Chapter 507 Interrogation
"They didn't just draw blood from my arm; they stuck needles in my legs, my feet, even my neck."
Elizabeth was on the verge of breaking down. She was trembling with anger, her fists clenched tightly, and her teeth grinding.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she cursed under her breath, "Anthony and William are monsters. They'll rot in hell for this! How could they treat you like this? I'm going to sue them. I'll make sure they end up in prison!"
She was about to call her lawyer when her phone rang. It was Matthew.
Elizabeth immediately answered.
Before she could say a word, Matthew's furious voice came through, "Elizabeth, what the hell did you do to Michael? He's completely lost it again! I told you, ever since he met you, he's been acting irrationally. He used to be so decisive! What kind of spell did you cast on him to make him so obedient to you? Tell me, did you use some kind of witchcraft? Why else would he ignore everything I say?"
After Matthew finished his rant, Elizabeth frowned and asked, "Mr. Anderson, shouldn't you first tell me what happened?"
Matthew sneered, "Elizabeth, you really want me to spell it out for you? Don't play dumb! You tricked Michael into transferring all his shares in Stellar Enterprises, didn't you? Haven't you seen the news this morning? Stop pretending you don't know!"
Elizabeth was taken aback. "What news?"
She had been busy preparing for Quinn and Eloise's surgeries over the past few days and hadn't paid any attention to the domestic news.
With Matthew still yelling in her ear, she opened her phone and checked the headlines.
Sure enough, the top story was about Michael stepping down as CEO of STellar Enterprises.
The article included a statement from Michael saying he would no longer be involved in any of the company's affairs.
Elizabeth's hands shook, and her vision blurred.
Should she have told him to wait, that the transfer of shares was only temporary? Once the surgeries were done, she would find a way to have Quinn return the shares?
She quickly ended the call with Matthew and tried calling Michael.
The automated voice informed her, "The number you have dialed is not available. Please try again later."
Not believing it, she grabbed Louis' phone and dialed Michael's number, but it was also unreachable.
Desperate, she called Matthew back, her voice frantic, "Matthew, tell me where Michael is! I haven't seen him in days. He hasn't responded to any of my messages or voicemails."
Matthew laughed coldly, "Elizabeth, how can you ask me where your husband is? He's heartbroken because of you! Can't you see? His heart is shattered, and it won't heal!"
Elizabeth shook her head wildly, "No! He has more than just STellar Enterprises. He has other companies he can run!"
Matthew shouted, "You don't get it at all! You have no idea how sensitive and fragile he is. He gave you his whole heart, and you just stomped all over it! You two just got married, and you already took his assets for another guy! Elizabeth, I wish you'd go to hell!"
Elizabeth opened her mouth but couldn't find the words. She wanted to tell him it wasn't like that.
But it seemed Michael was deeply hurt.
Elizabeth sat on the couch, holding her phone in despair.
Had she made a mistake? Should she have been honest with Michael from the start and told him everything was to save Eloise?
Two days later, the surgery began.
Louis and Elizabeth waited outside the operating room, both anxious and hopeful.
After several long hours, the indicator light finally went off. The surgeon came out and told them the surgery was successful.
Louis and Elizabeth cried tears of joy.
"That's wonderful, Elizabeth. Eloise is going to be okay!"
"Yes, Louis. Eloise is such a good person. God wouldn't take her away so soon."
The doctor cautioned them, "The surgery went well, but post-operative care is crucial. We need to monitor Eloise for any signs of rejection."
Louis and Elizabeth nodded, assuring the doctor they would be vigilant.
After the surgery, Eloise was moved to the ICU.
Louis looked visibly relieved. "This is great, Elizabeth. Eloise will recover now."
Elizabeth gazed at Eloise's peaceful face and said, "Yes, I haven't talked to Eloise in so long. And I'm sure she misses Michael."
Louis agreed, "Yeah, if she wakes up and sees Michael, she'll be so happy. It'll help her recovery."
Elizabeth paused, "But if we tell her Michael is missing, won't she worry and affect her recovery?"
Louis seemed to realize this too. "Maybe we should keep it from her for now?"
Elizabeth nodded reluctantly, "I guess we have no choice."
She sighed softly, "Louis, I think I regret it."
Louis sat beside her, "You regret not telling Michael the truth?"
Elizabeth nodded, "I think I was too presumptuous. I always thought I was strong enough to handle everything alone. But I messed it all up and lost Michael. If I had been honest with him from the start, maybe he would have helped me, and things would have been easier."
Louis comforted her, "Don't blame yourself. This is all my fault. I asked you to keep it from him. I was too focused on Eloise's feelings and her wishes. Don't be sad. Think positively. At least Quinn is with us, and Eloise's surgery was a success. That's the best outcome, right?"
Elizabeth wiped her tears and nodded, "Yes, now we need to make sure Anthony doesn't find us. If he takes Quinn, things will spiral out of control again."
Louis' expression turned serious, "We need to move Quinn so Anthony can't reach him."
Elizabeth looked at Louis, "I have a suggestion."
