Chapter 409 His Hand Reaches Inside Her Clothes

Michael smiled, "I definitely want to see it. Where's Nolan? Is he not home?"

"Nolan and Dean are outside hanging Christmas lights."

"Are you expecting guests tonight?"

Pearl shook her head, "Not yet. But Mom said Sarah might come over."

"Pearl, would you like me to spend Christmas with you all?"

Pearl immediately lit up, "Yes, I would!" Then her voice dropped, "But I don't know what Mom thinks."

Michael paused.

Right, he and Elizabeth were still in a cold war, unresolved issues hanging between them.

Pearl was already running off with her phone to find Elizabeth.

"Mom, can Dad spend Christmas with us?"

Elizabeth didn't turn around; she was hanging cards with holiday wishes on the branches of the Christmas tree. Michael could only see her delicate back.

"Pearl, if you want him to come, you can tell him that."

"Mom, I told Dad, but I still want to know what you think."

Elizabeth turned around, looking at the phone, her expression somewhat unnatural, "Michael, what do you think?"

She glanced at the phone, and Michael felt as if she were right in front of him.

His throat tightened. He realized he wanted to see her, as soon as possible.

His eyes were filled with longing, "Elizabeth, I want to see you... and the kids."

Elizabeth turned back, speaking softly, "If you want to see us, just come. No one's stopping you."

Michael's voice was hoarse, "Elizabeth, wait for me. I'll spend Christmas with you all."

He said to Pearl, "Pearl, I'll hang up now. I need to book a flight."

Michael hadn't arrived yet, but Sarah did.

She brought a bouquet of flowers, smiling as she handed them to Elizabeth, "Elizabeth, Merry Christmas Eve."

Elizabeth took the flowers and placed them in a glass vase. She took Sarah's hand and led her into the living room.

"Sarah, I'm so glad you came. I thought you were mad at me and wouldn't talk to me anymore. I would have lost my best friend in the world."

Sarah smiled, "Elizabeth, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lost my temper with you that day. I wasn't thinking clearly. If I hadn't come today, I would have feared losing my best friend in the world too."

"Sarah, since we're friends, you don't have to pretend around me. Just be yourself."

They exchanged smiles.

"Elizabeth, the past is the past. We can't change it. Let's focus on making the future better!"

"Yes!"

They high-fived and embraced each other tightly.

Elizabeth asked, "Why didn't Wren come with you?"

"I asked her to stay with my dad. They shouldn't be apart for Christmas because of me. Holidays are meant to be spent with loved ones."

Elizabeth handed her a glass of wine, "What about your boyfriend?"

Sarah downed the wine, shrugged, and spread her hands, "We broke up."

Elizabeth was surprised and poured her more wine, "You just started dating. Why so soon?"

Sarah was nonchalant, "I got drunk and shouted David's name. He asked who David was, and I told him he was my ex-husband. He asked if I still loved David and couldn't forget him. I said yes, I hadn't forgotten. He left, saying I should calm down and find him later."

"Are you going to find him?"

"Find him for what? If he left, he left. We didn't have much of a connection anyway. Plus, I need to be true to myself. I still haven't completely gotten over David. If I start a new relationship now, it wouldn't be fair to the other person. I'll focus on my studies for now."

Elizabeth nodded, "That's a good idea. Jumping into a new relationship could just cause more problems."

Dean overheard and came over, laughing, "Sarah, you broke up? Congrats!"

Sarah snapped, "Get lost!"

Dean sat beside her with his drink, "Why should I get lost? You're Elizabeth's good friend, and I'm Elizabeth's good friend. Why can't we be friends?"

Sarah had already had a few drinks and was feeling tipsy. Dean's words confused her, and she frowned, trying to think but couldn't come to a conclusion.

Dean clinked glasses with her, "Breaking up isn't always bad. For example, if I hadn't broken up, I wouldn't have known my partner didn't really love me. He only loved himself. When I got sick, he abandoned me. If Elizabeth hadn't saved me, I'd be a ghost now."

Sarah drank another glass, "To our breakups! To new beginnings!"

Dean raised his glass, "Cheers!"

By the time Michael arrived, Dean and Sarah were already drunk and had gone to sleep.

Pearl and Nolan were asleep. Susan had taken Francis to bed.

Elizabeth was alone in the living room, waiting for him.

Michael walked in and saw her tired face, feeling a pang of guilt, "I told you I'd be late. You should have gone to bed."

"What if we all went to sleep and you ended up at the wrong house?"

Michael put down his suitcase and walked over to her, speaking softly, "You sent me the location. How could I go to the wrong house? Now that I'm here, you should get some rest."

"Sarah drank too much and is sleeping in the guest room. There aren't enough rooms, so you'll have to share with me tonight. Francis is sleeping in Susan's room."

Michael's face softened, "Okay. Does Francis usually sleep with you?"

Elizabeth nodded and led him to her room.

"You should take a shower. You must be tired from the flight."

Michael was touched by her concern, feeling warmth in his heart.

He felt a pang of guilt, remembering how he had taken out his anger on her over Eloise donating blood for Francis. She must have been really hurt.

Elizabeth led him into the room, unable to resist her fatigue, and lay down.

When Michael came out of the bathroom, he saw Elizabeth already asleep. She had been busy all day and waited for him for so long; she must be exhausted.

He dried his hair, tossed the separate blanket prepared for him onto the floor, turned off the light, and gently lay beside her.

Half-asleep, Elizabeth felt like there was a burning furnace next to her, almost too hot to bear.

She kicked off the blanket, murmured softly, and turned over.

In the darkness, Michael lay awake, quietly touching her.

They had been apart for too long. His body missed hers intensely. He was filled with desire for her.

He longed for her touch, her kisses.

He wanted to explore her softness, to leave his marks on her skin again.

He missed holding her close and kissing her freely.

Elizabeth had recently switched to split pajamas for easier nighttime nursing. The sides of her breasts had hidden openings for nursing.

Michael's large hand slipped inside her clothes, kneading her freely. His breath grew heavy as he kissed her neck passionately from behind.
