Chapter 72 Was He Pretending?
Just to make her watch him and Margaret getting cozy?
It had only been a few days, and Michael and Margaret were already this close?
That day at the hospital, Elizabeth had given Margaret a serious talking-to.
But now the scene felt like a slap in the face, reminding her how foolish she had been.
Elizabeth turned around and stumbled down the stairs, feeling dazed.
Susan saw her coming down so soon and nervously asked, "Ms. Jones, did you see Mr. Thomas? Did he say anything?"
Elizabeth took a gasp, try to keep her cool. "Yeah, I saw him. He didn't say anything. Maybe I came at a bad time."
Susan found Elizabether's response a bit off and said apprehensively, "Ms. Jones, is there some kind of misunderstanding? Mr. Thomas has been looking forward to your visit."
Elizabeth said expressionlessly, "Susan, tell Michael from me that I won't bother him anymore. Ask him to call me when he can so we can move forward with the divorce."
Without waiting for Susan's response, Elizabeth stormed through the foyer, changed her clothes and shoes, and left without looking back.
Susan stood there, stunned, and couldn't figure out what had happened within just a few minutes.
After Elizabeth left, the bodyguard showed up in the living room.
Susan walked over and asked him, "Didn't you say Mr. Thomas was eager to see Mrs. Thomas? Why did she come out of his room looking so mad? What happened?"
The bodyguard looked confused and asked Susan, "Elizabeth came to the villa? When did she come?"
Susan, surprised, said, "Just now. She was here for less than five minutes before she left."
The bodyguard slapped his forehead and said, "Oh no!"
Susan asked, "What's wrong?"
The bodyguard said, "Susan, while you were away, Ms. Taylor came over, saying she wanted to check on Mr. Thomas. I asked her to wait in the living room while I went to inform him. She gave me her keys and asked me to park her car, and I just got back."
Susan exclaimed, "What? You let Ms. Taylor into Mr. Thomas's room?"
The bodyguard emphasized again, "I didn't let her go up. I asked her to wait in the living room while I went to inform him."
Susan said urgently, "Then you better go check now. She's not in the living room, and I didn't see her in the garden. She might already be in his room."
The bodyguard quickly ran up the stairs, rushing into Michael's room, out of breath.
Sure enough, Michael was already glowering at Margaret.
At that moment, Michael saw the bodyguard come in and instantly redirected his anger towards him.
Michael, sitting on the bed, pointed at Margaret and scoffed at the bodyguard, "Who let her in? Is this how you guard me? Why did you let an outsider into my room without stopping her?"
The bodyguard lowered his head and said, "Mr. Thomas, I'm sorry. I didn't let Ms. Taylor in. I asked her to wait in the living room while I was on my way to park her car and planned to inform you. I didn't know she came up on her own."
Michael growled at Margaret, "Margaret, respect my boundaries. When did I ever allow you into my room?"
Margaret, feeling wronged, said, "Michael, you were so badly injured that day, and then you have a fever and pneumonia. I am really worried about you. When I went to the hospital to see you, the nurses told me that Mary had already transferred you back home, so I came to your home to see you. Susan and the bodyguard weren't around, and I couldn't wait for them to inform you, so I came into the room. I couldn't wait another second to see you."
Michael growled, "Shut up! I've told you not to push my limits! Have I been too soft on you these past few years? I've told you over and over, I don't like you! Margaret, if you still don't get it, I'll have HR kick you out of Stellar Enterprises. Then you and Samuel can leave Aurora Bay for good!"
Margaret, crying, said, "Michael, don't make me leave. I get it now. I'll go right away."
After Margaret left Michael's room unwillingly, the bodyguard helped him take his medicine.
Seeing the bodyguard's hesitant expression, Michael asked, "Spit it out. Is there something else you're not telling me?"
The bodyguard hesitated for a moment before deciding to be honest: "Mr. Thomas, I'm not sure if I should tell you this, but Mrs. Thomas was here just a while ago while Miss Taylor was in your room."
Michael stared at him coldly without saying a word.
The bodyguard glanced at Michael's expression.
Even though Michael wasn't speaking or showing anger, the bodyguard felt that Michael was even more terrifying at that moment.
The bodyguard felt cold sweat running down his back.
Looking at the nail clipper on the table and summoning his courage, the bodyguard stammered, "I think Ms. Jones saw Ms. Taylor clipping your nails when she came up. So she left without saying a word."
Upon hearing this, Michael immediately tried to pull out the IV needle from his hand, scolding, "She left? With so many of you here, not one of you stopped her? You just let her leave with that misunderstanding?"
The bodyguard quickly rushed forward to stop him.
He advised Michael, "Mr. Thomas, please calm down. Even if you rush out now, Ms. Jones is already far away. Besides, your leg injury hasn't fully healed, and you can't walk fast. It's better to wait until you've recovered a bit more before explaining things to her."
Seeing hie leg, Michael collapsed back onto the bed helplessly and said in a low voice, "Tell everyone downstairs that Margaret is no longer allowed in the villa. Anyone who breaks this rule will be kicked out of the Thomas Villa and never rehired."
The bodyguard quickly agreed. Then he called the medical staff to take care of Michael.
The bodyguard went downstairs and gathered Susan and all the rest of staff, and informed them all that Margaret was now banned from the villa.
Soon came the evening of Saturady, Elizabeth had an appointment with Samuel to visit an art exhibition.
After work, Elizabeth left The Jones Group and stood by the roadside waiting for Samuel's car.
When the car arrived, the driver opened the door for her and said, "Ms. Jones, Mr. Taylor had something urgent to handle, so he asked me to take you to the art exhibition first."
The driver handed Elizabeth a ticket and said, "Mr. Taylor asked me to give this to you. He will join you at the exhibition after he finishes his business."
Elizabeth took the ticket, nodded, and got into the car.
She didn't care to go to the art exhibition with Samuel together.
The reason she had been so quick to accept Samuel's invitations recently was to observe his character up close. It was essential to thoroughly understand her partners in collaboration.
After all, Margaret was so bad, why was Samuel so gentlemanly? There was no guarantee it wasn't just an act.
