamous Michael be?
Owen didn't dare think further.
As Owen trembled, fearing Michael might castrate him, Alfie quietly said to Matthew, "Mr. Anderson, please come with me. I have something to show you."
