Chapter 157 Is This What Heartache Feels Like?

Daniel turned his face away, feeling embarrassed when he heard Dean's words.

He had indeed planned to get Dean drunk to get some info out of him.

The night they spent together at the hotel? Total accident.

He never thought things would go that far.

Both of them were wasted that night.

And honestly, he couldn't blame Dwayne either.

Dwayne had good intentions, sending them to the hotel. He couldn't just leave them at the bar all night. But why couldn't he book two beds? Instead, he had reserved a room with a king-size bed.

Now it was a mess; he couldn't explain it. After all, Dean knew he and Dwayne were tight. Would Dean think he told Dwayne to book a room with a king-sized bed for them?

He really couldn't explain it.

He couldn't even figure out who took advantage of whom that night.

Daniel's mind was all over the place.

At that moment, Dean still had him pinned down. Daniel coughed lightly and gently pushed Dean's arm. "Dean, you should move. If someone sees us like this, it won't be good."

Dean was still mad, but he listened to Daniel and stood up.

He leaned against Daniel's desk, then swung his long leg over and sat right on the desk. His right arm propped on the desk, eyes locked on Daniel.

Daniel thought this wasn't much different from before.

Dean said, "Daniel, tell me. Are you feeling guilty about something?"

Daniel awkwardly lowered his head. "I'm sorry. That night, I did intentionally get you drunk. I apologize."

His face turned bright red, his lips pressed into a tight line, and his fingers nervously fiddled with a pen.

It was clear he didn't want to do it.

Dean recalled some bits from that night.

He remembered Daniel in his arms, looking at him with hazy eyes, his clear eyes glistening.

Their bodies were tightly pressed against each other, and their body heat quickly rising.

Thinking of this, and realizing that Daniel had intentionally deceived him, Dean straightened up and walked toward the door.

His usually somewhat tall and flamboyant figure now seemed a bit desolate

He said in a low voice, "I can't tolerate deception. Daniel, let's just forget we ever met."

After saying this, he walked towards the door.

Daniel sat in his office chair, watching Dean's figure gradually disappear from his sight.

The flush on his face had faded, replaced by a redness in his eyes.

Watching Dean leave without hesitation, his heart suddenly ached.

Daniel raised his hand to cover his chest.

He thought, 'Is this what heartache feels like?'

He had never felt this way before.

He shook his head, trying to shake off the sudden thought. No! Impossible! He couldn't have feelings for Dean.

Daniel stood up and ran to the water cooler.

He filled a large cup with ice water and gulped it down.

The coolness of the ice water brought him back to his senses.

He went back to work.

He comforted himself, 'Yeah, this is just a small episode. It isn't important in my life. I'll forget it soon.'

After leaving Stellar Enterprises, Dean didn't go back to the Jones Group.

Lunchtime wasn't really a good time for drinking, but he really needed someone to have a drink with.

However, he didn't know whom to call. Even if he found someone, he worried they might have ulterior motives, just like Daniel. In the end, he decided to drink alone. After some thought, he pushed open the door of a restaurant.

He still had work in the afternoon, so he couldn't get too drunk. Otherwise, Elizabeth would worry about him.

He ordered a few dishes and a bottle of wine.

The wine burned a fiery trail down his throat, bringing tears to his eyes.

He reached out and wiped his face, trying to calm down.

Suddenly, he remembered something important, took out his phone, and called Nolan.

Nolan always had his smartwatch on him.

The call was quickly answered.

"Nolan," Dean's voice was hoarse.

Nolan could tell something was off. "Dean, you okay? Not in the mood?"

Dean sneered. "Are you kidding? Do I ever get in a bad mood? I just had a drink. This wine is strong. My throat's a bit hoarse."

Nolan patiently asked, "So, why'd you call me?"

Dean said, "Michael's probably got his sights set on you. He thinks you're the hacker. This morning, he went to Elizabeth's company to confront her. But don't worry too much. They don't have any evidence yet. Elizabeth will protect you. But I think she might take your computer. Just giving you a heads-up. Be prepared."

Nolan replied, "Thanks for the warning, Dean. I'll move up my plans."

In the evening, Nancy brought the kids home.

Elizabeth went to Nolan's room.

She sat across from him, looking serious.

Nolan put down his building blocks and looked at her. "Mom, do you need to talk to me?"

Elizabeth sighed. "Nolan, give me your laptop."

Nolan took his laptop out of his backpack and handed it to her.

Elizabeth placed it on the desk. "Nolan, did you hack into Michael's company network?"

Nolan looked at her and nodded. "Did he tattle on me?"

Elizabeth said, "He's gone back to gather evidence."

Nolan said, "Is he going to sue me? I'm only four years old. I can't be held criminally responsible."

Elizabeth said, "But parents can be held accountable. Nolan, I'm your guardian. I'm responsible for supervising you. Dean taught you computer skills, not to cause trouble, but to give you a skill you're interested in. You're four years old, but you won't be four forever. You'll grow up. Someone will surpass your skills and expose what you've done. You can't rely on luck."

She stood up and picked up Nolan's laptop. "I'll keep this for a while. When you realize your mistake, I'll give it back to you."

At 7 PM, Calla was about to have dinner when she received a message on her phone.

It was from Michael.

Michael rarely sent her messages. If he had something to say, he would call.

Michael: [Tonight at ten, Serenity Haven Hotel, Room V809. I'll be waiting for you.]

After reading the message, Calla was overjoyed.

Michael, who usually seemed so stiff, like an emotionless block of wood.

Especially when he was alone with her, he was particularly reserved.

What was up with him today? Suddenly being so enthusiastic about inviting her out.

Could it be that he didn't want to take their relationship further at his place, so he chose a hotel instead?
