Chapter 471 Who Would Like You

Michael was about to lose it. His chest was tight with frustration and confusion.

His eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Elizabeth. "What the hell were you thinking bringing him here? Trying to show off or something?"

Elizabeth acted like she didn't notice his anger and said calmly, "Quinn's got nowhere else to go. He'll stay here for now."

Michael let out a bitter laugh. "This is the guy you brought over, and you expect him to take my place?"

"You've got a huge house. He's just using one room. How's that taking over?"

Michael's eyes widened in fury. "I don't agree! I can't stand him!"

Quinn, trembling with fear, clung to Elizabeth's sleeve and hid behind her.

Elizabeth looked at Michael and stated calmly, "There are no extra rooms at Whispering Pines Estates."

Michael laughed in exasperation. "So what? If your house was big enough, with enough rooms, you'd let him stay with you, right?"

Elizabeth shook her head. "That's not it. Mainly, your security here is much better than mine. Quinn will be safer here, and I'll feel more at ease."

Michael was about to explode. "Elizabeth, have you ever considered my feelings?"

Elizabeth nodded. "I did consider them. That's why I brought him here."

She looked him straight in the eye, showing no guilt.

At the villa's entrance, Jesse was peeking inside, looking suspicious.

Suddenly, with a loud "thud," he fell heavily to the ground.

A shadow quickly dragged him away.

In a small storage room, Jesse woke up. His eyes were covered, and his hands were tied.

As he moved, a voice came through. "Awake?"

Jesse shouted, "Who are you? How dare you kidnap me on this property! Are you out of your mind?"

The other person wasn't intimidated by his threats. "What do I have to be afraid of? You're just one person. And whose property is this, anyway?"

Jesse yelled, "Who sent you? Was it Michael? Does he want me dead? He wants to kill his own father! I should have thrown him to his death when he was born!"

The other person paused. "Michael? He's your son?"

Jesse was stunned. This card wasn't supposed to be played so early.

But the words were out, and there was no taking them back. He had to press on.

"Yes! Michael is my son! He has countless assets! He's afraid I'll take his money, so he wants to kill me. How about we work together and demand money from him? If you kill me, you won't get a dime!"

The other person didn't believe him and sneered. "You, Michael's father? Isn't he the heir to the Thomas family? Wasn't his father Derek, the former head of the Thomas family?"

Jesse shook his head frantically. "No! Derek isn't his biological father! I am!"

The person's tone softened. "Do you have any proof?"

Jesse lifted his head. "My face! My face is the proof! When I was young, I looked almost exactly like him!"

Outside, William's expression was complicated.

The man in black came out of the storage room and took a package from William. He glanced at the cash inside, smiled with satisfaction, and left quickly.

William couldn't believe it. The wealthy son Jesse mentioned turned out to be Michael.

He had lived with Michael for so many years and never suspected his identity.

And what about his mother? Could she not have known?

Impossible. What mother wouldn't recognize her own child? Especially not one who wasn't a baby anymore.

So, Michael's entry into the Thomas family had his mother's consent. Why did she do it? And where was his real brother?

At the Thomas Villa, Quinn was sitting at the dining table, quietly eating.

Elizabeth had told Clio that Quinn had just been discharged from the hospital and couldn't eat anything too rich. So, Clio had prepared some light dishes for him.

Quinn seemed to have been starving for a long time. He stared greedily at the food on the table but ate very slowly.

"Dr. Jones, this food is delicious. Can I take some with me?"

"What are you talking about? You'll be staying here for a while. You can eat good food every day."

Elizabeth looked at Clio. "Clio, please take care of Quinn's meals during this time."

Clio looked at Michael with difficulty. "Mr. Thomas..."

Michael said nothing.

Elizabeth immediately said, "See, he agrees!"

Michael didn't say a word, storming up the stairs and back to his room.

Elizabeth followed him, pulling him inside and closing the door.

"Michael!"

She needed to explain things to him.

Michael sat on the couch, not looking up. "I know. You're doing this for my own good."

Elizabeth was puzzled. "How do you know?"

"I didn't at first. But then I thought about it and understood. You're right. The security here is indeed better. It can ensure that person's safety. Only if he stays here can we keep him out of Jesse's hands."

Elizabeth was taken aback. She widened her eyes. "When did you find out?"

Michael looked at her. "What are you referring to? That Jesse is my father?"

Elizabeth nodded.

Michael lowered his head. "I had many doubts. You were unusually concerned about this patient. He looks so much like Eloise. Jesse kept coming to me, saying all sorts of things. How could I not investigate?"

Elizabeth sat beside him. "So, you accept Quinn staying here?"

Michael looked at her, his emotions unreadable. "You knew I wasn't part of the Thomas family long before I did, didn't you?"

Elizabeth lowered her head and said softly, "Not that long before. Just a few days earlier."

Michael's voice tightened. "Elizabeth, you don't despise me, do you?"

Hearing this, Elizabeth's head shot up, her face puzzled. "What? Despise you for what?"

Michael seemed to make a decision, took a deep breath, and asked tentatively, "I'm not the heir to the Thomas family. I'm the son of that scoundrel Jesse. I don't have a prestigious background. My parents are both disgraceful. Elizabeth, won't you despise someone like me?"

Elizabeth let out a long breath. "I thought you were going to say something else! You are you, irreplaceable. Whether you're the son of a beggar or a king, you'll always be the indomitable Michael to me, the father of my children. We're a family. Nothing can change that."

Michael didn't relax at her answer. He held her hand, looking at her nervously.

"Elizabeth, you know what I'm really asking. Answer me. Will you still love someone like me? Will you still want to marry me?"

Hearing this, Elizabeth shook off his hand, stood up, walked to the window, and said angrily, "Who said I want to love you?"
