Chapter 176 He Remembers the Sweet Softness of Her Lips

When Sarah mentioned Elizabeth's name on the phone, Louis's head snapped up, and he leaned in closer to her.

He had no clue what Dean was saying on the other end.

Sarah looked really worried. "Dean, what time is it? Why are you still dealing with Michael's assistant, Daniel? Listen, Elizabeth hasn't shown up. I tried calling her, but her phone's off. I'm freaking out. Could something have happened to her? You said she was at Elegant Eats, right? It should only take 20 minutes to get here, but it's been an hour! She's still not here! Get over here, we need to figure this out!"

She hung up.

Louis frowned hard.

He pulled out his phone and looked up Elegant Eats on the map.

Yep, it was a 20-minute drive from here.

He found the number for Elegant Eats online and called.

"Hello, Elegant Eats. How can I help you?" someone answered.

"Hi, I'm trying to find out if a lady was at your restaurant about an hour ago," Louis said, rubbing his forehead, suddenly unsure how to ask. "A beautiful young woman, around 25, with long, slightly curly hair, tall and slim..."

Before he could finish, the person on the other end said, "About an hour ago, a young woman fainted at our entrance..."

Louis's heart raced. "How is she now? Do you know where she is?"

"The staff called an ambulance. Her friend came and followed the ambulance. They should be at the hospital emergency center," the person replied.

"Do you know which hospital?" Louis asked.

"Unity Medical Center," the person said.

"Thank you so much." Louis hung up and immediately drove to Unity Medical Center.

At Unity Medical Center's Emergency Center, Michael called a nurse to remove Elizabeth's IV.

"The patient needs more rest. Let her sleep here a bit longer before going home," the nurse reminded.

"Is rest all she needs? No other treatment?" Michael asked.

"That's the doctor's order. Her anemia and low blood sugar aren't too severe. We gave her a glucose solution. Her blood sugar should be up now. For anemia and malnutrition, she needs to eat more nutritious foods," the nurse explained.

"If her blood sugar is up, why hasn't she woken up?" Michael asked.

"Her brain waves show she's in deep sleep. She might be overworked and severely sleep-deprived," the nurse said.

"Got it, thanks," Michael let out a sigh of relief.

The infusion room was filled with beds, separated by blue curtains that did little to block out the noise.

Michael's ears were bombarded with sounds. He worried that Elizabeth could get a good rest here.

He grabbed Elizabeth's bag and slung it over his shoulder.

Then, he slipped his left hand under her neck and his right arm under her knees, lifting her up.

Michael carried Elizabeth out of the hospital. He went into the car and ordered the driver, "To the Thomas Villa."

The Rolls-Royce glided smoothly down the road.

Elizabeth slept soundly in the back seat, her eyes closed, breathing steady, completely unaware of what was happening.

Michael carried Elizabeth across the front yard and up to the main building's entrance.

Susan saw them coming and opened the living room door.

As Michael got closer, Susan realized the woman in his arms was Elizabeth.

Susan gasped. "Mr. Thomas, what happened to Elizabeth?" she asked, opening the guest room door.

Michael said softly, "Open my room's door."

Susan was taken aback but then realized the guest room hadn't been used in ages and wasn't suitable for resting.

Michael carried Elizabeth upstairs to his room and gently laid her on his large bed.

Despite all the movement, Elizabeth didn't stir.

Michael looked at her peaceful face and said to Susan, "Get the guest room ready. I'll sleep there tonight."

Susan nodded and went downstairs, wondering what had happened to Elizabeth. Why was she unconscious?

In the main bedroom on the second floor, Elizabeth slept soundly on the soft bed.

It was unclear if the doctors had added sedatives to her glucose solution at the hospital, but she was in such a deep sleep that no noise seemed to bother her.

Michael sat on the edge of the bed, watching her sleep quietly.

Elizabeth's eyes were closed, her nose slightly upturned, her mouth slightly open.

After sleeping for so long, her cheeks had a faint pink hue.

Michael couldn't resist. He reached out and gently stroked Elizabeth's hair.

Memories flooded his mind.

He remembered four years ago, his large hand running through her thick, seaweed-like hair.

He had seen her with her long hair cascading over the bedsheets, looking enchanting.

Michael swallowed. His fingers brushed Elizabeth's nose, her brow bone, her closed eyes, her delicate cheeks.

Finally, his fingers rested on Elizabeth's soft lips.

Michael wondered, in the past four years, had anyone kissed these lips?

He remembered her fragrant, delicate body.

He remembered the softness and sweetness of her red lips.

His right thumb stroked Elizabeth's lips back and forth.

Finally, he couldn't hold back. He placed his arms on either side of Elizabeth's body, leaned down, and moved closer to her lips.

At that moment, the door opened, and Eloise appeared.

She softly called, "Michael."

Michael felt as if he had been jolted awake from a dream.

He immediately sat up straight.

Elizabeth's face was fully exposed to Eloise.

Eloise saw Elizabeth lying on the bed and her expression changed as she walked over.
