Chapter 117 Elizabeth Divorced Because of Eloise
Nolan shook his head hard, trying to shake off those awful thoughts.
No way. Elizabeth would never do something like that. Maybe this Michael guy forced her into it.
But why was Elizabeth so scared to see him? Just spotting his car made her freak out.
Had she been married all these years? Did she just divorce Michael today?
Why'd they get married in the first place? And why'd they split up? Why didn't Elizabeth ever tell them who their dad was?
Nolan's mind was spinning with questions.
He muttered to himself, "Looks like Mom's not gonna spill the beans. Guess I'll have to dig up the answers myself."
He heard footsteps getting closer.
Then came a man's voice, deep and smooth. "I want you to find Eloise, no matter what, and fast."
Nolan thought, 'He knows Eloise? Is he here for her? Did he divorce Mom because of Eloise, an intellectually disabled woman?'
Nolan cursed Michael in his head, 'Michael, you jerk! You don't even spare Eloise! Worse than Anthony! No wonder Mom wanted out! She should've left you sooner!'
Then, the principal's voice came through, "Mr. Thomas, all the school's surveillance systems have been hacked. This hacker broke into everything so quickly, they must be really good."
Michael said coldly, "I don't care how good they are, find them! I need to find Eloise! Lock down the campus now. No one in or out. I want to see who’s behind this!"
The principal replied, "Mr. Thomas, don't worry, we'll keep an eye on security and do a thorough search. Plus, we have a top-notch global hacker team. We'll find them."
Nolan heard them getting closer. He quickly packed his computer, stood up, and grabbed his water bottle, unscrewing the lid.
He pulled down his hat brim and walked past Michael and the others, head down.
As he passed Michael, he pretended to bump into him.
The water bottle tilted, spilling water on Michael's pant leg.
The sudden cold made Michael pause.
He turned to look at the departing Nolan.
Nolan also turned to look back at him.
Even with the hat hiding his eyes, Michael knew Nolan was trying to provoke him.
To Michael, these antics were just childish.
The principal quickly apologized, "Mr. Thomas, I'm really sorry. He didn't mean it. He's only been here a few days and doesn't know you yet."
When Michael heard Nolan was from Global Horizons International School, he realized he couldn't judge him by normal standards.
Michael thought about how Nolan, like Eloise, must have endured the strange looks from others and didn't want to hold it against him.
Nolan and Eloise were both pitiful. They didn't receive love from their families and had to face ridicule and bullying from others in society.
Michael glanced at Nolan's back, sighed lightly, and turned to leave.
Elizabeth's villa.
Elizabeth sat on the couch, looking at Eloise, who was sitting on the opposite couch, with an extremely complex expression.
Eloise looked up and smiled at her in an attempt to be endearing.
Elizabeth didn't know what expression to respond with. She didn't know how to face Eloise. She had only seen her photos in Michael's album before.
Elizabeth never expected to see Eloise in her own home.
She tentatively asked Eloise, "Is your name Eloise?"
Eloise nodded obediently at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth asked again, "Eloise, do you remember Michael?"
Eloise's expression showed a hint of fear.
Eloise thought, 'I can't admit to knowing Michael, otherwise, she'll send me back to Global Horizons International School. Then someone will open my head and take out my brain. I'll be doomed.'
Eloise made up her mind and shook her head.
Elizabeth held her forehead. What a situation! She and Michael divorced because of Eloise.
Now, if Michael knew that Eloise was missing, he would undoubtedly be frantically searching for her. However, Eloise had no recollection of Michael.
Pearl and Nolan were out of school in the afternoon.
Nancy picked up Pearl and took her home first.
Walking on the way home, Nancy held Pearl's hand.
Pearl skipped along the path in the neighborhood.
Nancy carefully chose her words, "Pearl, I need to tell you, we have a guest at home."
Pearl paused for a moment and looked at Nancy curiously. "What's so special about having a guest at home?"
Nancy struggled to speak, "This guest is a bit different from us. She looks like an adult, but she thinks she's a child. So when you talk to her, just talk to her like you would with other kids in kindergarten."
Nancy pointed to her head. "Her mind is different from ours."
Pearl tilted her head, thinking for a long time, but couldn't imagine what this special guest would be like. Like an alien on TV?
They arrived home. Pearl immediately saw Eloise sitting on the couch.
Eloise also saw Pearl standing at the door.
She skipped over and smiled at Pearl, "Hello."
Pearl ran to Eloise's side, smiling and taking her hand. "Oh my, you're so pretty!"
Pearl understood from Eloise's actions that she was the special person Nancy had mentioned.
Pearl thought to herself, 'She really thinks she's still a child, even younger than me. So can I take care of her like a child?'
Elizabeth glanced at Eloise. She noticed that Eloise looked at Pearl with no guard, only friendliness. It seemed Eloise considered Pearl a friend.
Pearl took Eloise's hand and brought her to Elizabeth. "Mom, can I take her to my room to play?"
Elizabeth nodded.
Pearl cheered happily. She usually didn't play with other kids her age. She took Eloise to her room.
Elizabeth was still a bit worried. After Pearl and Eloise entered the room, Elizabeth quietly went upstairs. She stood at Pearl's door, peeking inside. Pearl and Eloise were playing games.
