Chapter 56 He Is a Murder
The Golden Plate Bistro.
Margaret and Samuel were having dinner when Samuel leaned in and asked, "Margaret, you know why I flew all the way from Atheria, right?"
Margaret sighed, "Are Mom and Dad on your case again to bring me back?"
Samuel nodded, "Yeah, you got it. You've been in Aurora Bay for over a decade and never come home. Don't you realize how much they miss you? They're getting old and want us around. You're their baby girl, and it breaks their hearts that you're not there."
Margaret took a sip of her wine, "Samuel, you know they just want me back because they don't approve of Michael. They think I can't win him over."
Samuel sighed, "I really regret introducing you to Michael back then. After all these years, you're still hung up on him. Is he really that perfect to you?"
Margaret put a piece of steak into her mouth and chewed it slowly. She looked up at Samuel, "Samuel, you've known him for years. Don't you see how amazing he is? To me, he'll always be the most dazzling person in the world."
Samuel downed his glass of wine and looked at her, "Margaret, it's not just Mom and Dad who disapprove. I don't think it's a good idea, either. Do you really know Michael? You think he's handsome, cool, capable, and has a high status. You're just attracted to his appearance. Do you really know the real Michael?"
Margaret looked at him, surprised.
"The real Michael? Samuel, I've been by his side for over a decade. How could I not know him? In all of Stellar Enterprises, no one knows him better than I do. Yet he still doesn't like me and prefers Elizabeth, whom he's only known for three months!" Margaret said indignantly.
Samuel looked at her meaningfully, "That's why I'm here to help you, isn't it?"
Margaret rolled her eyes and took another sip of wine, "But how do you explain investing $500 million in Elizabeth's company? You know she's competing with me for Michael, yet you help her! $500 million is no small amount. Why not give it to me? Elizabeth and I are enemies! Are you my brother or not? Do you even care about me?"
Samuel smirked and took a sip of wine, "Margaret, can't you see? By investing in Elizabeth's company and spending time with her, I'll make her fall for my charm. Then she'll break up with Michael, and he'll be yours."
Margaret turned her head, "Samuel, do you believe what you're saying? How many girlfriends have you had? Maybe you like Elizabeth and are using me as an excuse. I'm not buying it."
Samuel chuckled, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. "Margaret, relax. This time, I'm definitely on your side. Sure, Michael and I were classmates, but you're my sister. I can't just stand by and do nothing. You've been by his side since you were young, and every time I saw you cry over him, it tore me up inside. Not protecting you is my biggest failure as your brother."
Hearing Samuel's words, Margaret finally looked at him properly, her eyes slowly reddening. No matter how strong she was, she was still a young woman who needed care and family love.
Samuel's words hit her right in the feels. "Samuel, sometimes I really feel like I can't hold on anymore. But from the moment I first saw Michael, I fell hopelessly in love. He's so dazzling in the crowd. Compared to him, everyone else is nothing. In this lifetime, I won't love anyone else."
Samuel sighed, "Margaret, you're still young. Don't jump to conclusions. I know exactly what kind of person Michael is, which is also why I disapprove of your love for him. He killed his father back then!"
Samuel lowered his voice as he spoke.
Hearing this, Margaret trembled slightly, and she accidentally knocked over her wine glass. The red liquid flowed down the tablecloth and onto the restaurant's carpet.
"Samuel, you can't make such accusations without evidence. You can't just slander Michael," Margaret said, surprised.
Samuel sneered, "If I weren't sure, how could I tell you this? He said it himself. Do you think a patricide can make you happy? Aren't you afraid that Michael is a demon? If you end up with him, aren't you afraid he'll use violence and abuse you?"
Margaret was scandalized by the bombshell. She picked up the fallen wine glass. A waiter came over to replace the tablecloth, napkins, and wine glass, and poured her more wine.
After the waiter left, Samuel gently held Margaret's trembling hand and said softly, "Margaret, I'm your family. You've wasted enough time on Michael. It's not too late to pull back now. There are many good young men in Atheria waiting for you. Don't be stubborn."
Margaret picked up the wine glass and drank it up in one go. The wine turned bitter in her mouth. She said softly, "Samuel, let me think about it. I've loved him for so many years, I can't just let go."
Samuel said quietly, "I understand. I won't push you. Take your time to think it through. And don't worry about Elizabeth. You've wasted so much time on Michael, but he has no feelings for you and broke your heart so many times. Since I'm here, I must help you. Michael likes Elizabeth, right? I'll make sure to win Elizabeth over. I want Michael to experience the pain of losing the one he loves. I want him to taste all the pain you've suffered. Otherwise, he'll think the Taylor family are all pushovers!"
