Chapter 543 Stealing Secrets

Michael was worried Victor might spot Nolan, so he quickly grabbed Victor's hand.

Victor was startled and immediately shook him off. "Michael! What the hell are you doing?"

The other diners in the restaurant turned to look at them curiously.

Victor glanced around and smirked mischievously. "Michael, if I'm not mistaken, Elizabeth is staying at that hotel nearby, right? Haven't you sent her away yet?"

"Or is it that you want her to leave, but she refuses? After all, she's Mr. Stewart's woman! Both you and Mr. Stewart are in Majestic City right now, so of course she doesn't want to leave, right?"

Michael remained calm, continuing to eat his breakfast slowly and methodically.

Seeing Michael's indifference, Victor continued to provoke him. "Michael, I really admire you! I play around with women, but you three take it to another level! You married a beauty like Cordelia and still aren't satisfied, and now you're trying to steal Elizabeth from Mr. Stewart? Are you two sharing her? Can Elizabeth handle both of you at the same time?"

Victor clicked his tongue and shook his head as he spoke.

Nolan couldn't stand hearing Victor insult Elizabeth any longer. He stood up abruptly and stormed towards the door, causing the glass door to slam loudly.

He was furious at Victor's behavior and even more disappointed by Michael's indifference.

Even though Michael had married someone else, Elizabeth was still a woman he had once loved deeply. How could he remain so calm in the face of someone slandering her?

Victor glanced nonchalantly at the door. "Whose kid is that? So rude! Scared the hell out of me!"

Michael pretended to look towards the door briefly before resuming his breakfast, seemingly unbothered.

Michael's position in the Murphy family was still unstable. Despite his animosity towards Victor, he couldn't act against him yet, out of respect for Gerald.

Victor might be incompetent, but he was Gerald's only son. If Michael killed him, Gerald wouldn't spare Elizabeth and Nolan.

The time wasn't right. He had to endure and wait.

In the neurology ward of Central Hospital.

Glenn asked the nurse helplessly, "Where's the patient from this bed?"

The nurse replied, equally helpless, "The patient left early on her own. Her bodyguard later handled the discharge paperwork."

Glenn sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Give me her contact information."

The nurse looked worried. "Dr. Cole, is her condition serious?"

Glenn sighed again. "The CT scan shows an intracranial tumor. She needs surgery as soon as possible, or complications will arise quickly."

The nurse was shocked. "That serious? Oh my God! She's so young and beautiful!"

Glenn sighed once more, as if talking to himself. "Yes, she's so young and beautiful."

He started dialing Elizabeth's number but hesitated and deleted the digits one by one.

He asked the nurse, "Who's Elizabeth's emergency contact? Give me his number."

The nurse handed him a card. "Her bodyguard, Rufus Chapman."

Glenn immediately called Rufus.

When Rufus answered, Glenn asked, "Are you Rufus, Elizabeth's bodyguard?"

Rufus replied, "Yes, I am. Who's this?"

"I'm Elizabeth's attending physician."

Rufus's tone changed instantly. "Hello. Have my boss's test results come in?"

"They have. You should come and get them as soon as possible."

"Alright. I'll be there right away."

Rufus arrived at Glenn's office and was taken aback by Glenn's serious expression.

"Dr. Cole, how are my boss's test results? Are they bad?"

"Has she been under a lot of stress lately?"

Rufus sat down and sighed. "More than you can imagine! Her husband was taken from her! She traveled all the way from Aurora Bay, only to find her husband had lost his memory and didn't recognize her! Now her son is here too, but he's avoiding her. She was even kidnapped by her rival in love's brother! It's been a nightmare!"

Glenn frowned deeply and remained silent.

Rufus called out tentatively, "Dr. Cole? Dr. Cole!"

Meanwhile, Michael returned to the castle.

Cordelia was delighted. "Michael, have you had breakfast? Come join me!"

Her injuries had improved significantly, and she could move around slowly.

Michael changed his clothes and shoes, then looked at her. "Is your wound hurting today? Have someone take you outside to get some sun. Staying indoors all the time isn't good for you."

Cordelia was surprised by his concern and felt even happier. "Alright, I will."

Michael headed upstairs. Cordelia quickly put down her utensils and called for the maid to help her upstairs.

She still couldn't move too much.

Once in the room, the maids left.

Cordelia closed the door. "Michael, I apologize for what happened last night. I truly didn't want Elizabeth to get hurt. She's someone you care about. Dad and Victor know that too. If they capture her, you'll be in trouble. You're my husband, and I don't want to see you struggle."

Michael sat in a chair, looking at her.

Cordelia bit her lip, gathering her courage to continue. "Maybe you don't know, but I've secretly liked you for many years. I've dreamed of marrying you. Now that my dream has come true, I don't want to lose you."

"Michael, I hope you stay with me. Victor is incompetent. Dad won't entrust him with important tasks. If you show loyalty to the Murphy family and prove your sincerity to Dad, the entire Murphy family will be yours in the future."

Cordelia slowly walked towards him, her voice barely audible. "And I'll be yours too."

Michael stood up. "I understand. Get some rest."

He opened the door and left.

Cordelia slumped into the chair he had just vacated, feeling utterly defeated.

Was Michael's heart made of steel? Why did he remain so cold no matter what she did?

At Whispering Pines Estates in Aurora Bay.

Dean paced anxiously around the room.

Daniel watched him helplessly.

"Dean, stop pulling your hair. You'll go bald if you keep it up."

Dean stopped and plopped down next to Daniel, groaning. "Daniel, I'm at my wit's end! I really want to call Elizabeth, but I'm scared."

Daniel smoothed Dean's hair. "Is Jennifer's hired help that formidable? Even you can't handle it?"

Dean sighed. "If Elizabeth doesn't come back soon, the company will go bankrupt."

Daniel spoke up. "She doesn't understand the technical stuff. Even if she comes back, if you haven't found a solution, the company will still go bankrupt."

Dean continued to fret. "Who is this person? Why does it feel like they know my every move? It's like they can anticipate my every plan!"

Daniel asked, "Has your core technology been stolen again?"
