Chapter 506 Abuse
Louis shook his head. "Elizabeth, you're overthinking this. You can vouch for Quinn, proving he's got full legal capacity, and he can exercise his rights."
Quinn chimed in, "Elizabeth, are you talking about the papers I signed with the lawyer today? The stuff Michael transferred to me? Don't sweat it, I'll give it all back to him when he needs it. I don't need any of it, and I don't get it anyway."
Elizabeth gently patted his hand. "Quinn, you don't need to worry about anything. We're already so grateful that you're willing to donate a kidney to Eloise. Not everyone can do that. Honestly, if it were me, I'd hesitate for a long time before donating a kidney to someone else. You're truly amazing."
Quinn gave a shy smile. "Elizabeth, you're giving me too much credit. You're making me blush."
Louis, driving, added, "I'm more and more convinced that Quinn and Eloise are twins. They're so alike—kind, pure, and selfless."
Finally, they arrived at the hospital where Eloise was staying.
The closer they got to the room, the more nervous Elizabeth became.
She hadn't seen Eloise in a long time. The thought of Eloise selflessly donating her blood to save Francis brought tears to Elizabeth's eyes. Her throat tightened, and her steps grew heavy.
Louis smiled at her. "Elizabeth, go on in. Eloise will be so happy to see you."
Elizabeth took a deep breath, gripped the door handle, and gently pushed the door open.
She finally saw Eloise, the person she had been longing to see.
She led Quinn to Eloise's bedside.
Eloise no longer looked vibrant and beautiful. Her body was swollen, her complexion sallow, and her eyes were tightly shut.
If it weren't for the steady beeping of the machines, there would be no sign of life.
Elizabeth quickly turned away, wiping her tears.
She brought Quinn closer to Eloise. "Eloise, look, this is Quinn, your real brother. He's here to save you."
But Eloise couldn't respond; she was still in a deep coma.
Louis stepped in. "Elizabeth, why don't you take Quinn to rest for a bit? I've spoken with the doctors, and they can start the surgery as soon as Quinn is ready. We just need him to be in the best condition."
Quinn shook his head. "No, Elizabeth, I don't need to rest. I have plenty of energy and can go into surgery anytime. Eloise doesn't look well; we shouldn't wait."
Elizabeth looked at Louis.
Louis hesitated. "Elizabeth, you're a doctor. You know there are pre-surgery preparations and checks that need to be done."
Elizabeth nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed. "You're right, Louis. I'm sorry, Quinn. I wasn't thinking straight. Let's get you admitted and through the pre-surgery checks. Once the doctors review everything, you'll need to fast and prepare for the surgery. It won't take long."
Quinn nodded obediently. "Okay, I'll do whatever you say."
Louis helped them with the admission process and got Quinn settled in his room. Medical staff came to check on Quinn.
Elizabeth was filled with a mix of worry and hope.
Louis tried to comfort her. "Elizabeth, I know you're worried about Michael thinking you took away his shares in Stellar Enterprises. Once Eloise recovers, we'll explain everything to him. He'll understand and forgive you."
Elizabeth gave a bitter smile. "I just hope he doesn't get too upset and relapse."
Elizabeth stayed by Quinn's side, peeling an apple for him.
"Quinn, just focus on getting better. Louis and I will take care of everything else."
Quinn looked at her calmly. "Elizabeth, can't you stay with me? Do you have other things to do?"
Elizabeth cut the apple into small pieces and handed one to Quinn with a toothpick.
"Quinn, my son is studying nearby, and I need to check on him. Also, Michael hasn't contacted me in a while, and I need to reach out to him. When Eloise wakes up, she'll be happy to see him, and it will help her recover faster."
Quinn nodded slightly. "I understand. Go ahead."
He picked up the apple and started eating it slowly.
Elizabeth stood up, suddenly remembering something. "Quinn, please don't transfer your shares in Stellar Enterprises to William and Anthony. Even though they're your blood relatives, you know how they treat you."
Quinn nodded. "I understand. Those shares were never really mine. When you need them, just take them back. No need to involve them."
"I'm worried that after your surgery, Anthony will come here and try to take you away."
Quinn's expression changed. He gripped the toothpick tightly, his fingers turning pale.
He asked quietly, "Elizabeth, can you hide me from them? I don't want to see them."
Elizabeth asked, "Did they mistreat you?"
Quinn nodded. "They made me take some medicine that made me sleep a lot and lose my appetite. They also drew my blood, leaving needle marks all over me."
Elizabeth's eyes widened in disbelief. "Anthony said they only drew your blood twice. Was he lying? Did they do it more often?"
Quinn lowered his eyes. "He said it was for my health, to get rid of toxins. But I knew it wasn't right. I just didn't have the strength to fight back."
Quinn rolled up his sleeves and pant legs, showing Elizabeth the needle marks.
