Chapter 347 Drugging

Margaret stepped out of the restroom and was surprised to see Matthew still waiting by the door. "Matthew, you're still here?"

Matthew turned and gave her a warm smile. "Yeah, I said I'd look out for you, didn't I? Can't just leave you with all these people around. If you need anything, just holler and I'll be right here."

Margaret felt a slight twinge of emotion but quickly composed herself. "Alright, Matthew. You should head back to the party. I'm going back too. Some of my girlfriends are waiting for me."

Matthew's eyes lit up at the mention of "girlfriends." He had a soft spot for beautiful women but always kept his interactions with them minimal in front of Margaret.

He quickly regained his composure. "Okay, I'll go find Daniel. Have a great evening!"

Margaret smiled at him. "You too, have a great night!"

Matthew felt content after their conversation. He knew Margaret had feelings for Michael, so he never pressured her to like him back.

He grabbed a glass of wine from a nearby table and headed to a dimly lit corner of the ballroom.

He had just stumbled upon Elizabeth's scandal and was in no mood to socialize. He felt bad for Michael and worried about how he would react if he found out.

Sitting in the corner, he sipped his wine and scanned the room for Michael. He hadn't returned yet.

Matthew knew Michael disliked these kinds of events. If he wasn't in the ballroom, he was probably in the restroom.

If Michael decided to leave, he would definitely let him know. He wouldn't just disappear without a word.

What Matthew didn't know was that at this very moment, Michael was being affected by the drug in the drink he had just consumed, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, Margaret was sipping her wine and listening to her friends gossip about celebrities, all the while searching for Michael.

He had just drunk that glass of champagne, and the drug should be taking effect by now. Where had he gone?

She hoped he hadn't run into Elizabeth. Margaret felt a surge of anxiety. She didn't want Michael to meet any other woman, especially Elizabeth.

Otherwise, all her efforts tonight would be in vain. She also wondered how things were progressing on Elizabeth's end.

She decided to call Daniel.

"Daniel."

"Ms. Taylor."

"I saw you and Mr. Thomas arrive, but the party just started and I haven't seen you since. Did you leave already?"

"No. Mr. Thomas suddenly felt unwell, so I'm waiting for him by the restroom."

Margaret immediately understood. She put on a concerned expression. "What's wrong with Mr. Thomas? Did he drink too much?"

Daniel didn't elaborate. "Maybe... Ms. Taylor, Mr. Thomas is coming out now. I have to go."

Margaret hung up, a smile playing on her lips, and headed towards the restroom.

She hadn't seen Daniel when she left the restroom earlier, so they must be at the other restroom.

She hurried over, her high heels clicking elegantly on the floor.

Michael had just splashed some water on his face, but the cold water did little to alleviate his discomfort. His face was flushed, his breathing heavy, and his eyes bloodshot.

Seeing him emerge, Daniel quickly moved to support him. "Mr. Thomas, let's get you out of here."

Michael forced himself to walk, but the sound of high heels behind him made him tense.

"Michael."

It was Margaret.

Michael instinctively didn't want to respond, but the drug in his system made the sound of a woman's voice a severe trigger. He was losing control of his body.

He was trying his best to restrain himself, not looking back at all, and through gritted teeth, he said to Daniel, "Get me out of here, quickly!"

Margaret caught up, slightly out of breath. She grabbed Michael's arm. "Michael, why didn't you wait for me?"

She was slightly sweaty from her quick walk, and her scent wafted into Michael's nose.

Normally, he would have recoiled from her touch, but now, it only intensified his desire.

They had reached the courtyard. Michael walked quickly, trying to maintain control.

Margaret deliberately held onto him, her voice tinged with a hint of complaint. "Michael, wait for me. I twisted my ankle walking too fast. It hurts. Can you take a look?"

Daniel couldn't help but interject. "Ms. Taylor, Mr. Thomas isn't feeling well. I need to get him to a doctor immediately."

Margaret shot Daniel a cold look. "Daniel, you know the relationship between Mr. Thomas and me, don't you?"

Daniel lowered his head, not daring to say more.

Margaret turned to Michael, her voice gentle. "Michael, can you wait with me on the second floor for the doctor? It's a bit cold out here, and I'm not dressed warmly."

Michael wanted to stay outside to cool off, but Margaret had already leaned most of her body against him. Her full breasts intentionally brushed against his arm.

Michael clenched his jaw, closed his eyes, and pushed her away forcefully. "Margaret, stay away from me!"

Margaret stumbled and fell to the ground. She looked up at him, eyes filled with disbelief. "Michael, why are you being so harsh to me?"

Tears welled up in her eyes as she stood up and continued to stand by him. "Michael, I'm just trying to help you. I heard Elizabeth knows some medical skills, right? You could ask her to check on you. I saw a man take her to a guest room on the second floor. Aren't you curious about what they're doing?"

Michael finally looked at her. "Elizabeth? Are you sure?"

Margaret nodded vigorously. "I'm sure! Matthew saw it too! She went to a guest room with a man. I don't know if they're still there."

Michael's mind was racing. He had seen Elizabeth at the party earlier, but then she disappeared.

Had she really gone to the second floor with a man? Dean wasn't with her. Who could it be? Louis? What were they doing?

Michael held his head, feeling a headache coming on. He whispered to Daniel, "Call Elizabeth. Find out where she is."

Daniel quickly took out his phone and dialed. The call went unanswered.

He frowned and tried again, but still no answer. He looked at Michael and shook his head. "No one's picking up."

He felt a gnawing unease, as if he were the one betraying Michael.

Silently, he prayed for Elizabeth.
