Chapter 435 Birthday Gifts

Sarah quickly drifted off to sleep in David's arms.

In the darkness, David held Sarah close, staring at the ceiling with a mind full of thoughts.

Outside, the night sky was calm and silent. This long night seemed endless, with no sign of dawn.

At the Thomas Villa.

Michael sat on the couch, looking at his phone. Daniel had just sent him a message.

[Mr. Thomas, Dean told me that Elizabeth is planning a birthday party for Nolan and Pearl.]

Michael read the message and thought quietly.

He had never celebrated his kids' birthdays or given them gifts. This time, he was determined to make an effort.

Elizabeth still hadn't forgiven him, Pearl no longer trusted him like she used to, and Nolan still despised him.

Michael thought to himself that he had been a terrible father. He needed to make it up to them.

He could go to the mall first thing in the morning to pick out a gift for Pearl.

Nolan's gift would require more thought. Winning over Nolan's heart wouldn't be easy. He needed to find something that would truly make him happy.

Nolan and Pearl's birthday was fast approaching.

That day, Daniel accompanied Michael to Whispering Pines Estates.

Dean saw them and sighed, "Michael, you're too cunning! You know Elizabeth doesn't want you here, so you brought Daniel along! You know I can't just leave him standing outside."

Michael walked in without a word.

Behind him, Daniel carried a bag, and a bodyguard lugged a large cardboard box.

Elizabeth came downstairs with Pearl.

Pearl saw Michael and was about to shout excitedly, but she glanced at Elizabeth and held back.

Michael smiled as he saw Pearl coming down the stairs like a little princess. "Pearl, Daddy's here. Come see the birthday gift I got for you."

Pearl's eyes lit up, and she ran over.

Daniel handed her the bag. "Pearl, this is for you."

Pearl opened the bag and took out a box. She excitedly opened it to find a pink diamond inside.

She held up the diamond and curiously asked Michael, "Daddy, is this a diamond?"

Michael looked at her with affection. "Yes, Pearl. It's a diamond. You can have it set wherever you like."

Pearl exclaimed, "I want to put it on my fairy wand! It'll look so pretty!"

Michael nodded. "Yes, and it will sparkle!"

Pearl happily ran off to find her wand.

Elizabeth had come down and spoke coolly, "What are you doing here again?"

She remembered clearly. The last time they talked, he left her with a cryptic message and then disappeared without a word. It hadn't ended well.

Michael signaled the bodyguard to bring the box over. "Elizabeth, the kids' birthday is coming up. I brought their gifts early. If they don't like them, I still have time to get something else."

Elizabeth found it hard to believe. "What if they never like them? Are you going to keep trying?"

Michael nodded firmly. "Yes, until they're happy."

Elizabeth was angry. "That's just forcing it! Gifts are about the thought, not about being overbearing like this!"

The bodyguard couldn't help but interject, "Elizabeth, the boss's gift for Nolan hasn't even been opened yet! It's too soon to say anything."

Elizabeth frowned. "Michael, you come here and bring a bodyguard to act all high and mighty? My home isn't a place for just anyone to come and go."

Michael immediately instructed the bodyguard, "Wait in the car. Don't come out unless I call you."

The bodyguard left at once.

Just then, Nolan came in from outside, brushing past the bodyguard.

"Mom, I'm back."

Michael gave Daniel a look.

Daniel quickly stepped forward and approached Nolan.

As Dean's good friend, Daniel often visited Whispering Pines Estates, so Nolan didn't mind him.

"Hey, Daniel, what's up?"

Daniel smiled and pushed the box towards him. "Nolan, this is a birthday gift from your dad. Please accept it."

Nolan glanced at Elizabeth. "Mom, I'm going to my room."

He went straight upstairs.

Michael and Daniel were left feeling awkward and embarrassed as they took their leave.

After they left, Elizabeth called Nolan downstairs.

"Nolan, this is a birthday gift from your dad. You can open it. If you like it, keep it. If not, just ignore it."

Although Elizabeth was still mad at Michael, she wouldn't stop him from being good to the kids. She couldn't deny the kids their desire for a father's love.

Nolan's dislike for Michael initially stemmed from her. She still hoped their father-son relationship could return to normal.

Pearl, hearing that Nolan was going to open the gift, waited excitedly.

Nolan's face was expressionless as he opened the box to reveal a tiger-shaped robot.

He took it out and read the manual.

"Mom, this is a robot designed to keep kids company."

Nolan turned on the robot.

"Hello, I am the TigerBot. I am pleased to be at your service. You can give me a name."

Pearl was thrilled. "Nolan, name it Milo! Do you think it can dance? Can it dance for me?"

Nolan looked at Pearl helplessly. "Okay, it will be called Milo."

The robot shook its head slowly like a child. "Milo can't dance, but Milo can sing."

Nolan scoffed. "Such a childish thing. It's not as good as our Falcon."

Elizabeth also thought the robot was a bit childish for Nolan. Didn't Michael understand his son's intelligence? Why give him something so childish?

Nolan took Milo upstairs.

Pearl asked him, "Nolan, you like Milo, right?"

Nolan didn't answer. "Pearl, can you get me a screwdriver?"

Pearl, though puzzled, brought him a screwdriver.

The next morning, Michael came again. Elizabeth wasn't home, so Susan received him.

"Mr. Thomas, aren't you working today?"

Michael's eyes were fixed on Francis. "It's the weekend. I came to see the kids. Where are Nolan and Pearl?"

Susan placed Francis in the cradle. "Nolan and Pearl are still in their rooms."

Michael looked at Francis in the cradle. "Baby, Daddy's here to see you. Are you happy?"

Francis, only a few months old, couldn't speak yet. He looked at Michael with big eyes and smiled.

Michael's smile widened. "Baby, you're happy to see Daddy too, right?"

Francis waved his little hands and kicked his feet, as if responding to Michael's words.
