Chapter 465 Escape

While Jesse and Philip were out, Quinn had thought of countless ways to escape.

Yeah, he had to get out.

In the past, his mind wasn't fully developed, and he couldn't see through Jesse and Philip. He only knew that these two were his family.

They kept him locked in a room, not allowing him any contact with the outside world.

When he was younger, Jesse was somewhat kind to him and would patiently explain, "Quinn, just stay in your room. Don't go outside. There are bad people out there. Only Dad and Philip can protect you."

Back then, Jesse provided decent meals. Quinn could eat his fill at every meal.

Jesse even prepared two rooms for him so that the servants could clean up after him.

Jesse didn't want anyone to know about Quinn's existence.

Having a fool in the family would be a disgrace.

Later, at some point, Jesse and Philip started to become uneasy. Their attitude towards Quinn grew worse. They often didn't give him food, and no one came to clean his room anymore.

Quinn was treated like a prisoner, confined to that room where he had to eat, drink, and relieve himself.

Sometimes, he overheard their conversations.

They would take things from the villa to pawn every day.

One day, Quinn heard them mention two names.

Michael and Elizabeth.

With his limited intelligence, he couldn't understand what the people downstairs were planning.

But he heard Jesse's sharp voice, "We need to find a way to get this idiot in front of Elizabeth. But we can't make it too obvious."

His so-called brother Philip said, "Elizabeth is a neurosurgeon. Isn't this idiot the perfect patient for her? It all makes sense, seamless."

The father and son agreed.

Philip complained, "Alright, it's settled. I'll go raise the money. That woman Elizabeth charges so much for surgery!"

Jesse comforted him, "Philip, think long-term. As long as Elizabeth is with Michael, we have a chance. Both of them are our gold mines."

Philip seemed doubtful, "Dad, are you sure about your information? Will Elizabeth really save Quinn?"

Jesse was confident, "Absolutely. I've done a lot of research! I guarantee, once Elizabeth sees Quinn, she won't be able to forget him and will do everything to save him."

Upstairs, Quinn pressed his ear tightly against the door, hearing every word clearly.

Elizabeth.

He repeated the name over and over in his mind.

'Elizabeth, will you really save me? Save me from this pain, save me from this terrible prison.'

That day, when he woke up from surgery, Quinn finally saw Elizabeth's face.

He was slightly stunned, quietly looking at her.

She was nothing like he had imagined.

Jesse, fearing he would be lonely, had once installed a TV in his room.

When he was bored, he would watch TV. There were many handsome men and beautiful women on TV.

But none of those faces could compare to the beauty and radiance of the face in front of him, with a halo of compassion.

She looked at him gently, like a goddess come to save him.

"Mr. Quinn Reed, hello. I am the lead surgeon for your operation, Elizabeth," she said.

At that moment, Quinn believed Jesse's words.

She would definitely save him.

The ambulance from Harmony Health Hospital arrived downstairs. Philip held back his disgust, opened the door, and entered the room.

The medical staff placed Quinn on a stretcher and into the ambulance.

The doctor said, "Family members, please come with us to the hospital."

Jesse waved his hand dismissively, "We don't like riding in ambulances. My son will drive and follow you."

The ambulance sped away.

Philip asked, "Dad, are we really going to the hospital?"

Jesse replied angrily, "Of course! We need to get that idiot admitted! Otherwise, if word gets out, people will say we're abusing a disabled person. It would ruin our reputation."

Philip thought to himself, 'What reputation do we even have left?'

They arrived at the emergency department of Harmony Health Hospital. Quinn was already lying on a hospital bed, receiving an IV. His expression was no longer as pained, but he was still pale.

He seemed to be in a deep sleep.

Jesse completed the admission procedures and went to the doctor's office to inquire about Quinn's condition.

"Doctor, how is Quinn?"

"Are you a relative of Quinn in bed 6? He has acute gastroenteritis from consuming contaminated food or drink."

Jesse thought, 'Gastroenteritis, just a few days of IV treatment, no big deal.'

"Doctor, my work is very busy. I don't have time to take care of him these days. Can you..."

The doctor immediately replied, "No problem, we have caregivers here who can look after the patients. You can go about your work."

Jesse relaxed and left the hospital with Philip.

When Quinn woke up, a middle-aged woman was sitting beside him.

He was startled.

The woman smiled kindly, "Mr. Reed, your family has gone home. I'm your caregiver for the next few days. I'll be taking care of you while you're in the hospital."

Quinn's voice was hoarse as he spoke, "My family?"

The woman nodded, "Yes. Two tall men. They should be your father and brother, right?"

Quinn wanted to confirm, "They've both left?"

The woman looked at his expression, feeling a bit sympathetic, "Mr. Reed, it's okay if they've left. I'll take care of you."

'When people are sick, they tend to become emotionally fragile. Such a handsome young man, it's hard for him to accept that his family has left, right?' the woman thought to herself, feeling silently sympathetic.

Quinn, certain that Jesse and Philip had left, suddenly felt excited.

Finally, his chance had come.

He grabbed the caregiver's hand, not caring about the IV needle in his hand. His voice was urgent, "Ma'am, do you know Elizabeth?"

The caregiver was startled by his sudden action but remained calm. She placed Quinn's IV hand back under the blanket, "Elizabeth? Dr. Jones?"

"I know her. She used to perform surgeries at our hospital and gave expert lectures. I attended one. She's very beautiful and professional."

Quinn became even more urgent, "Can you help me find her? I must see her! If I don't, I'll die!"

The caregiver laughed, "Do you have a crush on Dr. Jones?"

Quinn was stunned, "A crush?"

The caregiver teased him, "Mr. Reed, Dr. Jones is very beautiful. Many people secretly like her."

Quinn realized she misunderstood and quickly explained, "No, no, not that kind of like. I need her to save me!"

The caregiver continued to laugh, "Save you from what? Save your withered heart?"
