Chapter 502 Devil
Sherry was caught off guard; she hadn't expected Elizabeth to be so blunt.
She nodded, "Yeah. I just lost my job. And I need to find a new place to live."
Elizabeth leaned back in her chair, "That bar job? Losing it isn't the end of the world. Besides, a young woman like you shouldn't be working there; it's too easy to get taken advantage of."
Sherry looked down, thinking, 'I already have been, even though Owen didn't get anything out of it.'
Elizabeth motioned for her to sit, "And about your living situation, you really shouldn't be staying with Matthew anymore. He's a grown man and single. People might get the wrong idea."
Sherry was confused, "How do you know so much? Have you been checking up on me?"
She felt a bit uneasy. She had come to ask for Elizabeth's help, but now that she realized Elizabeth knew so much about her life, she regretted coming.
Elizabeth smiled, "What are you thinking? Why would I investigate you? Matthew told your brother everything. I was there when he said it, so I know a bit."
Sherry quietly breathed a sigh of relief, "Then you..."
She bit her lip lightly. It was hard to ask for help from a woman she barely knew.
Elizabeth spoke up, "At the company, you can call me 'Ms. Jones.'"
She pulled out a piece of paper, wrote down two contacts, and handed it to Sherry.
"Later, I'll have someone take you to the mall to get a sales associate uniform. You can work there for now. When you find a job you like, let me know, and you can leave. As for housing, I'll have someone find you a suitable place to rent. I'll cover the first month's rent since you probably can't afford it right now. I know you have some money, but it's likely what your father left you for emergencies, and you probably don't want to use it now."
She handed the paper to Sherry, "The names and numbers on here will help you find a place to live and get familiar with the Jones Group's mall. I'll call them first."
Sherry took the paper and sincerely said, "Thank you, Ms. Jones."
Elizabeth waved her hand, "No need to thank me. Your brother doesn't like dealing with these trivial matters. I don't want to bother him, so I'm helping you out. If you have any issues in the future that you can't discuss with him, you can come to me."
Sherry nodded, "Okay, I understand."
Elizabeth looked at her, "I have a bit of a selfish reason for this arrangement. You have a great figure and appearance. With proper training, you should excel as a sales associate. I'm looking forward to seeing your performance."
Sherry smiled at her, "Thank you, Ms. Jones. I'll work hard and try not to disappoint you."
Elizabeth watched her leave and immediately called the two contacts, instructing them to take care of Sherry. One was to find her a place to live, and the other to guide her at work.
After arranging everything, Elizabeth called Michael.
"Michael."
Michael was surprised to receive Elizabeth's call.
"Elizabeth."
"What are you busy with?"
Michael closed the photo interface in his email and replied, "What else? Just work. What about you? What's going on with you?"
Elizabeth smiled, "You should thank me."
Michael chuckled, "Thank you."
Elizabeth laughed lightly, "You don't even ask why, and you say thank you?"
Michael replied seriously, "I trust you. You must have your reasons."
Elizabeth lowered her head, "Alright, I'll tell you. Your sister Sherry just came by. She lost her job and doesn't want to stay with Matthew anymore, so I arranged a new place and job for her. She's going to work as a sales associate at the Jones Group's mall. Michael, are you satisfied with my arrangement?"
"Very satisfied. Thanks for solving my problem. Matthew keeps complaining to me, asking me to get her out of there. I don't even want to answer his calls or see him now."
"By the way, I found her a rental place. Let her stay there for a while, and then you can buy her a house later. Buying a house takes time, and she can't wait."
"Okay. We'll go with your plan. I didn't intend to buy her a house so quickly anyway. I don't want her to get too complacent. Let her work at your mall first and experience life's hardships."
After hanging up, Elizabeth's smile faded. Her biggest problem now was with William and Anthony.
As she was pondering a solution, Anthony's call came through.
"Elizabeth, when are you going to get Michael's shares? My dad and I can't wait any longer."
Elizabeth frowned tightly, annoyed, "You said it yourself, those are Michael's shares! How can I control his decisions?"
Anthony sneered, "Really? Doesn't he love you? For you, he should be willing to give up anything, right? Just a company, is it more important than you?"
Elizabeth held back her irritation and coldly replied, "Don't rush me! I know what I'm doing!"
Anthony sneered again, "I don't care if you know or not. I just know that someone here might not have much time left. I guess you want to see him. I can arrange that."
Elizabeth's phone buzzed with a message.
She opened it to see a picture of Quinn tied to a bed, with a syringe in his elbow, drawing blood. The container next to him was already filled with a lot of red liquid.
It was Quinn's blood!
Elizabeth's head buzzed. She steadied herself by gripping the edge of the desk, gritting her teeth, "Anthony! What are you trying to do?"
Anthony laughed, "Don't worry. Take your time. As long as you can bear watching Quinn's blood being drained. Eventually, he'll end up like Eloise, who died from blood loss. You can prepare for his funeral."
Elizabeth's teeth ground together.
Anthony was a monster!
How could he be so cruel? That was his uncle!
Elizabeth took a deep breath, trying to calm down, "Anthony, you're insane! Quinn is part of the Thomas family! If anything happens to him, it's your family's responsibility! The funeral won't be my concern! Put your father on the phone; I need to talk to him."
William's voice came through, "Ms. Jones, what more is there to discuss? You've seen Quinn, and said what you needed to say. I've kept my promise. Now, it's up to you."
