Chapter 339 Go See Pearl

Among the nationwide audience watching the show, everyone except Michael adored the father-daughter duo of Carter and Pearl.

The live chat was filled with praise for Pearl.

[Pearl is so adorable! I wish I had a sweet daughter like her!]

[Whose little girl is this? She's making me want to have a daughter!]

[Pearl, do you prefer cardboard boxes or plastic bags? I want to pack you up and take you home.]

[Right now, I'm actually jealous of Carter. He gets to hear Pearl call him "Daddy."]

[I've decided. I'm going to fight Carter for custody of Pearl.]

[Isn't anyone curious about what Pearl's real parents look like? They must be incredibly handsome and beautiful to have such a cute and pretty daughter.]

Michael liked this comment. He called Daniel, "Get in touch with the 'Take You on a Journey' production team. I want to invest."

"Yes, Mr. Thomas."

The next day, eager to see Pearl, Michael took his private jet to the filming location and coincidentally ran into Elizabeth, who was there to visit the set.

She was wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a mask, making her almost unrecognizable.

"What are you doing here?"

They both asked in unison upon seeing each other.

Elizabeth had just finished checking in at the hotel front desk. She took her ID back from the staff, grabbed her suitcase, and headed for the elevator.

She turned her head to see Michael following her. She stopped and said quietly, "I'm here to see if Pearl is adjusting well. After all, she's still so young. This is her first time traveling alone. What about you? What are you doing here? Don't tell me your business has brought you to the countryside."

Michael's expression was a bit unnatural, with a hint of grievance, as if accusing her, "Elizabeth, my daughter's first 'Daddy' wasn't even said to me..."

Elizabeth quickly glanced around. "That depends on whether you deserve to be called that. A father who once wanted to kill his own child doesn't get to earn her love without any effort."

She continued walking.

Michael hurried to catch up. "Elizabeth! ... That's not what I meant."

Elizabeth didn't stop. "Then what do you mean? You think you can just waltz in and have the child accept you without any effort? The world doesn't work that way."

Michael pressed the elevator button for her. "What's your room number?"

The hotel only had three floors, and Elizabeth's room was on the second floor.

Although this wasn't a tourist spot, the hotel had been fully booked recently due to the show's filming. She had managed to book two rooms thanks to the production team's connections.

Elizabeth pressed the floor button and turned her head, ignoring him.

Michael pulled her suitcase closer to him and looked down at her, speaking softly, "I'll help you carry your luggage."

When they reached the second floor, as soon as the elevator doors opened, she grabbed her suitcase and walked out without acknowledging him.

The recently improved relationship suddenly became tense again.

Elizabeth was conflicted. After all, Michael had used his own body to cool her down last time, and she hadn't had the chance to thank him.

She entered her room, put down her suitcase, changed into slippers, and lay on the bed, feeling torn.

'Should I apologize to him? Was my attitude just now too harsh and impolite?'

Her bodyguard called. "Ms. Jones, I've parked the car."

"Okay, I'm already upstairs. You're staying next door. Just grab the room key from the front desk."

"Got it, Ms. Jones."

After hanging up, Elizabeth still felt uneasy and decided to call Michael.

When he answered, his voice was filled with joy. "Elizabeth."

Elizabeth felt a bit awkward and cleared her throat. "Um, Michael, would you like to have dinner together? I heard the food here is farm-fresh and really good."

Michael's voice was full of laughter. "Sure. See you in a bit."

After hanging up, Elizabeth found a white sundress and put it on. She touched up her makeup in the mirror, still wearing her hat.

When she opened the door, she saw Michael waiting outside.

He brightened up when he saw her in the dress.

Elizabeth was surprised. "You're so quick? Did you already unpack?"

"What?" Michael didn't dare tell the truth.

He was angry that Carter had taken his precious Pearl, so he flew over in a fit of rage. He hadn't expected the place to be fully booked.

So, after they got off the elevator, he had been waiting by her door.

He watched her lock the door and walked beside her, gently supporting her. "Where are we eating?"

Elizabeth was a bit dazed by his scent. "Let's have some local food. You can't easily find it in the city."

"Okay." Michael tentatively asked her, "After dinner, are you going to see Pearl?"

Elizabeth nodded. "They have a live broadcast during the day, so it's inconvenient."

They went to a restaurant recommended by the hotel owner and ordered some local specialties.

Although the flavors were unfamiliar, the ingredients were indeed fresh. The grilled fish, with its simple seasoning, had an excellent texture.

The restaurant owner smiled and explained to the out-of-town guests that the fish was freshly caught that day, and the vegetables were picked from the village gardens, ensuring absolute freshness.

After dinner, it was still early. Elizabeth sat on a bench outside the restaurant, resting her chin on her hand as she watched the fields bathed in the sunset.

The countryside was peaceful, the air was fresh, and there were no skyscrapers to block the view.

Elizabeth closed her eyes, stretched, and sighed contentedly, "The environment here is so nice. I really don't want to leave."

Michael sat beside her, unusually patient. "You like it here?"

He turned to look at her.

Elizabeth's entire body was bathed in the golden-red glow of the sunset. She had her eyes closed, her head slightly tilted back, lost in the tranquility of the countryside.

Her profile was so close that he could see the fine hairs on her face.

In that moment, the usually formidable Michael felt as if a soft feather had brushed his heart.

The vast world seemed to shrink, leaving only the two of them. Nothing else mattered.

As if guided by some unseen force, he leaned in and kissed her cheek.

Elizabeth, completely immersed in the moment, hadn't expected his move. She sat up straight and opened her eyes, looking at him with displeasure.

Michael instantly felt guilty. He had ruined the serene atmosphere with his impulsive action.

Fortunately, Elizabeth didn't scold him. She glanced at her watch, saying, "The live broadcast is almost over. I should go find Pearl."

Michael quickly stood up. "I'll go with you."

Elizabeth gave him a sidelong glance. "Mr. Thomas, in what capacity are you going to see Pearl?"
