Chapter 563 Color Doppler Ultrasound
A few days later, at the airport in Valoria.
Louis was anxiously waiting.
Michael had sent him Elizabeth's flight information, instructing him to pick her up and arrange her hospital admission.
As soon as Elizabeth appeared, Louis rushed over and gave her a big hug.
"Elizabeth!"
Elizabeth hugged him back. "Louie! It's been forever!"
Louis sighed. "Feels like you've been to another planet!"
On the way, Louis asked about Elizabeth's recent experiences in Majestic City and updated her on Quinn and Eloise.
"While you were in Majestic City, Eloise and Quinn stayed at Ms. Johnson's old house. They were like long-lost friends, no barriers between them."
"That's great. No surprise, they are twins after all."
Louis sighed. "Yeah. Sometimes, I envy their bond."
Elizabeth remembered something. "Louie, have you seen Nolan recently? He's in Valoria."
Louis shook his head. "Nolan called me, but he seems super busy. He's juggling both his studies and his business."
He laughed. "Elizabeth, Nolan is definitely your son. So young, and he's already running a company."
Elizabeth said softly, "I wouldn't say he takes after me. He's more like Michael in that regard."
Louis nodded in agreement. "True."
The car stopped in the hospital parking lot. Louis helped Elizabeth with her luggage.
"I've already taken care of the admission paperwork. Let's go, I'll take you to your room."
Elizabeth looked at the familiar hospital and sighed. "Do I really have to stay here again?"
Louis smiled and led her towards the hospital building. "Come on. Your head hasn't fully recovered; we can't take any chances."
Elizabeth resignedly followed him.
Once settled in her room, Louis said goodbye. "Elizabeth, if you need anything, call me. I'll be going now."
Elizabeth waved. "Okay, Louie, see you."
After Louis left, Elizabeth looked around the white hospital room and sat on the bed to call Dean. "Dean, I'm in Valoria."
Dean almost cheered. "Elizabeth! You finally escaped hell!"
Elizabeth lowered her head. "I'll be back in Celestria soon. How's the company? Still alive?"
Dean hesitated. "The company is barely hanging on."
Elizabeth smiled. "It's okay, as long as you're doing well."
Dean checked the caller ID to make sure it was really Elizabeth.
He cautiously asked, "Elizabeth, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, just had a minor surgery and I'm recovering."
Dean pressed further. "Your father's company, the Jones Group, is almost crushed by Jennifer. Aren't you worried?"
"Dean, Jennifer put a lot of effort into the Jones Group too. If she wants to crush it, we'll try to save it. If we can't, so be it. We've done our best. Now, I feel like everything in this world is minor compared to life and death."
Dean was anxious. "Elizabeth, what did you go through in Majestic City?"
"I'll tell you when I get back!"
"Okay, you rest up. Try to come back soon. The company won't go bankrupt immediately. Pearl gave me twenty million dollars, so we can hold on for a while."
Elizabeth frowned. "Where did Pearl get that much money?"
"I suspect Carter gave it to her. Should I return it?"
"Forget it, we'll pay it back with interest later. Carter always helps me out when I'm in a bind."
"Alright."
Elizabeth hung up and lay down to sleep.
She woke up after a long nap. It was pitch dark outside.
Elizabeth picked up her phone to check the time.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps in the room. Startled, she dropped her phone on the bed.
The lights came on, flooding the room with brightness. She immediately covered her eyes.
"Mom!"
Elizabeth thought she was hallucinating. She actually heard Nolan's voice.
She uncovered her eyes and saw Nolan standing in front of her.
"Nolan!"
Elizabeth exclaimed in surprise and hugged him tightly.
Nolan cleared his throat. "Mom, we've been here for a while, sitting outside, not wanting to disturb your rest."
Elizabeth looked at him and then at Sherry beside him. "Sherry, you're here too."
Sherry smiled at her. "Elizabeth, long time no see."
She sat on the couch. "I'm working at Nolan's company now. He's amazing."
She turned to Nolan. "Nolan, shouldn't you take Elizabeth to see your company someday?"
Nolan spoke softly. "Mom's still in the hospital, no rush. Once she's discharged, she'll have plenty of time. She can visit whenever she wants."
Elizabeth smiled and nodded. "Alright. I'll visit and see your skills someday."
Quinn walked over, his eyes bright. "Elizabeth."
Elizabeth looked at his face, so similar to Eloise's, and felt a surge of emotion. "Quinn, Louie told me you're living with Eloise now."
Quinn nodded. "Yes. I'm waiting for Eloise to recover so we can go back to Celestria together. I want to take care of her."
His eyes were determined. "Elizabeth, you've been gone so long, I've been uneasy. I still have shares of Stellar Enterprises to return to you and Michael."
Elizabeth reassured him. "No rush."
As they were talking, Louis walked in.
His expression was serious. "Elizabeth, I just reviewed your medical records and reports from Majestic City. Didn't you only have head surgery? Why were there gynecologists involved? It's strange that they participated in the surgery, but the records don't detail what they did. Do you know?"
Elizabeth frowned. She found it odd too.
"After the surgery, when I woke up, I did feel some discomfort in my lower abdomen. I thought it was because of my period. But before the surgery, I remember my period was already late by several days. I even had an ultrasound."
Louis' expression grew more serious. "Was Glenn the one who performed your surgery?"
"Yes. We discussed the surgical plan together. Why, is there something wrong?"
Louis frowned and nodded. "I feel like something's off. But since Glenn was there, it should be fine. Otherwise, he would have told you."
"Unfortunately, we can't ask Glenn now. He was poisoned by Gerald on the day of my surgery."
Louis turned pale. "I know. You told me. It's such a shame about Glenn! Elizabeth, you really should have left that place sooner. It was a hellhole!"
Elizabeth was uneasy. "I went there to bring Michael back. Who could have known that not only did I fail, but I also lost Glenn."
Louis suddenly asked, "Elizabeth, you said you had an ultrasound before? Was it for your uterus and ovaries?"
