Chapter 338 Calling Others "Dad"

Nolan said seriously, "After summer break, Mom's sending me to the gifted program at the international school. I already passed the entrance exam."

Dean's jaw dropped. "No way, Nolan! That's awesome!"

He gave Nolan a thumbs-up.

Nolan shrugged. "Don't make a big deal out of it. I know you're smart too."

Dean ruffled Nolan's hair. "Go for it, man. I got things covered here."

Nolan opened the door and left.

Dean sat down at his computer, continuing to browse the dark web. He had a gut feeling that the person responsible for Calla's blindness was Octavia.

He had seen Octavia before. He believed in coincidences. Two unrelated people could naturally look alike.

But this Octavia definitely wasn't born with that face. There were obvious signs of plastic surgery on her face.

How could it be such a coincidence? She just happened to be Margaret's cousin.

Why had he never heard of Margaret having such a beautiful cousin before?

If she had always looked like this, why didn't Margaret mention that Elizabeth looked like her cousin when they first met?

Everyone in Aurora Bay knew Margaret had always been infatuated with Michael.

It was obvious this was part of their scheme.

He had to uncover the truth for Elizabeth.

Downstairs, Elizabeth sat on the couch, watching Pearl and Nolan play chess.

The phone rang. Elizabeth glanced at it; it was Carter. She quickly answered with a smile, "Hey, Carter."

Carter sounded cheerful. "Elizabeth, you picked up so fast."

Elizabeth smiled. "The phone was right next to me. What's up, Carter?"

Carter's voice had a hint of hesitation. "Well, Elizabeth, I've been invited to be a guest on a reality TV show."

"Do you want to go?"

"Yeah."

"Carter, your health has improved a lot. You can definitely participate as long as the filming schedule isn't too long."

Carter hesitated. "Actually, Elizabeth, I have a favor to ask."

Elizabeth was curious. "What is it? Does it involve me?"

Carter hesitated. "Elizabeth, the show is a parent-child activity. Each guest needs to bring a child. I asked the director, and he said the guests can bring other people's kids to experience being a parent."

Elizabeth understood. "You want to take Pearl and Nolan on the show? Nolan might not have time; he's going to camp."

Carter paused, then explained, "I want to take Pearl. She mentioned wanting to be on TV."

Elizabeth thought for a moment. "Okay, I'll ask her."

Carter was overjoyed. "That's great! Thank you for trusting me, Elizabeth."

Elizabeth smiled. "Don't thank me yet. Let me ask Pearl first."

"Okay, I'll wait for your good news."

After Pearl and Nolan finished their chess game, Elizabeth called Pearl over and seriously asked if she wanted to go on the show with Carter.

Pearl was excited. "Mom, can I call Mr. McGinnis?"

Elizabeth handed her the phone. "Of course."

Pearl cheered and took the phone to her room.

Downstairs, Elizabeth shook her head with a smile. Pearl was so young and already had secrets.

Pearl came back down after the call and handed the phone back to Elizabeth. "Mom, I talked to Mr. McGinnis. He'll pick me up."

Elizabeth stroked her hair. "Looks like your summer's gonna be pretty exciting."

Pearl hugged her gently. "I'll miss spending every day with you." She kissed Elizabeth's belly. "And chatting with my little sibling."

Elizabeth gently patted her back. "It's okay. Carter will take good care of you. The show is live, so you might be busy during the day. Call me at night if you can, and we'll video chat. I'll come visit you too."

Before Pearl joined the show, Nolan's camp started.

Dean drove Elizabeth and Pearl to drop Nolan off at the meeting point.

Nolan waved goodbye confidently.

Elizabeth felt a pang of sadness. This was the first time Nolan would be away from her for so long—twenty whole days.

But attending camp had always been Nolan's dream. She supported him.

'Children always grow up, and one day, they will leave their mother's side to embrace the wider world.' Elizabeth thought.

Nolan was more mature than other kids his age. He craved independence and freedom earlier than most.

A few days later, Carter came to take Pearl to the show.

Elizabeth helped her pack a big suitcase with her favorite clothes and her teddy bear she hugged every night to sleep.

Pearl was curious about the new adventure.

Daniel heard from Dean about Pearl joining the reality show and immediately told Michael.

Michael, who never watched reality TV, turned on the entertainment channel.

Compared to Nolan, who always gave him attitude, Michael preferred Pearl.

Pearl looked so much like Elizabeth, with a sweet smile and dimples.

He wondered when Elizabeth would let him openly acknowledge his kids.

He couldn't wait to hear Pearl call him "Dad."

As he thought about this, he saw sweet Pearl calling Carter "Dad" on the show.

The show was filmed in a picturesque village by the mountains and water.

Pearl followed Carter, picking mushrooms and catching fish, having a blast.

As requested by the production team, Pearl called Carter "Dad" throughout the show.

She had a good impression of the handsome and polite Carter. She wished he could be her dad. After all, Michael always made her mom cry.

TV said men who made women cry weren't good men.

Good men should be like Carter, considerate and emotionally supportive.

"Dad, look, I found another mushroom!"

Carter immediately stood up and gave her a thumbs-up. "Great job, Pearl!"

"Dad, look, I caught a fish!"

Carter quickly waded over. "Amazing, Pearl! This fish is huge!"

On the show, Carter and Pearl played the loving father-daughter duo.

In the master bedroom of the Thomas Mansion, Michael watched the live broadcast, fuming with anger, wanting to smash his phone.

Carter was too much! Pearl wasn't his daughter. How dare he make her call him "Dad"?

Michael crushed his cigarette into powder.
