Chapter 178 She Just Wanted to Deepen This Kiss
Elizabeth felt the kiss, but surprisingly, she wasn't grossed out.
The guy seemed super into it, treating her like she was the most precious thing ever.
He kissed her lips.
At first, it was just a soft peck.
His high nose brushed against Elizabeth's. She let out a low sound from her throat.
Struggling to breathe, she parted her lips slightly and felt his tongue slip in, gently exploring her mouth.
One of his big hands cradled the back of her head, while the other slid under her clothes, lifting her closer to him.
Suddenly, Elizabeth felt a rush of energy and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
She opened her sleepy eyes and saw him staring at her, looking totally shocked.
But her mind was foggy, and all she wanted was to deepen the kiss.
They made out passionately on the bed.
After a while, Elizabeth felt exhausted, her hands loosened their grip, and she turned away, curling up with the quilt to continue sleeping.
Michael, left hanging, stared at the still-sleeping Elizabeth, feeling utterly speechless.
He thought bitterly, this Elizabeth, really seduced him without even realizing it.
At the Unity Medical Center Emergency Department, Louis parked the car and rushed inside.
He ran to the nurse's station, asking where Elizabeth was.
The nurse checked and told him Elizabeth had already been discharged.
Louis's eyes widened. "Elizabeth's only been here for like two hours, how did she get discharged so fast?"
The nurse looked at the computer and said, "The system shows she's been discharged."
Louis took a deep breath. "Sorry, I lost my cool."
The nurse, seeing his politeness, replied, "It's okay, sir. I understand."
Louis continued, "Why was she admitted?"
The nurse checked Elizabeth's records. "She had low blood sugar, likely causing a hypoglycemic coma. She also had anemia, malnutrition, and overexertion."
Hearing this, Louis felt a wave of guilt.
Elizabeth had mentioned her company was just restarting, with tons of work every day.
And he had dumped Emily's unfinished tasks on her.
Even he couldn't solve those problems. He could only imagine how much time Elizabeth sacrificed, skipping meals and rest, to thoroughly research and memorize that treatment plan.
This led to her not eating and severely lacking sleep.
So she had hypoglycemia, malnutrition, and then fainted.
Louis suddenly remembered something and asked the nurse, "Did she get a glucose infusion?"
The nurse said, "Yes, sir."
Louis asked, "Did she wake up after the infusion and then leave?"
The nurse said, "Sorry, sir, I wasn't in the infusion room at the time. You can ask my colleagues there."
Since Elizabeth had been discharged, it meant she was out of danger.
So he didn't need to be in such a rush.
He could wait.
When he dialed her number, Elizabeth's phone was still turned off.
Louis frowned.
Logically, if Elizabeth had regained consciousness, she should have gone home directly and then checked her phone for missed calls and messages. She would have immediately noticed her phone was off and charged it.
But it was still off now.
Could it be that she hadn't woken up?
Then, who helped her with the discharge?
The owner of Elegant Eats said that when she went to the hospital, it was her friend who took her.
So, the discharge procedures were naturally handled by this "friend."
Who was this "friend"?
Where did this person take her?
Thinking of this, Louis immediately called Nancy, "Nancy, has Elizabeth come home?"
Nancy sounded puzzled. "No. Louis, haven't you found Elizabeth yet? Dean also called me just now. Elizabeth didn't go to the hotel banquet hall either. It's so late, where could she have gone? Could something have happened to her?"
As Nancy spoke, she began to choke up. Louis tried to comfort her. "It's late now, you should stay with the kids and sleep. I will find Elizabeth. Don't worry."
Louis hung up the phone.
Elizabeth hadn't gone home, nor to the banquet hall.
Her phone was still off.
It was very likely she hadn't woken up yet.
Louis had just returned to the country and hadn't had time to pay attention to her social circle.
So, he knew nothing about her friends.
He could only continue to investigate from the hospital.
Louis stepped forward and stopped a nurse who had just removed an IV from a patient.
Louis said, "My friend was brought in unconscious. She was receiving a glucose infusion in the IV room. But now, I can't find her."
The nurse said, "Sir, please tell me the patient's name."
Louis replied, "Elizabeth."
The nurse had a look of realization. "Elizabeth! She was discharged. Her family handled the discharge procedures and took her away."
Louis's pupils dilated. "What did you say? 'Took her away' means what? She didn't leave voluntarily?"
The nurse said, "She was still sleeping when she was discharged. Her family thought the hospital environment was noisy and not conducive to her rest, so they took her away. Yes, her family carried her out."
Louis didn't understand. "Family?"
As far as he knew, Elizabeth's only family in the country were Nancy and the kids. How could there be other family members?
