Chapter 165 I Heard You're Jealous?

The next morning, Louis went to The Jones Group to find Elizabeth. After the receptionist gave her a heads-up, Elizabeth came down to the first floor to personally escort Louis upstairs.

In the CEO's office, Elizabeth eyed him curiously. "Louis, why do you look so serious after just one night? Did something happen?"

She handed him a cup of coffee.

Louis pulled a photo from his pocket and handed it to her. "Do you know this guy?"

Elizabeth took a look at the photo and raised an eyebrow. "He's pretty handsome! I think I've seen him on TV before. What's up with him?"

She glanced back at Louis. "Louis?"

Louis took a sip of his coffee. "He used to be a big-time singer. Three years ago, he had a concert and accidentally fell off the stage. He hit his head pretty bad and was in critical condition, teetering between life and death. His fans were devastated and prayed for his recovery."

Elizabeth listened intently.

Louis went on. "When he first got hurt, his family consulted a bunch of brain specialists. He went through a lot of treatments, but he stayed in a vegetative state. Six months ago, his family found Ms. Johnson. She took on his case and came up with a full surgical and treatment plan. Sadly, she passed away before she could carry it out."

"Before she got really sick, she showed me the plan. She probably knew her time was short and asked me to study it. But after looking at it, I realized I couldn't pull it off. Elizabeth, you were her brightest and most hardworking student. She always said you were the most talented and dedicated among all her students. Elizabeth, would you..." Louis hesitated.

"Louis, I get what you're saying." Elizabeth thought for a while and nodded. "When you can, give me his medical records and Ms. Johnson's treatment plan. I'll go through them carefully. He's so young, talented, and handsome. His fans must be eagerly waiting for his comeback. I'll do my best to help him."

Louis clearly let out a sigh of relief. "That's great. Otherwise, I'd feel guilty for not fulfilling Ms. Johnson's last wish. I wanted to tell you about this when I visited your place last night, but it didn't seem right to bring up something so serious over at that time."

Elizabeth chuckled. "So, you held it in all night and came to tell me first thing this morning?"

Louis laughed too. "I believe you can do it. But on a personal note, don't push yourself too hard."

Elizabeth smiled. "Don't worry."

Louis stood up from the sofa with a smile and brushed off his clothes. "Alright, mission accomplished. Show me around your new company, will you?"

Elizabeth extended a welcoming gesture. "With pleasure. This way, please."
The two of them exited the CEO's office, chatting and laughing, while the secretaries in the office cast curious and gossiping glances their way.

After they left, the secretaries openly gossiped about Elizabeth.

"Wow, have you noticed that all of Elizabeth's suitors are total hunks?"

"Seriously, why can't I meet guys like that?"

"Who's the new guy today? Judging by how enthusiastic Elizabeth is, he seems to have a good shot."

"Why wouldn't he? He looks like a mature, successful man. That type is super popular now. He's emotionally steady and with good looks, and a great physique. What's not to like?"

"The thing is, Elizabeth is way too enthusiastic about him. From what I know about her, if she really likes someone, she wouldn't be so obvious. This guy's probably just a friend."

The secretaries kept their gossip going.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth had already brought Louis to the entrance of the technical department.

She asked one of the employees, "Where's Dean?"

The employee replied, "Mr. Palmer just stepped out for a bit."

At the moment, Dwayne snapped a sneaky photo of Elizabeth and Louis while she wasn't looking and sent it to Daniel.

Daniel received the photo from Dwayne.

In the picture, Louis and Elizabeth were smiling naturally, their eyes meeting. Anyone who didn't know better would think they were a couple.

Daniel hesitated about whether to forward the photo to Michael, unaware of the shadow that had fallen over him. "What are you keeping from me?"

Daniel opened his eyes suddenly.

In his panic, the coin rolled to the ground.

Michael bent down and picked up the coin. "Alright. It's heads up. Now you can tell me, what are you thinking about?"

Daniel hesitated. "Mr. Thomas, I'm afraid you'll get angry."

Daniel suddenly snapped back to reality and handed the phone to Michael. "Mr. Thomas, I'm afraid you'll be angry."

Michael coldly looked at the photo on the phone showing Elizabeth and Louis chatting and laughing.

With a loud bang, Daniel's phone was slammed heavily onto the table. Michael angrily returned to his office.

Daniel silently mourned for his phone.

At the same time, he cursed himself inwardly.

Was he stupid? Why did he hand his phone to Michael? He should have sent the photo directly to Michael; that way, the phone being smashed would have been Michael's own.

Daniel regretted his decision.

Then Matthew walked over.

He saw Daniel's distressed expression and laughed. "Daniel, who upset you? It's rare to see you like this."

Daniel sat down dejectedly.

He carefully checked if his phone was damaged while explaining to Matthew what had just happened.

Matthew walked into the CEO's office, teasing, "Michael, what's wrong? I heard you're jealous?"

Michael looked up at him coldly. "If you're so free, go help Daniel reorganize the files."

Matthew coughed twice, then chuckled. "You still won't admit you're jealous?"
