Chapter 88 Absolutely Must Not Tell Him

Then Elizabeth sent the restaurant address to Sarah.

At 6:00 PM, the three of them sat down for dinner.

Sarah couldn't wait and asked, "Elizabeth, spill the beans, what's the good news?"

Elizabeth said, "Do you remember Ms. Johnson?"

"Of course. A big name in the medical field, a professor at Valoria, your idol!" Sarah replied.

David gave Elizabeth a deep look.

Elizabeth didn't notice his gaze. She smiled and said to Sarah, "I applied for her graduate program and got accepted. They've invited me to join."

"Wow, that's really great news! Elizabeth, you're amazing! Ms. Johnson's graduate program has super high standards! You are amazing!" Sarah said jauntily.

"Alright, remember you asked me what wish I made on the mountain? Now you can know it, my wish has come true," Elizabeth said.

"Then we must have a feast." Sarah raised her glass to her.

The three of them clinked glasses.

Elizabeth's glass was filled with juice.

Sarah knew she didn't drink alcohol, so she didn't push her.

David, who had been silent, suddenly asked, "Elizabeth, if you're going to Ms. Johnson's graduate program, does that mean you'll be going abroad?"

Elizabeth's eyes dimmed, "Yes, I'll be abroad for at least four years."

"Have you told Michael about this?" David asked.

"Not yet. David, I need your help with something," Elizabeth said.

"You want me to keep it a secret, right?" David asked.

"Yes. I don't want Michael to know about this. He's still recovering, and I don't want to disturb him or mess up his plans. Please don't tell him. Anyway, we're going to get divorced eventually. When that happens, it won't matter where I go," Elizabeth said.

David swallowed a sip of his drink, looking extremely bitter, and nodded. "Are you still determined to divorce him? Even though you both have feelings for each other?"

'This is what Elizabeth thought. But it doesn't mean Michael would think the same way, right? However, as long as she wants to leave, Michael wouldn't stop her, would he?' David thought.

Elizabeth gently traced the rim of her glass with her finger. "It doesn't seem like it's up to me. We're destined not to be together. I won't marry a man who has another woman in his heart."

David anxiously said, "Do you still think Michael doesn't care about you? How many exceptions has he made for you? Has he ever put in half as much effort for any other woman? You're the only one who can't see that."

"Let's drop this. It's snowing today. Let's just enjoy our meal," Elizabeth said, not wanting to continue the topic.

Sarah said approvingly, rolling up a tortilla loaded with grilled meat and some vegetables, "Exactly, let's eat. It won't taste good if it gets cold."

Sarah turned to David and reminded, "I'm warning you, David, remember what Elizabeth just told you. Don't break your promise."

"Don't worry. You know how much I listen to you," David said.

Sarah happily kissed David on the cheek.

David changed the subject. "Elizabeth, Michael's birthday is coming. Are you going to celebrate it for him? Will you get him a birthday gift?"

Elizabeth thought for a moment. "Michael's got everything money can buy. I have no idea what to get him."

Sarah jumped in with a suggestion. "Elizabeth, Michael's so loaded that he probably doesn't care about material stuff. Why not give him something money can't buy?"

Elizabeth quietly pondered what money couldn't buy.

David chimed in, "You could handcraft something for him. Like a hat, scarf, sweater, or some other handmade items."

Sarah laughed and gently nudged David with her shoulder. "Good idea, David."

David, while munching on his carne asada, said, "I'm not really into these things. It's just that when I was in college, a girl gave me a handmade gift, and I really liked it. It felt very thoughtful."

Hearing this, Sarah immediately became unsettled. She gently placed her utensils on her plate, turned around, and stared intently at David. "Alright, since we are free today, David, let's talk about your ex."

David looked like he was facing a great enemy. He quickly put the utensils back into Sarah's hands.

He said, "Ex? She was just a girl I was close to. I never even held her hand. You really don't need to be upset."

Sarah turned back and continued eating. "That's true. Who hasn't had a few exes?"

Now it was David's turn to pretend to be upset.

Elizabeth's gaze shifted between the two of them. "Does love really take this much effort? Maybe I shouldn't get involved."

Sarah and David said in unison, "No!"

David said, "If you do that, Michael will kill me when he finds out."

Sarah coaxed, "Elizabeth, love is so wonderful. If you have the chance, you should definitely enjoy it."

Elizabeth looked at their suddenly serious expressions and laughed, "I'm just kidding. Look how scared you two are. Let's eat. Stop showing off your love in front of me."

After dinner, David and Sarah left first.

Elizabeth went to buy some yarn and then took a cab back to Nancy's home.

Nancy saw the yarn and curiously asked, "Elizabeth, are you going to knit a sweater?"

Elizabeth said, "Michael's birthday is coming, and I don't know what to get him. I thought I can knit him a scarf."

Nancy smiled and said, "That's true. Michael can get whatever he wants with money. But he can't buy genuine affection. But, Elizabeth, do you know how to knit a scarf?"

Elizabeth shyly touched her ear.

She ran over to Nancy, grabbed her arm, and leaned on her. "Mom, I was just about to ask you for help. Can you teach me how to knit a scarf?"

Nancy smiled and patted her shoulder, "It's too late today. You should rest first. Tomorrow, I'll go to the mall after work and buy some yarn. We'll knit together. I'll knit one for you, and you can knit one for him. How about that?"

Elizabeth looked up. "Mom, you don't need to buy any. Just in case I mess up, I bought enough yarn for two scarves."

She then took the yarn out of the bag and placed it in front of Nancy.

Nancy grinned and said, "Alright, we'll kick things off tomorrow. It's too late now; you need to hit the sack."

The next evening, Elizabeth started learning how to knit a scarf from Nancy. During the day, while Nancy was at work, Elizabeth would slowly work on the scarf at home.

Being a newbie, she wasn't very good at it, and her pace was slow. She often had to undo and redo her work.

One day, when she was knitting the scarf, she received a message from Sarah, telling her that Michael had gone back his home.
