Chapter 144 Michael Still Wants to Entangle with Three Women at the Same Time
Michael was so mad at her words that his eyes practically turned red. "So you really did cheat on me during our marriage."
Elizabeth was fuming at his accusation. "When did I ever say I cheated? When did I ever say I had a boyfriend? When did I ever admit to living with someone else? Michael, stop making stuff up!"
Hearing Elizabeth's words, Michael suddenly felt a bit relieved. What did she mean by that? She didn't have a boyfriend? Dean wasn't her boyfriend at all?
Elizabeth had no patience left to stay in the room with him any longer. "Michael, stop dwelling on the past. We're already divorced. You have a girlfriend now. Enjoy your life with your girlfriend and lovers. Stop messing with my life, okay? I've worked hard to move on and it would be best for both of us to not have contact."
Michael's phone rang, and Elizabeth glanced at it, seeing it was Calla.
Elizabeth felt there was no point in staying. Besides, Nolan was waiting for her to go home together.
Elizabeth lifted her foot and walked towards the door again.
Michael answered the phone, and then, with his long legs, he quickly blocked the door as Elizabeth was about to leave.
She tried to open the door.
Michael looked at her and deliberately blocked the way.
Elizabeth stared at him in disbelief.
She pushed hard, but Michael, stronger than she, didn't move an inch.
Elizabeth got angry and stomped on his foot with the heel of her high heel.
Michael's face twisted in pain.
He grabbed Elizabeth's arm and mouthed, "Don't go!"
Michael continued the call, his eyes on Elizabeth. "Dr. Griffin."
Elizabeth, held in his arms, rolled her eyes at him.
They were so close that Calla's voice from the phone was clear to Elizabeth.
Calla's gentle voice asked, "Michael, where are you?"
Michael suddenly remembered he had promised to celebrate Calla's birthday tonight.
Calla was already at the reserved restaurant, waiting for him. "Michael, are you done? Should we eat first or cut the cake?"
Elizabeth clearly heard Calla's words and thought Michael was truly a pervert.
He held her in his arms, talking to Calla on the phone, with Eloise next door.
She mouthed silently to Michael, "Let me go!"
Michael, holding Elizabeth, said into the phone, "Sorry. I'm still at Global Horizons International School. There's an issue with Eloise that I haven't resolved yet."
Calla's gentle voice replied, "It's okay, there's still time. I'll wait for you."
Michael frowned. "Dr. Griffin, don't wait for me. I don't know when I'll be done here."
Calla's disappointed voice came through, "Michael, but you promised to spend my birthday with me tonight."
Michael's voice was devoid of warmth. "I said, Dr. Griffin, I'm very sorry, but I can't make it tonight. That's it. Goodbye!"
Without a second's hesitation, Michael hung up the phone.
Elizabeth gave him a big eye roll. "Bad man."
She didn't expect Michael to be so impatient with Calla, nor did she realize he was quite loyal.
In his heart, the most important person had always been Eloise.
Thinking of this, Elizabeth suddenly felt a bit sad.
To Michael, Calla was just a tool to treat his beloved Eloise. Elizabeth was just a pawn Mary found to have his children. How could he possibly have feelings for someone treated like an object? No one could compare to his Eloise.
Elizabeth suddenly felt it was all meaningless.
Michael hung up the phone and finally could talk to Elizabeth properly. "Stay away from that man. He doesn't look like a good person. Don't let yourself get fooled."
Elizabeth looked at him coldly. "He's not a good person? And you are?"
Michael sensed Elizabeth's change in mood. At first, she was like a cat with its fur standing on end. Now, she was like a hedgehog curled up, pointing all her quills at him. What was going on? Was she unhappy seeing him talk to Calla?
Outside the room, Nolan and Eloise couldn't hear anything and gave up eavesdropping.
Eloise sneaked a look at Nolan, who was still angry. She thought, 'Was Michael giving him trouble? Because he took me away, so Michael was angry at him?'
Eloise felt it was all her fault. She gently tugged Nolan's sleeve. "Nolan, I'm sorry. It's all my fault."
Nolan looked at her coldly, harshly pulling his sleeve out of her hand. He thought, 'As expected, you admitted it was your fault that Michael and Mom divorced. You bad woman.'
He stood up, moving far away from her, leaving her standing alone in the silence of his anger. Eloise lowered her head in sadness, on the verge of tears again.
Nolan said in disgust, "I didn't do anything to you. Someone's gonna blame me for making you cry again."
Hearing this, Eloise held back her tears. She didn't know what to do to make up for her mistakes. She really liked Nolan and Elizabeth. The idea of losing them as friends, especially kind-hearted Pearl, was unbearable.
In this world, she had so few people who were truly good to her; she couldn't afford to lose any more friends. She felt relaxed and at home at Elizabeth's place, a feeling she missed immensely.
In the room, Michael and Elizabeth were still at a standoff. Michael looked at Elizabeth's cold demeanor and sighed. He opened the photo album on his phone, enlarged a photo, and showed it to Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, do you still dare to say this isn't you in the photo? You're holding Nolan's hand. What else is there to deny?"
Elizabeth looked at him coldly, not speaking.
Michael continued to press. "And this girl next to you? She looks about Nolan's age. Did you adopt her too?"
Elizabeth answered. "Yes!"
Michael couldn't believe it and asked Elizabeth, "You adopted two kids at once? Can you take care of them? Do you love kids that much? Are you planning to open a daycare at home?"
Elizabeth glared at him. "Someone as cold-hearted as you would never know how adorable kids are."
She didn't want to waste any more time with him. She pushed him aside, opened the door, and walked out. It was late. Nolan hadn't had dinner yet. She needed to take him home.
This time, Michael didn't stop her. He called Eloise and followed Elizabeth and Nolan downstairs and out of Global Horizons International School.
