Chapter 312 Alienation

Calla could hear her own voice from earlier in Jennifer's office.

She was so mad she was grinding her teeth, making an audible noise.

Jennifer said, "Look, I'm not just walking away from that. My company's stock took a hit because of some bad press. And I didn't throw your money away. It was an investment! You know what an investment is, right? Investments come with risks, just like gambling. You gotta accept the consequences!"

Calla's voice was icy. "Jennifer, you've really pissed me off."

Jennifer feigned innocence. "Calla, that wasn't my intention. I just wanted to remind you that our lives and interests are tied together. Please don't threaten me every time something goes wrong."

Calla didn't want to listen to her anymore and angrily hung up the phone.

She thought bitterly, 'Jennifer keeps pushing my limits. One day, I'll show her through my actions that I'm right—those who cross me never end well.'

At Whispering Pines Estates, Pearl and Nolan were already lightly asleep with Eloise by their side.

Michael, with bloodshot eyes, was calmly making a phone call.

At first, he didn't know that Elizabeth had tangled with the Silver King. He thought Louis was just a victim of a regular kidnapping.

So, he was angry and hurt. He felt like anyone held a more important place in Elizabeth's heart than he did.

For a moment, he even considered not caring about Elizabeth's fate out of spite.

Wasn't she going to rescue Louis? Fine, let her go. After all, Dean was with her. What did he have to worry about?

But the opponent was the Silver King. The notorious Silver King of Valoria. The Silver King who committed all sorts of heinous crimes.

Michael deeply regretted his initial decision. He should have been there to face it with her, even if she kept pushing him away.

He called Sarah.

Sarah was already asleep and was groggily woken up, quite annoyed. "Michael, do you know what time it is?"

"Sarah, in a few minutes, I'll be leaving on a private jet. Please take care of Eloise and the kids."

Sarah was a bit confused but quickly agreed. "Okay. Are you going to save Elizabeth?"

"Yes. No one in this world can harm my woman."

Hearing this, Sarah instantly became alert and said, "Michael, I support you!"

Michael then contacted Dean.

"Dean, are you separated from Elizabeth? Did she go to meet Silver King alone?"

Dean sounded dejected. "As much as I hate to admit it, yes, that's true."

"Where are you now?"

"I'm at Elizabeth's villa in Valoria."

"Send me the address. I'll come find you."

Dean asked curiously. "You're coming? The earliest flight here won't arrive until tomorrow afternoon."

"I have a plane."

"Oh, right. I forgot you're a billionaire."

Elizabeth was led by the group of men in black, blindfolded the entire way. They only removed the blindfold after she got out of the car.

She was pushed into a grand and magnificent castle. She had no interest in admiring the mansion and was quickly brought to the main hall.

A slightly aged but still powerful voice spoke. "Ms. Jones is my esteemed guest. Who allowed you to treat her so rudely?"

Elizabeth looked towards the main seat, where a man with gray hair was sitting.

The man was dressed in white, with a gaunt face but a fierce expression, clearly not a kind person.

Elizabeth guessed that this man must be Silver King.

The men in black released Elizabeth and silently retreated.

Silver King spoke again. "Ms. Jones, you must be tired from your journey. Someone, help Ms. Jones change her clothes."

Two women dressed as maids approached. "Ms. Jones, please allow us to help you change." One of them held a tray with a white dress on it.

Elizabeth took a step back. "I'll do it myself." She suspected these women were sent by Silver King to search her.

The maids insisted. "Ms. Jones, let us handle it."

They started to undress Elizabeth.

Elizabeth was horrified. They were going to forcibly change her clothes right here? This was beyond disrespectful!

"Sir, is this how you treat your guests?" Elizabeth shouted angrily.

Silver King waved his hand, and the maids quietly retreated.

Silver King descended from the platform and approached Elizabeth. "Ms. Jones, I apologize for inviting you in such a brusque manner. However, someone told me that if anyone in this world could cure my ailment, it would be Professor Emily. Unfortunately, Ms. Johnson passed away young, and I no longer have the chance to find her."

"But recently, someone provided me with a clue, saying that you're Ms. Johnson's final and most important disciple, highly skilled in medicine, and capable of curing me. So, I went to great lengths to bring you here."

Elizabeth scoffed. "You call this 'inviting'?"

Silver King didn't get angry. "I apologize for offending you, Ms. Jones."

Elizabeth said, "I don't believe Louis told you. He wouldn't betray me."

Silver King regarded Elizabeth with more respect and explained. "Ms. Jones, you know Louis well. He didn't provide any information about you. My subordinates used various methods to threaten and intimidate him, but it was useless. He refused to tell me who Emily's final and most important disciple was. I had no choice."

Elizabeth stared at him, saying nothing.

Silver King continued, "Ms. Jones, it seems you've made enemies in Celestria. Someone betrayed you. This person told me that Louis is your weakness. As long as I imprisoned Louis, you would come to me. It appears this person was right. You came without hesitation, not wasting a moment."

Elizabeth fearlessly met his gaze. "You could have just called me. Why harm Louis?"

Silver King looked helpless. "I had no choice. My subordinates pressured him to reveal Emily's final and most important disciple, but he wouldn't tell me. I was desperate."

Elizabeth was a bit angry. "Don't you have other informants? Didn't that person know it was me? Why didn't they tell you from the start? Instead, they waited until you beat Louis before revealing it."

"Silver King, haven't you considered that this person is using you as a weapon? They likely have a personal vendetta against Louis and are using you to eliminate him. That person is probably gloating right now. They brought down Louis without lifting a finger."

"Silver King, forgive my boldness, but did you also pay that person a hefty reward?"
