Chapter 222 Dispute

Eloise hung her head low.

Michael held her tight, his voice filled with excitement, "Eloise, tell me! When did Elizabeth treat you? Was it that time you went missing at Global Horizons International School?"

Other than that incident, Eloise was always with a nanny and bodyguards, under constant surveillance. Elizabeth had no chance to get to her.

Back then, Nolan had hacked into the surveillance system at Global Horizons International School. It was during that time Eloise disappeared.

Hearing Michael's question, Eloise nodded.

She looked at Michael, worry etched on her face. "Michael, are you mad at me?"

Michael tried to keep his anger in check. "No."

Eloise's worry deepened. "Then, are you mad at Elizabeth?"

Michael didn't respond. He stood up from the sofa. "Eloise, change your clothes. We're going to Whispering Pines Estates."

The driver took Michael and Eloise to Whispering Pines Estates.

Elizabeth was building blocks with the kids when she heard the doorbell ring.

Just as she was about to get up, Dean pressed her shoulder, keeping her seated. "I'll check. Who could be here so late?"

Dean saw Michael and Eloise on the screen.

"Elizabeth, it's your ex-husband and that woman," he said.

Elizabeth stood up. "It's so late; Michael showing up can't be good. Which woman are you talking about?"

When Elizabeth saw Eloise and their expressions, she already had a hunch that Michael was there. "Dean, let them in."

Dean said, "Look at Michael; he looks like he's ready for a fight. So intimidating!"

Outside, Michael asked Eloise, "Eloise, have you been here before?"

Eloise nodded slightly.

The door opened, and Michael pulled Eloise through the yard and into the living room.

Eloise looked at Elizabeth timidly, clutching her clothes tightly, her eyes full of guilt.

Michael's face was cold. "Elizabeth, when Eloise went missing from Global Horizons International School and I offered a reward online with no news, was she at your house?"

Elizabeth had already sent the kids to their rooms, with Nancy accompanying them.

She looked at him fearlessly and replied, "Yes."

Michael didn't expect her to admit it so quickly and bluntly.

He was so angry his chest heaved, and he growled at her, "You knew I couldn't find Eloise and was going crazy with worry! Why did you hide her and not tell me?"

Seeing him so frantic, Elizabeth got angry too. She remembered when she was debating whether to tell him, he called and had a huge argument with her over the price of the Jones Group building. She was so mad she deliberately didn't tell him to make him worry more.

Later, Eloise had a fever in the middle of the night, and Elizabeth was busy taking care of her. During that time, Elizabeth hesitated about telling Michael that Eloise was at Whispering Pines Estates.

But Elizabeth worried Michael would blame her for not taking good care of Eloise, causing her to get a fever.

Later, Elizabeth took Eloise to the hospital for surgery.

Now, Elizabeth looked at Michael standing in front of her, his face filled with anger as if he was ready to devour her.

Elizabeth became displeased and retorted, "Yes! I did it on purpose! I brought her here! I hid her in my house! I wanted to see who this woman you've been thinking about for so many years is! How could I have known, Michael, that you would be so perverted? Hiding a woman who is like an idiot for so many years!"

As soon as the words left her mouth, Elizabeth regretted it.

The mistakes were all Michael's. What fault did Eloise have?

Eloise was a low-intelligence person with no cognitive ability. Michael hiding her was probably not her will.

Besides, she had known Michael long before Elizabeth married him, and she was innocent.

Elizabeth wished she could bite off her tongue. But the words were already out and couldn't be taken back.

Upstairs, Eloise sat opposite Pearl and Nolan with her head down.

Elizabeth's voice was so loud that Pearl and Nolan, sitting opposite Eloise, heard it clearly.

Feeling uneasy and apologetic, Pearl, who had always liked Eloise, stepped forward and held her hand. "Eloise, don't take my mom's words to heart. She said it to anger Michael. She definitely didn't mean it."

Eloise looked up at Pearl, then at Pearl's hand holding hers.

Pearl was holding her hand, which meant Pearl was willing to play with her again, right? She smiled happily.

She shook her head at Pearl. "I'm not. I really am an idiot. Elizabeth wasn't wrong."

Hearing this, Pearl felt even more guilty.

She stepped forward and gently hugged Eloise. "Michael said those things about my mom, so she probably didn't know how to respond and said that. Please don't take it to heart."

Eloise's expression didn't seem affected by Elizabeth's words.

Her eyes were bright, and she smiled at Pearl.

Nolan felt uncomfortable and suddenly regretted being so cold to Eloise before.

Downstairs, it suddenly became quiet.

Michael and Elizabeth were angrily staring at each other.

Michael looked hurt. "Elizabeth, we're already divorced. Why do you still target Eloise? The mistakes are all mine. Why hurt her? I never thought you could be so malicious! I really misjudged you!"

Hearing this, Elizabeth was so angry she wanted to slap Michael.

She turned away, not wanting to see his infuriating face.

She pointed to the door. "Michael, take your woman and get out of my house! You're never welcome here again!"

Michael's eyes looked like they were on fire.

He shouted, "Eloise. We're leaving!"

Eloise heard Michael's shout and hurried downstairs.

She reached the living room, about to say something to Elizabeth, but Elizabeth kept her back to them.

Michael pulled the hesitant Eloise away. "Let's go."

Eloise, being dragged by Michael, kept looking back as they walked out the door.

Hearing the front door slam shut, Elizabeth suddenly felt deflated.

She retreated to her bedroom and collapsed onto the bed. Her emotions were a whirlwind of anger and guilt.

Michael had confronted her with false accusations and a terrible attitude, which infuriated her. In a fit of rage, she had called Eloise an idiot, undoubtedly hurting her feelings.

Now, she felt immense guilt.

Torn inside, Elizabeth cried in frustration.

Dean, worried about her, knocked and came in.

He sat by her bed and patted her shoulder. "Elizabeth."

Elizabeth continued to cry softly under the covers.

Seeing Michael and Eloise leave, Pearl and Nolan emerged from their room and headed to Elizabeth's.

Pearl gently leaned on Elizabeth. "Mom, are you sad?"

Elizabeth sat up and hugged Pearl. "I regret saying that about Eloise."
